He (Jesus) entered Jericho and was passing through. And there was a man called by the name of Zaccheus; he was a chief tax collector and he was rich. When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” And he hurried and came down and received Him gladly (rejoicing). Zaccheus stopped and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I will give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will give back four times as much.” And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:1-2, 5-6, 8-10 NASB
Was Zaccheus convicted in the presence of the Almighty? He confessed that he would make restitution, and this was according to the law. Jesus sought out Zaccheus, just as He seeks out and saves all who are lost. By the law we are convicted.
because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin. Romans 3:20 NASB
By faith we are saved.
🌹For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith. Romans 4:13 NASB
My Dad passed away 9 years ago today. This is what I shared at his memorial service:
I would like to tell you about the greatest gift my Dad ever gave me. This gift is a gift that he actually received. This was and is a gift that doesn’t lose its value when re-gifted. This is a gift, because he accepted it, which affected many, many people. This gift, like a diamond, has many facets. This gift comes wrapped in strength, peace and assurance. The greatest gift my Dad gave to me was the gift of salvation that he received from Jesus Christ! When Jesus was being led away to His crucifixion there was a large crowd following Him — women were mourning and lamenting Him. Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, stop weeping for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.”* My Dad is with Jesus now and O the peace that brings to me and the strength to carry on. John 14:27-28 says, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. You heard that I said to you, ‘I go away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced because I go to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.” As Jesus said — weep for yourselves and for your children — Dad is at peace, experiencing joy as never before — my concern here is . . . do you know Jesus? Have you received the gift Jesus has for you so that when you pass, your loved one can have the assurance and peace of your salvation and the strength to carry on? There is no greater gift you can re-gift to anyone than to receive the greatest gift ever given – the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Please, if you do not have the assurance of where you are headed in death – come talk to me or someone you know who knows Jesus. It makes all the difference. Thank You Jesus for my Dad’s salvation, my salvation and the peace and assurance of where Dad is. All praise and glory to You, my God. Amen.
Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.
But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.” Luke 6:47-49 NASB

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne O God, and I will search Your word and strive to act upon it so I can muster the storms of life, well built on the Rock of my salvation. I am seeking the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is You, God. It is there that I shall store up for myself a good foundation for the future, so that I may take hold of that which is life indeed! And when the whirlwind passes, the wicked will be no more, but Your righteous ones have an everlasting foundation in You. Praise Your holy name, amen. Psalm 89:14/Psalm 97:2/Hebrews 11:10/1 Timothy 6:19/Proverbs 10:25 NASB
🌹For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work. 1 Corinthians 3:11-13 NASB
So Jesus, knowing all the things that were coming upon Him, went forth and *said to them, “Whom do you seek?” They answered Him, “Jesus the Nazarene.” He *said to them, “I am He.” And Judas also, who was betraying Him, was standing with them. So when He said to them, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground. John 18:4-6 NASB
In my Sunday Bible Study yesterday we were looking at John 18:1-21. As many times as I have read this passage I was amazed that I never noticed the response of the Roman regiment and officers. Jesus asked, “Whom do you seek?” When they answered, “Jesus the Nazarene”, Jesus said, “I am”. Did you catch that? “I AM”.
I am a shield – Genesis – 15:1 I am the Lord – Genesis – 15:7 I am God Almighty – Genesis 17:1 I am with you and will keep you – Genesis 28:15 I AM WHO I AM – Exodus 3:14 (There are a whole lot more “I Am”s in the Bible.)
But now let’s look at the response. . . So when He said to them, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground.
They drew back and FELL TO THE GROUND!!!!!
They had no power over Jesus. Jesus willingly submitted to the Father’s will and allowed them to take Him into custody. God’s will was about to be fulfilled for our salvation. The door to be opened for our eternal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Do you believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior? Do you have the joy of the Lord? Are you secure that you will live forever in peace and tranquility?
There are only two choices, believe and be saved or deny Christ and die. Either live in eternal peace with God or die eternally in pain and suffering.
Either choice you make you will fall to the ground. Some will fall in fear and regret. Some will fall in thankfulness. But all will fall in awe.
What are you choosing?
🌹For it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall give praise to God.” Romans 14:11 NASB
🌹so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:10-11 NASB
For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may win more. 1 Corinthians 9:19 NASB
God, as a bond-servant to others for Jesus’ sake, I pray I would proclaim Jesus Christ, Your Son, is Lord. God, help me to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, to save some. Give me strength and courage to do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings. Help me, God, to not just do what is best for me but do what is best for others so that many may be saved. Use me for Your glory and the growing of Your kingdom, Lord, I pray, amen. 2 Corinthians 4:5/1 Corinthians 9:22b-23/1 Corinthians 10:33 NASB
🌹And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Mark 16:15 NASB
The people who walk in darkness Will see a great light; Those who live in a dark land, The light will shine on them. Isaiah 9:2 NASB
O let us give thanks to You Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light. You rescued us from the domain of darkness, in which we formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience and transferred us to the kingdom of Your beloved Son, Jesus! God You know we were formerly darkness, but now we are Light in the Lord Jesus. Guide our feet to shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death. Use us to walk as children of Light so as to open the eyes of those walking in darkness that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Christ.’ God, cause the Light of Jesus to shine through us into the darkness so they will see the great Light and find peace. Use us for Your glory, Lord God, in whose name I pray, amen. Colossians 1:12-13/Ephesians 2:2/Ephesians 5:8/Luke 1:79/Acts 26:18 NASB
🌹The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Romans 13:12 NASB
Cry aloud and shout for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, For great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel. Isaiah 12:6 NASB
As Sunday, the 25th of December, is celebrated in many countries around the world, I wondered how many are experiencing the Holy One of Israel in their midst. How many will be crying aloud and shouting for joy as we celebrate the coming of Christ in the flesh?
Shout for joy, O heavens, for the Lord has done it! Shout joyfully, you lower parts of the earth; Break forth into a shout of joy, you mountains, O forest, and every tree in it; For the Lord has redeemed Jacob And in Israel He shows forth His glory. Isaiah 44:23 NASB
Jesus did it! He came to redeem and He shows forth His glory in every redeemed child of His. Is that not something to shout joyfully about? All God’s creation rejoicing together over the great things He has done!!
But now, thus says the Lord, your Creator, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; Isaiah 43:1, 3a NASB
Let heaven and earth praise Him, The seas and everything that moves in them. Psalms 69:34 NASB
Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; Let the sea roar, and all it contains; Let the field exult, and all that is in it. Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy Before the Lord, for He is coming, For He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness And the peoples in His faithfulness. Psalms 96:11-13 NASB
O Holy One of Israel, I will shout for joy and in triumph! I will rejoice and exult in the Holy One with all my heart! You, Lord have taken away Your judgments against me. Hallelujah to the King of Israel, my Lord!! Abide in our midst; so we need not fear any more. Glory to the Holy One in our midst! Jesus is His name! Amen. Zephaniah 3:14-15 NASB
🌹Sing for joy and be glad, O daughter of Zion; for behold I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” declares the Lord. “Many nations will join themselves to the Lord in that day and will become My people. Then I will dwell in your midst, and you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you. Zechariah 2:10-11 NASB “Be silent, all flesh, before the Lord; for He is aroused from His holy habitation.” Zechariah 2:13 NASB
“Living Water” from December 16, 2022 devotion, Isaiah 12:3 mentions drawing water from the springs of salvation. Today we look at the response of those who draw this “Living Water “.
And in that day you will say, “Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; Make them remember that (proclaim to them that) His name is exalted.” Praise the Lord in song, for He has done excellent things (gloriously); Let this be known throughout the earth. Isaiah 12:4-5 NASB
Oh Lord, I give You thanks as I call upon Your name. Out of gratefulness for my salvation I will make known Your deeds among the peoples; proclaiming that Your name is exalted!! I pray one generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts. I pray men will speak of the power of Your awesome acts, and I will tell of Your greatness. I pray Your people will eagerly utter the memory of Your abundant goodness and will shout joyfully of Your righteousness. All Your works shall give thanks to You, O Lord, And Your godly ones shall bless You. They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and talk of Your power; to make known to the sons of men Your mighty acts and the glory of the majesty of Your kingdom. Again, I thank You for the privilege of participating in Your kingdom growth. Use me, Lord, I pray. May You be exalted in my actions to Your glory, amen. Psalms 105:1/Psalms 145:4, 6-7, 10-12 NASB
How will you respond?
🌹O sing to the Lord a new song, For He has done wonderful things, His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him. The Lord has made known His salvation; He has revealed His righteousness in the sight of the nations. Psalms 98:1-2 NASB
“Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the Lord God is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.” Therefore you will joyously draw water From the springs of salvation. Isaiah 12:2-3 NASB
🌹God of my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid, as I practice being steadfast of mind, for You will keep me in perfect peace because I trust in You. You are my strength and song and have become my salvation! You are my God and I will praise You; my father’s God and I will extol You! You are my salvation and I thank You for the gift of living water I have the privilege to partake of from the springs of salvation. From my innermost being flows the river of living water, Your Holy Spirit, because I believe in You, Jesus. May I share this gift of living water with others who are thirsty that they also may partake of the living water of salvation. In Jesus name and for His glory I pray, amen. Isaiah 26:3/Exodus 15:2/John 4:10/John 7:37-38 NASB
