Refuge, Shield and Shelter

Do homage (or lay hold of instruction) to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon (quickly, suddenly, easily) be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!
Psalms 2:12 NASB

ūüĆĻLord, let all who take refuge in You be glad. Let them sing for joy and may You shelter them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in You. For it is You who blesses the righteous man, O Lord. You surround him with favor as with a shield. As I pray, my heart cries out on behalf of Your people of the Ukraine, Lord. Shield and shelter them that they may sing praises to Your name. Praying also for those we are not aware of who are crying out to You needing Your shield and protection. May they all know that You are the Lord their God. To Your glory in Jesus name. Amen
(Psalms 5:11‭-‬12 NASB)

Words of The Book

‚ÄúGo, inquire of the Lord for me and for those who are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book which has been found; for great is the wrath of the Lord which is poured out on us because our fathers have not observed the word of the Lord, to do according to all that is written in this book.‚ÄĚ
2 Chronicles 34:21‭NASB

Regarding this “book which has been found”; I wonder where it had been and for how long. I wonder how many Bibles are sitting on shelves or packed in boxes that are unread. And now we stand in wonder at the wrath of God being poured out in the world today. Could it be because we “have not observed the word of the Lord, to do all that is written in this book”?

ūüĆĻLord God, as I open Your Holy word this morning, open my heart and soul to understanding so that I may honor You in my life by living according to all that is written in Your word.¬† Amen.

Walking in the Light of Life

Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, On those who wait for His faithfulness,
To rescue their soul from death And to keep them alive in famine.
Psalms 33:18-19 NASB

The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, And His ears are toward their cry for help.
Psalms 34:15 NASB

For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will glorify the lowly with salvation.
Psalms 149:4 NASB

The Lord favors those who fear Him, Those who wait for His faithfulness.
Psalms 147:11 NASB

For You have saved my soul from death,  Indeed (have You not delivered) my feet from stumbling, So that I may walk before God In the light of the living (or life).
Psalms 56:13 NASB

ūüĆĻOh the blessings of waiting for God’s faithfulness.

Why Am I So Blessed?

Have you ever asked God that question? Why me? Why Lord, do you bless me so abundantly?

God be gracious to us and bless us,¬† And cause His face to shine upon us‚ÄĒ Selah.

That Your way may be known on the earth, Your salvation among all nations.
Psalms 67:1‭-‬2 NASB

God blesses for His glory and mankind’s salvation.

Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You. Let the nations be glad and sing for joy; For You will judge the peoples with uprightness And guide the nations on the earth. Selah.

Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You. The earth has yielded its produce; God, our God, blesses us.

ūüĆĻ God blesses us, That all the ends of the earth may fear Him.
Psalms 67:3-‬7 NASB

Did It or Not To Me

The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’
Matthew 25:40 NASB

Then He will answer them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ Matthew 25:45 NASB

These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
Matthew 25:46 NASB

God is all about people. He created them. He pursues a relationship with them. He pours out blessings on those who are His.

Since God is all about people, should we not also be?

During this time of Covid, many people are isolated in their homes with little to no human contact. Have we checked on our brothers and sisters who are not gathering with us for church? Do we take the time to “do for one of these”?

ūüĆĻWho has God placed on your heart, in your mind to reach out to? “to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.”

Name of God

For from the rising of the sun even to its setting, My name will be great among the nations,                      Malachi 1:11a NASB

If you do not listen, and if you do not take it to heart to give honor to My name,” says the Lord of hosts, “then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings; and indeed, I have cursed them already, because you are not taking it to heart.¬† Malachi 2:2‚Ä≠ NASB

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† 1 Peter 2:9 NASB

“My covenant with him was one of life and peace, and I gave them to him as an object of reverence; so he revered Me and stood in awe of My name. True instruction was in his mouth and unrighteousness was not found on his lips; he walked with Me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many back from iniquity. For the lips of a priest should preserve knowledge, and men should seek instruction from his mouth; for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts. Malachi 2:2‚Ä≠, ‚Ĩ5‚Ä≠-‚Ĩ7 NASB

God takes His name seriously and your role in the priesthood of the saints. We are His possession for the proclaiming of His excellencies.

How do we do this? By speaking truth from our lips, which comes by the reading and study of God’s word and walking with Him in peace and uprightness. We are the messengers of God to turn many back from iniquity, sin.

You can’t help but stand in awe of His name when walking intimately with God. And you can’t help but speak His truth when when you do.

ūüĆĻDo you stand in awe of His name?

If Only

If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments so as to carry them out, then¬†I shall give you rains in their season, so that the land will yield its produce and the trees of the field will bear their fruit.¬†Indeed, your threshing will last for you until grape gathering, and grape gathering will last until sowing time. You will thus eat your¬†food to the full and¬†live securely in your land.¬†I shall also grant peace in the land, so that¬†you may lie down with no one making¬†you tremble.¬†I shall also eliminate harmful beasts from the land, and¬†no sword will pass through your land.¬†But you will chase your enemies and they will fall before you by the sword;¬†five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall before you by the sword.¬†So I will turn toward you and¬†make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will¬†confirm My covenant with you.¬†You will eat the old supply and clear out the old because of the new.¬†Moreover, I will make My¬† dwelling among you, and My soul will not¬†reject you.¬†I will also walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people. — Leviticus 26:3-12

If . . . Then. I remember a time when the hand of God was upon the United States. We were a blessed nation because we stood on the foundation and belief in Jesus Christ. We were a respected nation. What happened? We have ceased (as a nation) to obey the God who was walking amongst us. We have ceased to be His blessed nation.

If only. . . . . . . .

Wise Counsel

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.

— Psalm 1:1-3

Blessing And Righteousness

He shall receive a blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. — Psalm 24:5

What a wonderful gift for practising a life with clean hands and a pure heart. Jesus is the best gift anyone could receive. He is our blessing and our righteousness. He is to be pursued, sought. He is the answer. He is the way. He is truth. He is life.

Do you want life, blessing, righteousness? Seek Jesus Christ and His free gift of salvation. He is waiting. Won’t you come?

that¬†if you confess with your mouth Jesus¬†as¬†Lord, and¬†believe in your heart that¬†God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;¬†for with the heart a person believes,¬†resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses,¬†resulting in salvation. — Romans 10:9-10

Independence Day

Blessed is the nation whose God is the¬†Lord, The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance. — Psalm 33:12

As the United States of America celebrates it’s birthday today I look to the history of this great nation. A nation that was built on the fundamental truths of the Word of God. A nation that at one time believed in the standard set by the Ten Commandments. A nation that believed in prayer so much, to the One true God of our nation, that prayer was practiced in our schools, judicial institutions, and our homes. A nation that was respected for it’s truthfulness, hospitality, and humanitarianism. I remember a time when the National anthem was played that every hat was removed and every hand was placed over ones heart in respect and honor of our nation. I remember being on a military base at 5 pm and hearing taps being played over the whole post via loud speaker — every car would stop, the soldier in the car would get out of the vehicle and either salute, if in uniform, or place their hand over their heart if not, — face toward the flag until taps was finished playing.

My heart is saddened as I look at our nation now where the standard by which we should set our laws is “anything goes”. There is no standard so no wonder there is such confusion as to what is right and what is wrong. Prayer was taken out of our schools, so no wonder the children of today do not know the saving grace of a Mighty God who strengthens, protects, and exalts a nation. And the pledge of allegiance? There is little love, respect, allegiance, sacrifice or thankfulness to our nation or to those who served to make this nation great.

I don’t know about you but I see a deterioration of this great nation and hope that we wake up to the need for God in our nation before we wake up to a brand new nation that will not be called the United States of America.

So this day, as you celebrate, take a few moments to reflect on what this day is really celebrating. A nation that has been blessed because we have been one nation under God!
