Matthew 7:13-14. 13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go through it. 14 How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.
The Christian life is not an easy life. The road that leads to the narrow gate is difficult. That is probably why few find it.
Matthew 7:15-20. 15 “Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves. 16 You’ll recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit. 18 A good tree can’t produce bad fruit; neither can a bad tree produce good fruit. 19 Every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 So you’ll recognize them by their fruit.
Look for the fruit. As a Christian our lives should be bearing fruit that people can see and in it we bring glory to our King. If we are not bearing are we truly disciples of Christ? Or are we walking the wide road pretending? And in fruit bearing — look for those that are bearing fruit and glean from their crop so that you may grow.
Matthew 7:21-23. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name?’ 23 Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you! Depart from Me, you lawbreakers!
This is my heart verse. The verse that tugs at my heart. Many walking that wide road are going through the motions of Christianity and expecting to hear something different from our Lord and their reply? Verse 22. Then the judgement: depart from Me. (Eternal Hell). Breaks my heart. Are you going through the motions? Earning your brownie points? What or should I say, Who are you living for? Who are you doing for? Yourself or for the GLORY of GOD? Wide road or narrow road? Bearing fruit for God and His kingdom or for your own glory? What will you hear on judgement day?
Continually seeking Him,
Sharon
