8. Journey to The Cross – Jesus is The Bread of Life

Simon Peter *said to Him, “Lord, where are You going?” Jesus answered, “Where I go, you cannot follow Me now; but you will follow later.”
John 13:36 NASB1995

Therefore Jesus said, “For a little while longer I am with you, then I go to Him who sent Me.
John 7:33 NASB1995

Those who follow Jesus now will follow Him into resurrection later.

As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me.  This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live forever.”
John 6:57-58 NASB1995

What a miraculous, wonderful, life worth living promise:

🌹After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also. In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.
John 14:19-20 NASB1995

Are you experiencing Jesus in you and you in Him?

The Last Passover

While they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
Matthew 26:26-29 NASB1995‬

Jesus blessed the bread. The bread represents His body that was broken. Crucified.
Jesus gave thanks for the cup. The cup that represents His blood poured out for many for the forgiveness of sin.
Jesus made a promise. A promise of hope for all believers and followers of His. The next time He drinks of the fruit of the vine will be when all believers are gathered in His Father’s kingdom.

Meditate this week on Jesus and His ultimate, sacrificial giving of Himself for you. On Friday Christians will celebrate the Lamb of God who sacrificed His life for them. As we celebrate let us remember Jesus died for all mankind. Pray for the lost who do not know the gift Jesus has for them. Take an opportunity to share the good news with someone this week. Invite them to a Good Friday service or share what this day is all about.

Lord, turn our hearts to You.

Continually Seeking Him,
