Adonai is All I Have

We are a busy people aren’t we? From the rising of the sun to the setting thereof we rush through life. To accomplish what?

To put food on the table and clothes on the back? God says, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.”

To find our way to peace and contentment? To make a “life for ourselves”? Jesus said,  “I am the way, the truth and the life”.

To be better than anyone else? Bible says, “Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you”.

Which now comes to Lamentations 3:25-26:

The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the person who seeks Him. It is good that he waits silently For the salvation of the Lord.
How often are you “being still and knowing God”? Silently waiting on a word from God to quiet your soul, strengthen you faith, heal your hurts and disappointments and revel in His salvation? Open the Word of God before you. Pray. Quiet your soul before Almighty God

🌹“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I have hope in Him.”
Lamentations 3:24
Adonai is all I have,” I say;
“therefore I will put my hope in him.

Needs Meet for Fruitfulness

Our people must also learn to engage in good deeds to meet pressing needs, so that they will not be unfruitful.
Titus 3:14 NASB

As the body of Christ called to be fruitful — that is, leading people to the cross, to the salvation found in Jesus Christ — we do well to meet each others needs so as to be fruitful for our Lord.

🌹For God’s will, purpose and glory.

No Better Living

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men,
instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age,
looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus,
who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.
Titus 2:11‭-‬14 NASB

The “grace of God has appeared”! Appeared in Jesus Christ who brought salvation! How blessed the believer is!!

Besides salvation, Jesus came to instruct for today. “deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age,”
Jesus gave His life for us “to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.” Hallelujah!!! To know Jesus and to serve Him zealously is a wonderful and joyous privilege!

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
Ephesians 2:10 NASB

To live for Jesus is a blessing. We walk with Him “looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus,”

🌹Walking in godliness, serving God as we look for His return.

No Matter What, To God We Go.

Is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises.
James 5:13 NASB

The reference to suffering here in James is compared to the prophets of the Old Testament. They were sent by God to tell the Israelites a message from Him that was not well received.

As we share the Good News we often can get discouraged that no one is listening. No one is understanding their need for Jesus. Or as I recently experienced, they were being phony, lying and deceiving with a personal agenda. It can be disheartening.

Solution? Go to the Lord in prayer. He can heal the heart.
Take the people you share with to the Lord. Ultimately it is the Lord who changes hearts, not us. We simply need to be obedient and tell the story of Jesus and His saving grace. No matter the outcome God is in control.

And one day in heaven we might just meet that individual. Seeds planted that God used to change that person’s heart.

Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises.

It is extremely easy to sing praise when we have a cheerful heart. Is it the Lord to whom we direct our songs of praise?

🌹So whether suffering or cheerful, let our response be to seek the Lord God.

Life or Death Examination

They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.
Titus 1:16 NASB

The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;
1 John 2:4 NASB

Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?
2 Corinthians 13:5 NASB

🌹For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,
Romans 8:6 NASB

Or

To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.
Titus 1:15‭ NASB

Perspective.
Where is your focus?
I can look at the world and be discouraged OR I can look to God and see He has a plan.
I can look to myself and be defiled by my sinful nature OR I can look to God who renews my mind and spirit.
It’s all about God.

🌹And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2 NASB)
that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.
Ephesians 4:22‭-24 NASB

Testimony of Trust

Blessed be the Lord, Because He has heard the voice of my supplication. The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him.
Psalms 28:6‭-‬7 NASB

Who do you turn to when life becomes overwhelming? In whom do you trust with all the pieces of your life – the good, the bad, the ugly, the disappointments, the struggles, the highs, the lows? Has He heard the voice of your supplication because you cried out to Him? If you do, He will help you. Your heart will exult your God and you can’t help but to thank Him.

But You, O Lord, are a shield about me, My glory, and the One who lifts my head.
Psalms 3:3 NASB

🌹He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear And will trust in the Lord.
Psalms 40:3 NASB

King of kings

And the Lord will be king over all the earth; in that day the Lord will be the only one, and His name the only one.
Zechariah 14:9 NASB

Whom will you serve? Who it’s your priority?

The people said to Joshua, “We will serve the Lord our God and we will obey His voice.”
Joshua 24:24 NASB

🌹which He will bring about at the proper time—He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of Lords, who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.
1 Timothy 6:15‭-‬16 NASB

Encounters with God

Saturday evening I went walking at one of my favorite places. Surrounded by God’s creation, a few passersby, quiet and able to spend quiet moments with Jesus (actually about an hour).
As I walk I talk with God. I didn’t have much to say so I told God I would walk and listen for His still small voice. I can do a lot of talking and it was difficult to be silent. My mind was wandering instead of listening. But I was reminded that God is sufficient. He is enough for me and all that I need.
At one point I asked, “God, do you have a word for me, a word of Scripture?” Seconds later a young woman walking towards me noticed the shirt I was wearing and said, “I did that VBS! I was the music person!” Then she does a little punch in the air and says, “Game On” along with a little jump in the air. As we passed each other I just thanked God that He spoke to me through that young lady.
Continuing to walk on I pondered my request and how God answered it. Then I thought, I asked for a Scripture. Remembering after I got home that there is a verse on the back of the shirt, I looked it up . . .

seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.
2 Peter 1:3 NASB

In the quietness of my walk focusing on God, He not only reminded me that He is sufficient but when I asked Him for a verse He gave me one to affirm my thoughts. My God is sufficient and all I need.

Sunday morning. I’m cruising through Facebook waiting for my coffee to brew. Right in the middle of cruising I close my eyes and whisper a prayer, “God, I am so tired this morning and if I close my eyes for my daily prayer I will fall asleep. Is that okay? I open my eyes and this I see:

Saturdays evening prayer: “Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O Lord, You know it all. You have enclosed me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is too high, I cannot attain to it. Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
Psalms 139:4-‬7 NASB
(Are you thankfully reacting to the Hand of God being on you? Do you know that you can never totally understand the Lord? Are you OK with the knowledge that you cannot hide from an all knowing God?)
Thank you Pastor friend Roger Anderson

How can I possibly leave for church this morning (Sunday) without preparing my heart for worship? Prayer time ensued.

🌹 What an amazing God!!

Enduring and Everlasting Kingdom

There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.
Isaiah 9:7 NASB

In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever.
Daniel 2:44 NASB

He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.”
Luke 1:32‭-‬33 NASB

Looking at the world today there is much turmoil, anguish, uncertainty that instills fear in so many. But for the believer and follower of Jesus Christ there is hope. There is an everlasting Kingdom for the Christian whose King is the King of kings, the Lord of lords, the Son of the Most High and His kingdom had no end.

🌹Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness. In that is peace and hope.
