Just Pray

Is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises.
James 5:13 NASB

Every person who has ever lived has suffered. It could be the everyday struggle to just make ends meet or as devastating as living life without a treasured love one. Troubles looming over us at every turn.

Our suffering, troubles, anguish have a purpose. It teaches us our need for our Sovereign God. It brings Him glory as we let Him lead the way. When we pray we ask God to intervene in, be a part of, our life. In turn we bless Him when we cheerfully sing His praise.

🌹Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor Me.”
Psalms 50:15 NASB

Thank You God for hearing my prayers, seeing me through hard times, and restoring me to the joy of You, Lord. I sing praises to Your name and glory be to You, Sovereign God. Amen.

Find Life, Righteousness and Honor

God loves and blesses those who pursue righteousness:

The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, But He loves one who pursues righteousness.
Proverbs 15:9 NASB

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
Matthew 5:6 NASB

God delights in loyalty.

Finds life, righteousness and honor.
Proverbs 21:21‭ NASB

Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
John 14:6 NASB

Find righteousness. Jesus is our righteousness.

having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Glory

How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and you do not seek the glory that is from the one and only God?
John 5:44 NASB

Where does glory come from? I believe there is but one source. God Himself. Worthy of honor, praise, because no one, NO ONE can compare to the attributes of God. If there is anything of glory in us it comes from God.
Even Jesus stated “I do not receive glory from men;” “If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing; it is My Father who glorifies Me,”.

I know I struggle with this and maybe you do too. One of my love languages is adoration and I sometimes, a lot, seek the approval of men rather than the approval of God. It’s a fine line but it comes down to the fact that anything gloified in me is not me but God in me! For it is not he who commends himself that is approved, but he whom the Lord commends. So let us strive to give any glory given to us back to God from whom it originates.
John 5:41/John 8:54/John 12:43/2 Corinthians 10:18 NASB

🌹Then the glory of the Lord went up from the cherub to the threshold of the temple, and the temple was filled with the cloud and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the Lord.
Ezekiel 10:4 NASB
🌹Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
1 Timothy 1:17 NASB

Find Us Faithful

We’re pilgrims on the journey
Of the narrow road,
And those who’ve gone before us
Line the way.
Cheering on the faithful,
Encouraging the weary,
Their lives a stirring testament
To god’s sustaining grace.

O may all who come behind us
Find us faithful,
May the fire of our devotion
Light their way.
May the footprints that we leave,
Lead them to believe,
And the lives we live
Inspire them to obey.
O may all who come behind us
Find us faithful.

Surrounded by so great
A cloud of witnesses,
Let us run the race
Not only for the prize,
But as those who’ve gone before us.
Let us leave to those behind us,
The heritage of faithfulness
Passed on thru godly lives.

O may all who come behind us
Find us faithful,
May the fire of our devotion
Light their way.
May the footprints that we leave,
Lead them to believe,
And the lives we live
Inspire them to obey.
O may all who come behind us
Find us faithful.

After all our hopes and dreams
Have come and gone,
And our children sift thru all
We’ve left behind,
May the clues that they discover,
And the mem’ries they uncover,
Become the light that leads them,
To the road we each must find.

O may all who come behind us
Find us faithful,
May the fire of our devotion
Light their way.
May the footprints that we leave,
Lead them to believe,
And the lives we live
Inspire them to obey.
O may all who come behind us
Find us faithful.

Take Up Your Cross and Follow

And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.
Matthew 10:38‭-‬39 NASB

What does it mean to “take your cross and follow”?
To deny self.
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.
Matthew 16:24, Mark  8:35, Luke 9:23 NASB

To “take your cross and follow” is to deny self and take up your cross. The cross which represents death to sin and the ways of the world. It is the freedom from the bondage of that sin enabling us to faithfully follow Jesus.
Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.
Luke 14:27 NASB
So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions.
Luke 14:33 NASB
But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ.
that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
Philippians 3:7,10-11 NASB

Basically we must lose our life to find it.
He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal. If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.
John 12:25‭-‬26 NASB

🌹I am crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
Galatians 2:20

To Serve – Follow

If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him. John 12:26 NASB

The service of the Lord is not done alone. It cannot be accomplished by any one person. If you desire to serve the Lord, then you must follow Jesus. He is the One who accomplishes the Father’s will. We are blessed to be a part of that work because the Father will honor us when we follow Jesus in service.

What is the service of the Lord? To lead people to reconciliation with God. Christ came to reconcile mankind to the Father.

So follow Jesus for when we do we know the way to go:

And you know the way where I am going.”  Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.                     John 14:4‭, ‬6 NASB

🌹Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. John 17:24 NASB

Name of God

For from the rising of the sun even to its setting, My name will be great among the nations,                      Malachi 1:11a NASB

If you do not listen, and if you do not take it to heart to give honor to My name,” says the Lord of hosts, “then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings; and indeed, I have cursed them already, because you are not taking it to heart.  Malachi 2:2‭ NASB

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;                       1 Peter 2:9 NASB

“My covenant with him was one of life and peace, and I gave them to him as an object of reverence; so he revered Me and stood in awe of My name. True instruction was in his mouth and unrighteousness was not found on his lips; he walked with Me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many back from iniquity. For the lips of a priest should preserve knowledge, and men should seek instruction from his mouth; for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts. Malachi 2:2‭, ‬5‭-‬7 NASB

God takes His name seriously and your role in the priesthood of the saints. We are His possession for the proclaiming of His excellencies.

How do we do this? By speaking truth from our lips, which comes by the reading and study of God’s word and walking with Him in peace and uprightness. We are the messengers of God to turn many back from iniquity, sin.

You can’t help but stand in awe of His name when walking intimately with God. And you can’t help but speak His truth when when you do.

🌹Do you stand in awe of His name?

70 Years!?

The inhabited cities will be laid waste and the land will be a desolation. So you will know that I am the Lord.
Ezekiel 12:20

Recently I’ve heard, “I am so tired of this Covid thing” or, “I am so over this, I am ready to go back to normal”.

What is normal? Living life for me, me, me?

God has a plan. He had a plan for Israel when they went into captivity in Egypt for 70 years. He had a plan when He sent them again into captivity in Babylon under the rule of Nebuchadnezzar.

What is God’s plan? “So you will know that I am the Lord”.

Contentment can be found in nothing less than Almighty God. Contentment can be found during desolation and captivity when our hearts belong to Him. Our focus is on God.

“All the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, But He does according to His will in the host of heaven And among the inhabitants of earth; And no one can ward off His hand Or say to Him, ‘What have You done?’
Daniel 4:35‭ NASB

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are true and His ways just, and He is able to humble those who walk in pride.”
Daniel 4:37 NASB
(Nebuchadnezzar’s testimony is in Daniel 4. You might want to read it).

🌹Are you humbly focused on God and His will? If this Covid lifestyle should last 70 years you can be content in Him?

Pay Taxes

For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing. Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor. — Romans 13:6-7

Verse of the day for the United States. Thanks to BibleGateway.com for the chuckle I got from reading this this morning.

I am grateful for a God who supplies my needs no matter the need nor the absent mindedness of my husband and myself. We had changed our deductions, which was supposed to be for a short period of time, but forgot to change it back. The realization that all of 2014 deductions were way, I mean way, too low came when we did tax preparation this year.

Needless to say we had to “pay tax to whom tax is due”. My gracious, awesome God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) supplied that need. And the great thing is that we still met our monetary obligations, tithe, and we’re still eating.

Do you know God? If you do you are truly blessed. If you don’t, I suggest you seek Him through His Word, the Bible. Ask someone you know, who has this same awesome, wonderful God, to tell you about Jesus and what He has done for you. You will not regret knowing Him.

Who May?

Lord, who may abide in Your tent?
Who may dwell on Your holy hill?

He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness,

And speaks truth in his heart.

He does not slander with his tongue,

Nor does evil to his neighbor,
Nor takes up a reproach against his friend;

In whose eyes a reprobate is despised,

But who honors those who fear the Lord;
He swears to his own hurt and does not change;

He does not put out his money at interest,

Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things will never be shaken. — Psalm 15
