The world, and those who dwell in it. 2 For He has founded it upon the seas And established it upon the rivers. 3 Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? And who may stand in His holy place? 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood And has not sworn deceitfully. 5 He shall receive a blessing from the Lord And righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6 This is the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face—even Jacob. Selah. — Psalm 24:1-6
Do we have a generation of seekers alive today? Who are those of the generation who seek Him, who seek His face?
Could it be those who dwell upon the earth knowing that the Lord is the Creator of the earth and all that it contains? Those who believe the world and they themselves belong to God? Could that person or persons have clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted their souls to falsehood nor sworn deceitfully and been blessed? Are you that person who has received righteousness from the God of your salvation and been granted entry into the Lord’s holy presence? Do you seek Him?
We need a generation that Seeks the Lord and His strength; that seeks His face continually. (Psalm 105:4) Are you a part of that generation?
Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all. Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone. Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name. — 1 Chronicles 29:11-13
And forgive us when we do not acknowledge that You are. Open our eyes to see your splendor that we may be reminded that you are worthy to be praised, thanked, exalted, and revered. Only You are head over all. All things come from You. All we need is You! Help our lips to speak Your praise, not only to others but to You, O Lord,.
Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves. Each of us is toplease his neighbor for his good, to his edification. For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me.” — Romans 15:1-3
What?! Life is not about just pleasing myself? I’m supposed to live my life to edify my neighbor for his/her good? I’m supposed to do as Christ did? There’s my answer if I am a true disciple/follower of Christ.
But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. — Ephesians 4:7
For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among younot to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. — Romans 12:3
So what are you doing with the grace and faith you have been given?
Whoever speaks, is to do soas one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. — 1 Peter 4:11
And do not be conformed to thisworld, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. — Romans 12:2
As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, — 1 Peter 1:14
so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. — 1 Peter 1:2
Conformity to the world or conformity to God?
The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer.Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.Be hospitable to one another without complaint. As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. — 1 Peter 4:7-11
Sing to the Lord, all the earth; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day. Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples. For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; He also is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before Him, Strength and joy are in His place. — 1 Chronicles 16:23-27
