Fell to the Ground

So Jesus, knowing all the things that were coming upon Him, went forth and *said to them, “Whom do you seek?” They answered Him, “Jesus the Nazarene.” He *said to them, “I am He.” And Judas also, who was betraying Him, was standing with them. So when He said to them, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground.
John 18:4‭-‬6 NASB

In my Sunday Bible Study yesterday we were looking at John 18:1-21.
As many times as I have read this passage I was amazed that I never noticed the response of the Roman regiment and officers.
Jesus asked, “Whom do you seek?” When they answered, “Jesus the Nazarene”, Jesus said, “I am”. Did you catch that? “I AM”.

I am a shield – Genesis – 15:1
I am the Lord – Genesis – 15:7
I am God Almighty – Genesis 17:1
I am with you and will keep you – Genesis 28:15
I AM WHO I AM – Exodus 3:14
(There are a whole lot more “I Am”s in the Bible.)

But now let’s look at the response. . .
So when He said to them, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground.

They drew back and FELL TO THE GROUND!!!!!

They had no power over Jesus. Jesus willingly submitted to the Father’s will and allowed them to take Him into custody. God’s will was about to be fulfilled for our salvation. The door to be opened for our eternal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Do you believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior?
Do you have the joy of the Lord?
Are you secure that you will live forever in peace and tranquility?

There are only two choices, believe and be saved or deny Christ and die. Either live in eternal peace with God or die eternally in pain and suffering.

Either choice you make you will fall to the ground. Some will fall in fear and regret. Some will fall in thankfulness. But all will fall in awe.

What are you choosing?

🌹For it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall give praise to God.”
Romans 14:11 NASB

🌹so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:10‭-‬11 NASB

Disconnecting Day 2b

The same Sunday. Now it is church service.

Music that morning:
*The Potter’s Hand: Beautiful Lord, Wonderful Savior, I know for sure all of my days are held in Your hands, crafted into Your perfect plan.
*I Need Thee Every Hour
*Without Him
     – I could do nothing
     – I’d surely fail
     – I would be drifting
     – How lost I would be
     – I’d be dying
     – I’d be enslaved
     – life would be hopeless
But with Him I am SAVED!!!
Created by Him, for Him. I need Him and without Him I am NOTHING!!!

Sermon was from John 15:1-5. One of my favorite passages.

As the branch receives all it needs from the vine, we find all sufficient grace in Christ. All we need!
– God is an expert at producing fruit – it is His plan
– God is I AM (Exodus 3:14)
I AM
     – Bread of life (John 6:35)
     – Light of the world (John 8:12)
     – the door (John 10:9)
     – the Good Shepherd (John 10:11)
     – the Resurrection & Life (John 11:25)
     – the way, truth and life (John 14:6)
     – the True Vine, Father the Vinedresser (John 15:1)

When “we do”, we miss putting Jesus in the center of all we do, leaving Him out.
Jesus is the source of the branch’s (our) power! As a Christian, EVERYTHING has to be done for the glory of God! We can do nothing without Him.

🌹Take time to be still. Be there. ABIDE. And remember that we are the branch – every breath, every step is from God.

Pray: Lord, be fruitful in whatever You have for me today.

God

“Cease striving and know that I am God; — Psalm 46:10

God: the sole Supreme Being, eternal, spiritual, and transcendent, who is the Creator and ruler of all and is infinite in all attributes; the object of worship in monotheistic religions*

For I am God and not man, the Holy One in your midst, And I will not come in wrath. (Hosea 11:9b) Behold, to the Lord your God belong heaven and the highest heavens, the earth and all that is in it. (Deuteronomy 10:14) Know therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments; (Deuteronomy 7:9) For the Lord your God is a compassionate God; He will not fail you nor destroy you nor forget the covenant with your fathers which He swore to them. (Deuteronomy 4:31)

‘O Lord God, You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your strong hand; for what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do such works and mighty acts as Yours? (Deuteronomy 3:24) For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as is the Lord our God whenever we call on Him? (Deuteronomy 4:7) “The eternal God is a dwelling place, And underneath are the everlasting arms; And He drove out the enemy from before you, And said, ‘Destroy!’ (Deuteronomy 33:27) for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.’(Deuteronomy 20:4) Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6) You shall not dread them, for the Lord your God is in your midst, a great and awesome God. (Deuteronomy 7:21)

To you it was shown that you might know that the Lord, He is God; there is no other besides Him. (Deuteronomy 4:35) For the Lord your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God who does not show partiality nor take a bribe. (Deuteronomy 10:17) “Moreover the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live. (Deuteronomy 30:6) Now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require from you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, (Deuteronomy 10:12)

I found it very interesting that in all the I am’s I found, the list for “Lord” had the most references. I was once told that if the Bible stated something more than once it must be a very important message the Lord wants us to know. As I look over the list I see how easy it is accept that our God is King, a shield, a helper, teacher, etc. but when it comes to Lord it is a little harder to swallow. For God to be Lord of my life I must surrender all that I have, all that I am to His will and purpose. Hmm, could that be why the great I AM spoke so often, “I am Lord”?

Is He Lord of your life?

Continually seeking Him,
