You shall be holy, for the Lord God is holy. Leviticus 19:2 NASB1995¹
Be blameless – complete, perfect, or having integrity – before the Lord. Deuteronomy 18:13 NASB1995²

Let us strive to be holy before God as Jesus has demonstrated. Wholly committed to His way, His truth, His will.

Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

As Paul said,
🌹Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.

Speaking the Gospel

Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; . . . so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
1 Peter 4:11a, c NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/1pe.4.11.NASB1995

What a privilege we have to be entrusted with the gospel of Jesus Christ. To tell people about the saving grace we embrace. But do we? Are we embarrassed, ashamed, afraid? Fear is the greatest deterrent I’ve found to sharing the gospel. Fear of rejection being at the top of the list. Contentment in our own salvation is another. God commands us to go into all the world and make disciples, so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who examines our hearts.
1 Thessalonians 2:4; Matthew 28:19-20 NASB1995

So, what can we do?

🌹Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;
Ephesians 5:1 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/eph.5.1.NASB1995

To the family of God.

Ephesians 4:32 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/eph.4.32.NASB1995

Seeing their faith, He said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven you.”
Luke 5:20 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/luk.5.20.NASB1995

So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.
Colossians 3:12-13 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/col.3.12-13.NASB1995

Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.
Colossians 3:14 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/col.3.14.NASB1995

Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,
1 Corinthians 13:4 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/1co.13.4.NASB1995

🌹To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit;
1 Peter 3:8 NASB1995

To the glory of God!

Imitator of God – Pt. 2

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;
Ephesians 5:1 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/eph.5.1.NASB1995

Becoming wholly undivided as God is.

Be (Become) merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
“Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned.
Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.”
Luke 6:36-38 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100 /luk.6.36-38.NASB1995

🌹But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.

Imitator of God – Pt. 1

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;
Ephesians 5:1 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/eph.5.1.NASB1995

“Speak to all the congregation of the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.
Leviticus 19:2 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/lev.19.2.NASB1995

Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Matthew 5:48 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/mat.5.48.NASB1995

You shall be blameless (complete, perfect or having integrity) before the Lord your God.
Deuteronomy 18:13 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/deu.18.13.NASB1995

Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you;
Philippians 3:12-15 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/php.3.12-15.NASB1995

🌹Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

3 John 11

Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God.
3 John 11 NASB

God, it is sometimes so hard to live a godly life when all around me evil resides. I see it, hear it, and sometimes I am the receiver of it. I pray Lord God to be strengthened by the power of the blood to depart from evil and do good; to seek peace and pursue it so I will abide forever in Your righteousness. Help me Jesus to imitate good and practice righteousness as You have demonstrated. I want to be known as Your child by walking in Your righteousness Jesus practicing until I see You in all Your glory. Amen.
