Heart & Mind

“As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.
1 Chronicles 28:9 NASB

Do I know God?
Do I serve Him with my WHOLE heart?
Do I serve Him with a WILLING mind?

God of my Father, I seek to know You and serve You with my whole heart and a willing mind. I pray that when You search my heart You will find my heart is wholly devoted to You, Lord God, and my thoughts bring glory to Your name. May I show my devotion by walking in Your statutes and keeping Your commandments. Lord, Your word promises that You are with me. I am with You, my God. Do not hide Yourself from me, Lord, I seek Your will for I know You will forsake the one who forsakes You. Examine me, O Lord, and try me; Test my mind and my heart then I shall walk in my integrity. Redeem me and be gracious to me, O Lord I pray. Amen
1 Kings 8:61/2 Chronicles 15:2/Psalm 26:2/Psalms 26:11 NASB

🌹 God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Time for God

Some of you may remember a time when Sunday was a day of rest. The only thing open on Sunday was the church. Worship of God was a priority along with the fellowship of the saints. There was time spent with family around the table and a relaxing time in preparation for the new work week.
Now life is 24/7. The busyness of life has infiltrated our homes, businesses, world. 24 hour entertainment influencing our values. Cell phones consuming our time to the point that fellowship with others is suffering.
Where does God fit in?

God made the Sabbath for a purpose. To be still and know that He is God. . .

It is to be a sabbath of complete rest to you, and you shall humble your souls.”
Leviticus 23:32a NASB

Tremble, and do not sin; Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.
Psalms 4:4b NASB

For thus the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, has said, “In repentance and rest you will be saved, In quietness and trust is your strength.” But you were not willing,
Isaiah 30:15 NASB

Are you willing? Will you make time for God?

Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.
Isaiah 40:31 NASB

O God, do not remain quiet; Do not be silent and, O God, do not be still.
Psalms 83:1 NASB

Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
Isaiah 41:10 NASB

Enough!

Bad news bombarding the airwaves. Social media. Advertising. Covid. Flu. People dying. Arguments over what’s right or wrong. Wars and rumors of war. Economic concerns. Fear grips every level of society.

Have you ever just wanted to scream, “ENOUGH”?

Life can be overwhelming. But God. . .

He says, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30 NASB

The victory is in Jesus!!

These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33 NASB

So what can we do to hush the noise of the world and trust God in the mayhem? Go to prayer:

But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
Matthew 6:6 NASB

AND

“Cease striving (Be still) and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Psalms 46:10 NASB

Seek by Prayer

Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
Jeremiah 29:12 NASB

O Lord, You hear the desire of the humble; You strengthen their heart, You incline Your ear. So may our hearts give attention to You, Lord God, to seek You by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth and ashes. God, You have told us to call to you and You will answer, and tell us great and mighty things which we do not know!! You have told us, through Your holy word, to call upon You in the day of trouble; You will rescue us, and we will honor You, Lord God! Thank You, God, for listening. Thank You for hearing our prayers. Thank You for bringing us from darkness into Your marvelous Light! We humbly bow before You and worship Your holy name. . . Amen.
Psalms 10:17/Daniel 9:3/Jeremiah 33:3/Psalms 50:15 NASB

🌹Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart.

Building on the Foundation

Building on the foundation which is Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:11)

You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13 NASB

Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face continually. Psalm 105:4 NASB

Prayer:

🌹When You said, “Seek My face,” my heart said to You, “Your face, O Lord, I shall seek.” I sought You, Lord, and You answered me, And delivered me from all my fears. The poor man cried, and Lord, You heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The righteous cry, and Lord, You hear and deliver them out of all their troubles. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but You, Lord, deliver them out of them all. Lord, You are the Redeemer of the souls of Your servants, and none of these who take refuge in You will be condemned. It is You who I will seek continually. In Your name, Jesus, and for Your glory, I pray, amen.  Psalms 27:8/Psalms 34:4, 6‭, ‬17‭, ‬19‭, ‬22 NASB

How’s Your Foundation?

Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.

But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.”
Luke 6:47-‬49 NASB

Recommended reading: Matthew 7:24-27 and James 1:22-25

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne O God, and I will search Your word and strive to act upon it so I can muster the storms of life, well built on the Rock of my salvation. I am seeking the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is You, God. It is there that I shall store up for myself a good foundation for the future, so that I may take hold of that which is life indeed! And when the whirlwind passes, the wicked will be no more, but Your righteous ones have an everlasting foundation in You. Praise Your holy name, amen.
Psalm 89:14/Psalm 97:2/Hebrews 11:10/1 Timothy 6:19/Proverbs 10:25 NASB

🌹For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work.

Lord?

“Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?
Luke 6:46 NASB

I can’t help but wonder how my salvation measures up to this verse. Lord. Lord is one who has authority, control, or power over others; a master, chief, or ruler. Is Jesus master of my life? Do I surrender to His authority? His control? His power? Or am I content believing I am saved, sealed for eternity and can live my life the way I want to and not do what my Lord says?

🌹“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
Matthew 7:21 NASB

Fell to the Ground

So Jesus, knowing all the things that were coming upon Him, went forth and *said to them, “Whom do you seek?” They answered Him, “Jesus the Nazarene.” He *said to them, “I am He.” And Judas also, who was betraying Him, was standing with them. So when He said to them, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground.
John 18:4‭-‬6 NASB

In my Sunday Bible Study yesterday we were looking at John 18:1-21.
As many times as I have read this passage I was amazed that I never noticed the response of the Roman regiment and officers.
Jesus asked, “Whom do you seek?” When they answered, “Jesus the Nazarene”, Jesus said, “I am”. Did you catch that? “I AM”.

I am a shield – Genesis – 15:1
I am the Lord – Genesis – 15:7
I am God Almighty – Genesis 17:1
I am with you and will keep you – Genesis 28:15
I AM WHO I AM – Exodus 3:14
(There are a whole lot more “I Am”s in the Bible.)

But now let’s look at the response. . .
So when He said to them, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground.

They drew back and FELL TO THE GROUND!!!!!

They had no power over Jesus. Jesus willingly submitted to the Father’s will and allowed them to take Him into custody. God’s will was about to be fulfilled for our salvation. The door to be opened for our eternal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Do you believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior?
Do you have the joy of the Lord?
Are you secure that you will live forever in peace and tranquility?

There are only two choices, believe and be saved or deny Christ and die. Either live in eternal peace with God or die eternally in pain and suffering.

Either choice you make you will fall to the ground. Some will fall in fear and regret. Some will fall in thankfulness. But all will fall in awe.

What are you choosing?

🌹For it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall give praise to God.”
Romans 14:11 NASB

🌹so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Slave to Win

For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may win more.
1 Corinthians 9:19 NASB

God, as a bond-servant to others for Jesus’ sake, I pray I would proclaim Jesus Christ, Your Son, is Lord. God, help me to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, to save some. Give me strength and courage to do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings. Help me, God, to not just do what is best for me but do what is best for others so that many may be saved. Use me for Your glory and the growing of Your kingdom, Lord, I pray, amen.
2 Corinthians 4:5/1 Corinthians 9:22‭b-‬23/1 Corinthians 10:33 NASB
