“However, the king said to Araunah, “No, but I will surely buy it from you for a price, for I will not offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God which cost me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.” 2 Samuel 24:24 NASB
What are you willing to sacrifice to God? What have you placed on the altar of God? Your Sunday morning in church? What about the rest of the week? Your mornings, or a designated time each day, to prayer and Bible reading? Your time to serve others? In and outside the church. To praying for and sharing the gospel with your neighbor? How much are you willing to used by God?
Jesus gave His life.
🌹saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised up on the third day.” And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. Luke 9:22-23 NASB
“Go and say to My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord, “Are you the one who should build Me a house to dwell in? For I have not dwelt in a house since the day I brought up the sons of Israel from Egypt, even to this day; but I have been moving about in a tent, even in a tabernacle. Wherever I have gone with all the sons of Israel, did I speak a word with one of the tribes of Israel, which I commanded to shepherd My people Israel, saying, ‘Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?’ ” ’ 2 Samuel 7:5-7 NASB
God was with Israel as they traveled (sojourned) across the wilderness and beyond as they entered into the promised land. God moved in a tent, the tabernacle.
Today God is with us in His Holy Spirit residing in us, His people, as we travel this wilderness on the way to the promised land.
Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, “I will dwell in them and walk among them; And I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 2 Corinthians 6:16 NASB
Is the Holy Spirit living in you? If yes, then is He moving freely to accomplish His will in you or are you trying to contain God in “a house made of cedar”?
