The Writing on The Wall

but you have exalted yourself against the Lord of heaven; . . . and you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood and stone, which do not see, hear or understand. But the God in whose hand are your life-breath and all your ways, you have not glorified.
Daniel 5:23 NASB

King Belshazzar saw the writing on the wall and that night his life was taken. He had gone too far defaming the name of God.

He trusted in his own ability and ways. He was secure in his own fun and games with absolutely no regard to the things of God.

ūüĆĻIs God glorified in your life? Are you aware that He is your very life-breath and all your ways?

ūüĆĻDon’t wait until you see the writing on your wall. Turn to God (repent) and seek His forgiveness, truth and way. Let Him breathe new life into you for His glory.

Do Not Be Wise?!

Do not be wise in your own estimation. — Romans 12:16c

“Boast no more so very proudly,
Do not let arrogance come out of your mouth;
For the Lord is a God of knowledge,
And with Him actions are weighed. — 1 Samuel 2:3

Weighing our knowledge and/or wisdom with God’s knowledge and wisdom, we will lose every time. Let us “trust in the Lord with all our heart and do not lean on our own understanding”. Now that is wisdom to rely and trust in!

Walk Humbly With Your God

¬†He has¬†told you, O man, what is good;¬†And¬†what does the¬†Lord¬†require of you¬†But to¬†do justice, to¬†love¬†kindness,¬†And to walk¬†humbly with your God? — Micah 6:8

What is walking humbly? Humble can be defined as not proud or arrogant; modest or lowly of spirit. To walk with God we can’t have a haughty spirit, or be arrogant. Sometimes walking with God can make us feel like we are the only ones who do God’s bidding and that we’re the best at it. God has a way of making us feel very special but walking humbly reminds us that the work of God is done by Him, not us.

Jesus is our example of humility. Philippians 2:6-8, “Have this attitude¬†in yourselves which was also in¬†Christ Jesus,¬†who, although He¬†existed in the¬†form of God,¬†did not regard equality with God a thing to be¬†grasped,¬†but¬†emptied Himself, taking the form of a¬†bond-servant,¬†and¬†being made in the likeness of men.¬†Being found in appearance as a man,¬†He humbled Himself by becoming¬†obedient to the point of death, even¬†death¬†on a cross.” Jesus honored the Father by humbling Himself in obedience and is the perfect role model for us in how to walk humbly with our God. We are to empty ourselves, taking on the form of a bond-servant , and becoming obedient to God — to the point of death. How far are you willing to walk humbly with our God?

Our Lord gives grace to the humble and when we humble ourselves in His presence, He will exalt us. Let God do the bragging about you instead of tooting your own horn. It is so much more rewarding when He does it.

Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you. — James 4:10

But¬†He gives a greater grace. Therefore¬†it¬†says, ‚ÄúGod is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.‚ÄĚ — James 4:6

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.‚ÄĚ — Luke 14:1

A man‚Äôs¬†pride will bring him low,¬†But a¬†humble spirit will obtain honor. –Proverbs 29:23
