Show Me Your Glory

Then Moses said, “I pray You, show me Your glory!” — Exodus 33:18

and it will come about, while My glory is passing by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by. — Exodus 33:22

Moses is my favorite Bible person. I love reading about his interactions with God. He and the Lord met together many times from the”burning bush” to Moses’ dying day. They had the kind of intimate relationship that I would like to have with our Lord.

In this particular passage of Scripture God said, “You have found favor in My sight”. Moses boldly said, “I pray You, show me Your glory”. As we see in verse 22, God showed him!!!

I often pray asking God to show me His glory and He does!!! In answered prayers, in blessings, in watching His master work in restoring relationships, in spiritual growth in believers, etc. When we ask to see His glory He opens our eyes to see. God is amazing!

On one occasion Moses’ meeting with God lasted 40 days and 40 nights. Moses was so overtaken with the glory of God that he didn’t even eat or drink that whole time. When Moses returned to the people of Israel the skin of his face shone from speaking with God. The Israelites were afraid so Moses put a veil over his face. Whenever Moses went in before the Lord he would remove the veil.

I have known Christians in my time who’ve had a special glow about them, a twinkle in their eye when they spoke of the Lord. I wonder if it is because they spend intimate, quality time with Jesus. I’m guessing that is the reason. In the meantime I am going to work on that glow of glory that comes only from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. How about you? Will you join me in the quest to glory in the Lord and for the Lord?

Continually seeking Him,

Sharon

    • Thank you for the “like” and comment. To truly know Jesus we do need to share in all aspects of His life — “the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death;”. Thank you for your comment, it got me thinking this morning. You have been a blessing to me. Again, thank you.

      • Thank you for your kind words. You are a blessing to
more people than you can ever imagine. Consider the words of Ephesians 3:20. I like the NIV for this verse. As for Phil 3:10, also consider John 17:3 (an eternal relationship with God is based on an intimate relationship with God, the father, through God, the Son. Also, look at John 4:24. Worship in spirit and in truth. Consider this, “all of us for all of Him.” It is a total relationship that God desires of us, and with us. Per Phil 3:10, there are many emotions and other circumstances of life that will have us to say,
God, if I win I’ll love you, and if I lose I’ll love you.
Please begin reading my posts, from the most recent, backwards. You might find common ground among the ideas that you have and the things that I have.

      • Thank you so much for your reply with the verse references. I just love God’s Word and looked them all up to read. Thank you also for your encouragement. You have no idea what a blessing it is to be encouraged by a fellow brother who is on the same page. That I also consider God showing His glory. If there is only One God and His One and only Holy Spirit lives in us — we should be on the same page. The Holy Spirit does not tell one person one thing and another person another thing. I love when I study for Sunday morning class and many of the verses I choose to use in teaching I hear from my Pastor’s lips in service. It is such an affirmation that I am hearing the Holy Spirit correctly and blessed that He has revealed His glory to me. I will attempt to get to reading some of your posts. God’s continued blessing to you brother. Continually seeking Him, Sharon
