Shelter

On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.
Psalms 62:7 NASB

The Lord gives grace and glory. He is our shelter where we can run and feel safe. He is our rock of strength to face the trials, hurts, stress, tribulations, sufferings of this world. On God alone our salvation and glory rest.

Where, or should I say, Who do you run to in these times?

🌹For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

Refuge, Shield and Shelter

Do homage (or lay hold of instruction) to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon (quickly, suddenly, easily) be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!
Psalms 2:12 NASB

🌹Lord, let all who take refuge in You be glad. Let them sing for joy and may You shelter them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in You. For it is You who blesses the righteous man, O Lord. You surround him with favor as with a shield. As I pray, my heart cries out on behalf of Your people of the Ukraine, Lord. Shield and shelter them that they may sing praises to Your name. Praying also for those we are not aware of who are crying out to You needing Your shield and protection. May they all know that You are the Lord their God. To Your glory in Jesus name. Amen
(Psalms 5:11‭-‬12 NASB)

Affliction

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all. Evil shall slay the wicked, And those who hate the righteous will be condemned. The Lord redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned.    Psalms 34:19‭, ‬21‭-‬22 NASB

We, as Christians, are not exempt from affliction. That is something that I think we forget. Jesus did not promise us a perfect, carefree life when He became our Savior and Lord (King, ruler over us).

These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”    John 16:33 NASB

This life is our battleground. Fighting for salvation of family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and every person we encounter in this life. We are fighting to sustain a relationship with our God. This world is not our home but the battlefield on the way.

With each affliction, we need to ask ourselves, “What can I learn through this experience? What is God teaching me through this and how can I learn from it for my growth in the Lord and the benefit of others?”

🌹 And the ultimate question to ask ourselves is “Am I taking refuge in Him”?

I recommend reading Acts 27 noticing the difference between Paul, who knows the Lord Jesus, and others on the ship. Reactions to the situations by both parties.
