Is

“Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.”
Zechariah 4:6b NASB

“But by My Spirit”

“Woe to the rebellious children,” declares the Lord, “Who execute a plan, but not Mine, And make an alliance, but not of My Spirit, In order to add sin to sin;”
Isaiah 30:1 NASB

“but not of My Spirit,”

“Thus says the Lord, “Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind And makes flesh his strength, And whose heart turns away from the Lord.”
Jeremiah 17:5 NASB

We make plans. We put our trust in alliances that are not of God. We trust in our own intellect, our own weak strengths. But did not God give us His Spirit to teach, guide, protect, strengthen by His power and might? Our hearts are turned away when we trust in anything or anyone other than the Lord Himself.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord And whose trust is the Lord.”
Jeremiah 17:7 NASB

Not only trusting IN Him but whose trust IS Him.

You Are Responsible

When I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. Yet if you have warned the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered yourself.
Ezekiel 3:18‭-‬19 NASB

Most up us know that God has sent us to share the gospel message to the unsaved, those walking in blindness and their wickedness. The message of salvation is our responsibility as the children of God. His disciples. His ambassadors. It is a responsibility God takes seriously. Do you?

But I’m not so sure that we take seriously the guidance of the family of God.

Again, when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I place an obstacle before him, he will die; since you have not warned him, he shall die in his sin, and his righteous deeds which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand. However, if you have warned the righteous man that the righteous should not sin and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning; and you have delivered yourself.”
Ezekiel 3:20-‬21 NASB

God created His church that we may encourage one another in the faith but to also draw a wayward soul back to repentance. We cannot stand silent while our brother or sister walk away from the Lord. Our hearts should break at the waywardness of another child of God. There are consequences for us if we do not counsel the wayward one.

The good news is that we do not have to do it alone.

But when I speak to you, I will open your mouth and you will say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God.’ He who hears, let him hear; and he who refuses, let him refuse; for they are a rebellious house.
Ezekiel 3:27 NASB

To accomplish God’s will you must be walking in a personal relationship with Him so that you can clearly hear His guidance.
(That means knowing His Word (the Bible), praying, being part of the community of God (fellowship).

ūüĆĻGod gives us the courage, strength, words of counsel to speak truth to others, lost as well as the saved.

Joy

You, O Lord, rule forever; Your throne is from generation to generation. Lamentations 5:19 NASB

Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of joy above Your fellows.
Psalms 45:6‭-‬7 NASB

Are you anointed with the oil of joy?

There is much joy to be found in knowing God is eternally seated on His throne. Our God who rules in righteousness and justice and love.

On awakening this morning and checking on the hurricane hitting the Louisiana and Texas coast, I read “this could have been so much worse”. Were you praying for the people in the path of this storm? God answered prayer. It may not have been the way we wanted but it was better than expected. Did you thank Him for His mercy in this situation?

As numbers seem to be rising in Covid cases, are you turning to, relying on the One who sits upon the eternal throne? God has this. Are you abiding in His strong tower? Is He your refuge?

But You, O Lord, abide forever, And Your name to all generations.
Psalms 102:12 NASB

God is your only hope in a world seeking their own way, truth and life. Jesus is the only way, truth and life and no one comes to the throne of the Father but by Him. Can you rejoice in that? Can you enter into the Holy of holies and bow before the throne? If not it is time to bow down in surrender to God and His will. That is where real joy is found even when everything around you is falling down.

“But You are the same, And Your years will not come to an end.
Psalms 102:27 NASB

Hallelujah!

ūüĆĻThe joy of the Lord is our strength.

Everlasting Rock

Who is among you that fears the Lord, That obeys the voice of His servant, That walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God. Isaiah 50:10 NASB

The darkness of the world is all around us. People are living in fear and uncertainty. This environment can cause the one who fears the Lord, that obeys Jesus, is a child of God, to walk in darkness and fear just as the world fears. What is the answer?

“trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.”

Long for the presence of the Lord. Seek Him diligently. Learn God’s righteousness. Experience His sovereignty.

At night my soul longs for You,
Indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently;
For when the earth experiences Your judgments
The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. Isaiah 26:9

God is at work. Let Him fulfill His will.

I will go away and return to My place
Until they acknowledge their guilt and seek My face; In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me. Hosea 5:15

Prayer:

‚ÄúGod, You are my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For¬†You, Lord God,¬†are my strength and song, And You have become my salvation.‚ÄĚ Isaiah 12:2

ūüĆĻTrust in the¬†Lord¬†forever, For in¬†God the¬† Lord,¬†we have¬†an everlasting¬†Rock. Isaiah 26:4

Seeking Generation

The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains,

The world, and those who dwell in it.
2 For He has founded it upon the seas
And established it upon the rivers.
3 Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord?
And who may stand in His holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood
And has not sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall receive a blessing from the Lord
And righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 This is the generation of those who seek Him,
Who seek Your face‚ÄĒeven¬† Jacob. ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬†Selah. ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬†— Psalm 24:1-6

Do we have a generation of seekers alive today? Who are those of the generation who seek Him, who seek His face?

Could it be those who dwell upon the earth knowing that the Lord is the Creator of the earth and all that it contains? Those who believe the world and they themselves belong to God? Could that person or persons have clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted their souls to falsehood nor sworn deceitfully and been blessed? Are you that person who has received righteousness from the God of your salvation and been granted entry into the Lord’s holy presence? Do you seek Him?

We need a generation that Seeks the Lord and His strength; that seeks His face continually. (Psalm 105:4) Are you a part of that generation?

O Lord

¬†Yours, O¬†Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.¬†¬†Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone.¬†Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name. — 1 Chronicles 29:11-13

And forgive us when we do not acknowledge that You are. Open our eyes to see your splendor that we may be reminded that you are worthy to be praised, thanked, exalted, and revered. Only You are head over all. All things come from You. All we need is You! Help our lips to speak Your praise, not only to others but to You, O Lord,.

Amen.

What?! Others first?

Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of¬†those without strength and not¬†just please ourselves.¬†Each of us is to¬†please his neighbor¬†for his good, to his¬† edification.¬†For even¬†Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, ‚ÄúThe reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me.‚ÄĚ — Romans 15:1-3

What?! Life is not about just pleasing myself? I’m supposed to live my life to edify my neighbor for¬†his/her¬†good? I’m supposed to do as Christ did? There’s my answer if I am a true disciple/follower of Christ.

Grace Given

But¬†to each one of us¬†grace was given¬†according to the measure of Christ‚Äôs gift. — Ephesians 4:7

For through¬†the grace given to me I say to everyone among you¬†not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to¬†each a measure of faith. — Romans 12:3

So what are you doing with the grace and faith you have been given?

Whoever speaks,¬†is to do so¬†as one who is speaking the¬†utterances of God; whoever serves¬†is to do so¬†as one who is serving¬†by the strength which God supplies; so that¬†in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ,¬†to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. — 1 Peter 4:11

Whom have I in heaven but You?

Whom have I in heaven but You?
And¬†besides (with) You, I desire nothing on earth.¬†My¬†flesh and my heart may fail,¬†But God is the¬† strength of my heart and my¬†portion forever. — Psalm 73:25-26

Have you experienced and ever been able to say that you were so close to Jesus that He truly was all you desired? You could see nothing of this world as any value compared to walking with Jesus?

Those times were the best times of my life but unfortunately my flesh is weak and fails, my heart means well but it also fails. But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
I¬†have no good besides You.‚ÄĚ — Psalm 16:2

Thank You, Lord, for Your mercy , grace and strength.

Conformity

And do not¬†be conformed to¬†this¬†world, but be transformed by the¬†renewing of your mind, so that you may¬†prove what the will of God is, that which is good and¬†acceptable and perfect. — Romans 12:2

As¬†obedient children, do not¬†be conformed to the former lusts¬†which were yours¬†in your¬†ignorance, — 1 Peter 1:14

so as to live¬†the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the¬†will of God. — 1 Peter 1:2

Conformity to the world or conformity to God?

The end of all things¬†is near; therefore,¬†be of sound judgment and sober¬†spirit¬†for the purpose of¬†prayer.¬†Above all,¬†keep fervent in your love for one another, because¬†love covers a multitude of sins.¬†Be hospitable to one another without¬†complaint.¬†As each one has received a¬†special¬†gift, employ it in serving one another as good¬†stewards of the manifold grace of God.¬†Whoever speaks,¬†is to do so¬†as one who is speaking the¬†utterances of God; whoever serves¬†is to do so¬†as one who is serving¬†by the strength which God supplies; so that¬†in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ,¬†to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. — 1 Peter 4:7-11
