Mirror of Christ

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.
But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer (a doer of a work), this man will be blessed in what he does (his doing).
James 1:23-25 NASB1995

Are we hearers of the word, who read the word out of duty, so we can check the box of religious obedience? Do we go out into the world and forget to Whom we belong? The One Whom we represent?

As doers of the word we have a responsibility to read, meditate, and practice the word under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Just as Jesus mirrored the Father, we are the mirror of God to others. Do others see the Light of Jesus in us? Are our words, actions, deeds leading others to Christ? By the power of the Holy Spirit residing in us we will be an effectual doer.

Put the word into practice otherwise it is forgotten.

🌹But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.

God Created You

God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them;
Genesis 1:27-28a NASB1995‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/gen.1.27-28.NASB1995

God created you! Yes, YOU!!! And you were created in His image. My mind cannot grasp the fact of being made in the image of God, spiritual beings given life through Him, in His image. God has blessed us with life. God loved His creation so much that He wanted more like Him to bless.

As for you, be fruitful and multiply; Populate the earth abundantly and multiply in it.”
Genesis 9:7 NASB1995‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/gen.9.7.NASB1995

Can you grasp what a wonderful creation you are?

Pray:

For You (God) formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.
Psalms 139:13-14 NASB1995‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.139.13-14.NASB1995

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.
Psalms 139:17-18 NASB1995‬

🌹God loves you, His precious creation.
How are you honoring God with the life He gave you?

The Church – Christian

if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus, that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. Ephesians 4:21‭-‬24 NASB

Lord, as a Christian, one called by You unto salvation and a new life; help me daily to lay aside my old self which is corrupted with sin and be renewed in the spirit of my mind, putting on the new self, Your likeness which is Your righteousness, holiness and truth.

In Jesus name, amen.

If you have heard Him and been taught in Him:

In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation-having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, Ephesians 1:13 NASB

Rid yourself of the old self:

But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth.        Colossians 3:8 NASB. (See also: James 1:21, 1 Peter 2:1)

knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;   Romans 6:6 NASB

Put on the new self:

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts. Romans 13:14 NASB

Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.   Romans 6:4 NASB

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.2 Corinthians 5:17 NASB

and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him-Colossians 3:10 NASB

🌹Have you “indeed” “heard Him” and “been taught in Him”?
