Acknowledge God

And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper,29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; 32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them. — Romans 1:28-32

The decision (choice) to not acknowledge God leads down a road of personal, relational, and societal destruction. And we have the audacity to ask, “why is the world in such a mess?”.

Continually seeking Him,

Sharon

  2. Thank you Debbie for your comment and I totally agree. The acknowledgement of God allows us to see that we cannot meet His standard. Without Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and the acknowledgement of this, we have no hope of escape from the power of sin. Praise God for His grace. Thanks again for your comment and rejoicing in your salvation!!!

  3. I remember when I first read this passage many years ago! My first reaction was that the writer of Romans wasn’t talking about me. But then as I reread the verses and focused on the list, I recognized the sin in my life. No, I wasn’t a murderer, but my sins were included in the same breath as murder. I believe this speaks to God’s grace to cover all our sins, even the ones that we think we would never be capable of committing. In God’s eyes, sin is sin and there is only one escape through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.
