Hopeful

You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.
Psalms 32:7 NASB

I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me and heard my cry. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear And will trust in the Lord.
Psalms 40:1‭, ‬3 NASB

Then all men will fear, And they will declare the work of God, And will consider what He has done.
Psalms 64:9 NASB

🌹The righteous man will be glad in the Lord and will take refuge in Him; And all the upright in heart will glory.
Psalms 64:10 NASB

Our trusting in God during the storms of life is a testimony to those who are watching. Let us persevere while waiting for the glory of hope in His provision.

Promise

And I will strengthen them in the Lord, And in His name they will walk,” declares the Lord.
Zechariah 10:12 NASB

Father, thank You for sending Jesus, Your Son. Strengthen me in the Lord Jesus and in His name I shall walk according to Your promise. Jesus, I need You. Help me to walk in a manner that gives You praise and evidence of Your glory.  Amen.

Just the Beginning

“Say to all the people of the land and to the priests, ‘When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh months these seventy years, was it actually for Me that you fasted? When you eat and drink, do you not eat for yourselves and do you not drink for yourselves?
Zechariah 7:5‭-‬6 NASB

🌹Are we about God in our Christian walk or ourselves? Salvation isn’t the end game but just the beginning.

Righteous Garment

Naked before the Lord God I stand. Hide my nakedness in Your robe of righteousness I ask. Clothe me and shine through me as Your vessel of righteousness to the world.

🌹I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, My soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
Isaiah 61:10 NASB

Saul’s Testimony

Saul giving His testimony of the occurence found in Acts 9:1-31

“But it happened that as I was on my way, approaching Damascus about noontime, a very bright light suddenly flashed from heaven all around me, and I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’ And I answered, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said to me, ‘I am Jesus the Nazarene, whom you are persecuting.’
Acts 22:6‭-‬8 NASB

The words, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ had never really struck me before until yesterday at church when the Pastor pointed out that Saul, at that moment surrendered his will. He called Jesus, Lord! He yielded to this superior voice.

But there is more, like the conviction I experienced when Saul, a persecutor of the Church, would be helped by the very people he was on a rampage to destroy. . .

But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he did to Your saints at Jerusalem; and here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name.”
Acts 9:13‭-‬14 NASB

Ananias was directed by Jesus to go to Saul and help him.

How would you have responded to Jesus telling you to go to Saul?

If you were Saul, how would you have responded to the help from the church you were out to destroy?

We can be zealous for God but let’s not turn that zelousness into persecution of others. Let us, with prayer and guidance from the Holy Spirit, help one another on the road to reconciliation.

Zealous Saul was changed. Do we believe God can change a person? Do we trust God and walk along side this person as we journey?

Some things to think about. I know I will be evaluating my walk as I ponder these thoughts.

🌹Have a blessed day in the Lord.

Bless the Lord

I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Psalms 34:1 NASB

🌹Is this true of you?

Have a blessed and wonderful weekend!

Observe, Be Astonished

Things happening in this world may bring fear, uncertainty, and seem as if it is out of control, but God.
God is always at work in His creation. God is in control.

🌹“Look among the nations! Observe! Be astonished! Wonder! Because I am doing something in your days— You would not believe if you were told.
Habakkuk 1:5 NASB

🌹Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5 NASB

The Potter-Day 3

As the Potter’s wheel spins, the Potter shapes the clay. With His hands He designs the vessel into the purpose He is designing it for.

But now, O Lord, You are our Father, We are the clay, and You our potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand.
Isaiah 64:8 NASB

In the process of transformation the walls become thin and there is space for filling. As we become less in this transformation we become just what God has designed for us to be.
He must increase, but I must decrease.
John 3:30 NASB

As Christians we are filled with the Holy Spirit. By His power we are able to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ! Let us decrease so God’s influence will increase to His glory and purpose.

🌹for he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And considerable numbers were brought to the Lord.
Acts 11:24 NASB

The Potter-Day 2

that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
Romans 10:9‭-‬10 NASB

So, have you confessed with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believed in your heart that God raised Him from the dead? Then you are saved. . . Now the transformation begins.

Remember the lump of clay from yesterday (September 18, 2023)? Well, clay is now placed on a spinning wheel and water is put onto the clay to cover it. . . Transformation can then begin.

Baptism follows confession and belief in Jesus Christ. It is the proclamation of our salvation.

Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
Romans 6:4 NASB

As the clay is covered in water, we as confessing believers are baptized in water.

🌹Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:38 NASB

Continually Seeking Him,

I hope you’ll come back tomorrow for another devotion on The Potter.

The Potter-Day 1

A lump of clay. Just a blob until it is placed in the hands of a potter.

A new born baby is similar to a lump of clay. They are helpless without the care of a parent. This helpless baby, under the care of loving parents will learn to walk, talk, dress themselves, etc.

Aren’t parents a type of potter, transforming this baby, lump of clay, into someone beautiful and special?

🌹Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6 NASB

like newborn babies, long for the (unadulterated) pure (spritual) milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in (up to salvation) respect to salvation,
1 Peter 2:2 NASB

We all were a lump of clay in the physical realm. But what about the spiritual realm?
Have you placed your life in the Potter’s hands? Are you still a lump of clay in need of salvation? Are you in the word, being transformed by the Potter into a useful vessel?

Be sure to stop by tomorrow for the transformation of clay in the Potter’s hands.

Continually Seeking Him,

Sharon
