#1 Life/Favorite Verse(s) Choice

Thank you to all who participated in the sharing of your Life/Favorite Verse(s) yesterday. I was well fed with a feast of wonderful scripture.

The favorite of many participants was Proverbs 3:5-6.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6 NASB1995

A blogger friend shared these verses on Tuesday but I never had the chance to read it until yesterday.
I inadvertently listened to a sermon, which I very seldom do online, and yes it was also on Proverbs 3:5-6.
I decided that Proverbs 3:5-6 might just be what God wanted me to share today.

Trusting is not an easy thing to do. It makes us vulnerable to the person we are putting our trust in. Can they be trusted?

I believe we even struggle at times trusting God. It is easier to say we trust than to actually put our trust in Him.

Could it be that we struggle to trust because we want something that God may want better for us? That’s where we need to not lean on our own understanding, trusting that God wants the best for us.

And God’s Word is a great place to grow our trust and learn to walk the straight path following in the footsteps of Jesus.

One of my dear friends who chose Proverbs also chose this verse which I believe fits right in to trusting the Lord.

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12 NASB1995

🌹Are you trusting God? Is the Word where you go when you doubt, when you’re seeking to understand?

The Lord is waiting for you to seek Him so that your trust in Him will grow.

Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face continually.

Like My Father

He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord. Your clothing did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years. Thus you are to know in your heart that the Lord your God was disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son.
Deuteronomy 8:3‭-‬5 NASB

Out of the heavens He let you hear His voice to discipline you; and on earth He let you see His great fire, and you heard His words from the midst of the fire. Because He loved your fathers, therefore He chose their descendants after them. And He personally brought you from Egypt by His great power, Know therefore today, and take it to your heart, that the Lord, He is God in heaven above and on the earth below; there is no other.
Deuteronomy 4:36‭-‬37‭, ‬39 NASB

I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me; when he commits iniquity, I will correct him with the rod of men and the strokes of the sons of men,
2 Samuel 7:14 NASB

Do you feel like you are being beat up at times? Nothing seems to be going the way ‘it should’? Life is superhard and nothing is going well?
That’s the time when we need to be still and examine our hearts. Talk to God in prayer. Those hard times can be God’s discipline. I know,  I have been there many times. Just remember that God’s discipline is for our good and His glory. I’m thankful God disciplines me.  Why? Because it makes me more like my Father.

🌹For whom the Lord loves He reproves, Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.
Proverbs 3:12 NASB

Praise the Lord!

Praise the Lord!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty expanse. — Psalm 150:1
For He looked down from His holy height;
From heaven the Lord gazed upon the earth,– Psalm 102:19
The Lord has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men
To see if there are any who understand,
Who seek after God. — Psalm 14:2
God has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men
To see if there is anyone who understands,
Who seeks after God. — Psalm 53:2

Praise the Lord! A simple request for a deserving, worthy God. Praise Him in His sanctuary. The sanctuary, temple, a holy place. It is the place where God dwells. We are called to be holy, the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. Praise Him in His mighty expanse. The Creator of everything, indwelling in us desires our praise.

He looks down from His heavenly abode upon all His creation and He searches for any who understand, any who will seek Him. When He looks at your corner of the world what does He see?

To properly praise our God, we must have a spirit of praise. Where does that come from? From seeking Him continually. When we seek we understand because God reveals great and mighty things. When we seek we see the Lord at work. When we seek our hearts are softened and filled with praise. Seeking brings understanding, peace, and joy which is turned into praise!

So let us praise the Lord from a heart that seeks Him.

Continually seeking Him,

Sharon
