I had many things to write to you, but I am not willing to write them to you with pen and ink; but I hope to see you shortly, and we will speak face to face. Peace be to you. The friends greet you. Greet the friends by name.

God bless you for taking this journey through 1, 2 and 3rd John with me. I have learned a lot; been challenged in loving others as God loves; being made aware of those who falsely walk the Christian walk seeking to deceive; and knowing that my God abides in me leading and guiding my Christian walk. I am so thankful for the Word of God that leads me and guides me on the straight and narrow with the Holy Spirit residing in me the whole way in truth for life eternal. To God be the glory for the things He has done in me through this journey. I hope and pray you have been challenged and grown too during this journey.

Demetrius has received a good testimony from everyone, and from the truth itself; and we add our testimony, and you know that our testimony is true.

Are you ever concerned with what people say about you or see in you? Should you be?

Father God, You sent Your Son to pay the price for my sin and to give me life. This life that I now live is not mine. Christ lives in me by the Holy Spirit who resides in me. You have instructed me, in Your Word, to let my light shine before others in such a way that they may see my good works, and glorify You Father. Lord, I pray that I will walk in such a way that I would have a good reputation among those in the church and outside the church, so that I will not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil, bringing dishonor to Your name. I also ask that I walk in such a manner that when I share the gospel the one I share with will know that my testimony is true, so that they also may believe. I pray my walk in You gives me a reputation that gives You honor, glory and praise and is a testimony of Your truth in me. This I pray in Jesus name, amen.

Testimony: my husband had a co-worker who approached him one day and asked, “What is different about you?”. He told him that Jesus lived in him. This began a relationship that eventually opened the opportunity for my husband to lead this man to the Lord.

Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God.

God, it is sometimes so hard to live a godly life when all around me evil resides. I see it, hear it, and sometimes I am the receiver of it. I pray Lord God to be strengthened by the power of the blood to depart from evil and do good; to seek peace and pursue it so I will abide forever in Your righteousness. Help me Jesus to imitate good and practice righteousness as You have demonstrated. I want to be known as Your child by walking in Your righteousness Jesus practicing until I see You in all Your glory. Amen.

3 John 9-10

I wrote something to the church; but Diotrephes, who loves to be first among them, does not accept what we say (us). For this reason, if I come, I will call attention to his deeds which he does, unjustly accusing us with wicked words; and not satisfied with this, he himself does not receive the brethren, either, and he forbids those who desire to do so and puts them out of the church.

Holy God, I pray for the one who walks contrary to Your Word in self righteousness, forgetting that You and only You are Sovereign leader of the church. Under Your sovereign power, Lord, guide me by Your word to stand for Your perfect truth against those who abuse it to their demise. May the body, Your church, prayerfully confront boldly anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ. These we know do not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. I pray Lord God for discernment and boldness to speak truth that You may be glorified in Your church. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

For they went out for the sake of the Name, accepting nothing from the Gentiles. Therefore we ought to support (receive such men as guests) such men, so that we may be (prove ourselves to be) fellow workers with (for) the truth.

“They went out for the sake of the Name “. Glory to the name that is highly exalted and bestowed on Him by You, God; the name which is above every name, to whom every knee will bow. Bow at the name of Jesus, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. I ask for my heart’s desire to be, to live each day for the sake of the Name and to support all fellow workers of the faith spreading the truth of Jesus alongside them and/or financially. Beloved, you are acting faithfully in whatever you accomplish for the brethren, and especially when they are strangers; and they have testified to your love before the church. You will do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God.

🌹Faithful God who has called me into Your own kingdom and glory, glory to Your name and to Your kingdom. Help me to walk in a manner worthy of You, my God, who has called me. To please You in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of You, God. To be faithful to the brethern; especially those who are strangers and to do good to all people as I have opportunity in the support of the spread of Your gospel. The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth. Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers. For I was very glad when brethren came and testified to your truth, that is, how you are walking in truth. I have no greater joy than this (these things, that I hear), to hear of my children walking in the truth.

Discipling…

Lord God, what a joy and privilege You have given Your children who walk in truth to love one another. Not to love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth. Lord may I walk in truth, as You have commanded, in such a way that I demonstrate walking in truth to those I am discipling. I pray that I can teach new disciples to remind others of the way of Christ. God, I pray I will persevere in my labor until Jesus Christ is formed in those I have the privilege to disciple. Lord may I exhort, encourage, and implore these disciples as if they are my own children, that they would walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls us into His own kingdom and glory. And God, my hope is to find these I disciple walking in truth, just as I have received commandment to do from You, Father. Use me Lord Jesus to bring glory to Your name. Amen.

2 John 12-13

Though I have many things to write to you, I do not want to do so with paper and ink; but I hope to come to you and speak face to face, so that your (our) joy may be made full. The children of your chosen sister greet you.

Remember the days of old when you would write a letter to a distant friend or relative and wait, it seemed like forever, for their reply? Today, with texting, it is much faster but it still doesn’t compare to being in the presence of that friend or relative.

🌹God of heaven, glory to Your name. Thank You for the technology of texting and being able to connect with friends and family anytime long distance.
Thank You God for prayer and being able to connect to You anytime. As much joy as it brings me to be in prayer, it will not compare to the day I am ushered into Your presence and see You face to face in all Your glory! My joy will be full. In the of Jesus, my Savior, I pray. Amen.

2 John 8-11

Watch yourselves, that you do not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward.
Anyone (Everyone) who goes too far (goes on ahead) and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son.
If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting; for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds.

🌹God of refuge and strength I pray for Your refuge and strength in a time when tribulation like we have never seen comes upon us. I pray I will watch myself and hold to Your truth learned through Your word and godly mentors in my life. I pray I will plant and water and have confidence to receive the full reward according to my labors. Guide me Lord and keep me from going ahead of You, by abiding in Your Word, Jesus, and in You, Father.
I ask protection and discernment, God, to recognize and keep away from those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to Your teaching and to turn away from them. Keep me free from sin Lord, giving me the ability to show mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh. Keep me, as You commanded, from every brother and sister who leads an unruly life so as not to be swayed to that lifestyle and thus find myself participating in their evil deeds. Help me to avoid the unfruitful deeds of darkness and expose those deeds. May Your mercy fall on me. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
