This verse can bring to mind the condition of the world we live in today. Wars. Shootings. Robberies. Violence everywhere.(Recommended reading: Psalm 55:1-2)
Why do You make me see iniquity, And cause me to look on wickedness? Yes, destruction and violence are before me; Strife exists and contention arises. Therefore the law is ignored (ineffectual; lit. numbed) And justice is never upheld (never goes forth). For the wicked surround the righteous; Therefore justice comes out perverted.

(Recommended reading: Psalm 55:9-11 and Isaiah 59:12-24, Isaiah 1:21-23)
We could be like Habakkuk, praying for God’s intervention. And yet the world doesn’t seem to be getting better, but worse. Where is our hope?
Our hope is in God alone.
