Overcome

What a week, plus it has been. Don’t think I have ever been that sick. I can sure relate to Job a lot more now although I believe I am blessed with better friends. The outpouring of prayers and being checked on frequently blessed me beyond measure. I am loved.

Not writing, barely finding the strength to read God’s Holy word, did give me time to contemplate, ponder the affects of sickness which were definitely out of my control. How do I handle this situation in which I find myself and have no control over it?

During this journey, this verse intrigued me.

for by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved.
2 Peter 2:19b NASB

What can overcome us?
Grief, Sorrow, lust of the eyes, illness, wellness, self centeredness, worry, loneliness, stress, success, poverty, well-being, life itself ‐ good or bad.

I prayed and cried out to the Lord for healing. I was tired of being sick and overcome with this illness. I had enough!!!!! O, our God is so good. He listened. He brought to mind the disciples on the lake being tossed about by the storm. He reminded me that all things work together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. I came to realize that nothing happens to me that isn’t sifted through my God’s hands. What was the worst that could happen? Death? NO! That is the victory!! Everything is under the control of the Sovereign God and everything happens for a reason and purpose. Maybe I needed to be refocused on what is really important – God Himself. Maybe I needed to learn to persevere when things aren’t so great. Maybe I needed to realize I have a BIG, BIG God who loves me and is with me through every hurting, scary, uncertain moment of my life because He is my peace, comfort, joy, strength, hope, my all in all.

I want to be “enslaved” to the Spirit of God living in me.

🌹For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

Just Be There

Job, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning away from evil, who held fast his integrity, was smitten with sore boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head by Satan. (Job 2:3‭, ‬7 NASB)

Well, when Job’s three friends heard of all this adversity that had come upon him, they met up and came together to sympathize with him and comfort him.
Job 2:11 NASB

When the friends arrived, looking upon Job from a distance and noticing their friends adversity, composed themselves and joined Job.

they sat down on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights with no one speaking a word to him, for they saw that his pain was very great.
Job 2:13 NASB

🌹Sometimes we don’t need to say anything. We just need to be there. We don’t always have the answers or know what to say. They just need someone to be near.
