“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord And whose trust is the Lord. “For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8 NASB
Sometimes we have to face the heat of unexpected, unwanted circumstances. Fear can grip us, immobilize, and draw us to a dark place.
But God. . . Jesus. Light of the world who makes the darkness light. He is Almighty God. He knows us intimately. Our every hurt, fear, joys, ups, downs – our every thought, our very soul. He knows us better than we know ourselves.
That is why we can trust Him. That is why trusting Him is peace for the soul. Dig deep into the sweet water of His word, flowing with wisdom, peace, the revelation of God Himself.
As we trust God, especially in the heat, we can be fruitful. Peace beyond the world’s understanding shines the Light for others to see God as we trust in Him.
“See, I have called by name Bezalel, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah.I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship,to make artistic designs for work in gold, in silver, and in bronze, and in the cutting of stones for settings, and in the carving of wood, that he may work in all kinds of craftsmanship. And behold, I Myself have appointed with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the hearts of all who are skillful I have put skill, that they may make all that I have commanded you:the tent of meeting, and the ark of testimony, and the mercy seat upon it, and all the furniture of the tent, the table also and its utensils, and the pure gold lampstand with all its utensils, and the altar of incense, the altar of burnt offering also with all its utensils, and the laver and its stand, the woven garments as well, and the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, with which to carry on their priesthood;the anointing oil also, and the fragrant incense for the holy place, they are to make them according to all that I have commanded you.” — Exodus 31:2-11
Do you have a special skill or talent? Where do you suppose you got it from? Are you thankful to God for it? Are you using it for His purpose? For His glory?
“But where can wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding? “Man does not know its value, Nor is it found in the land of the living. “The deep says, ‘It is not in me’; And the sea says, ‘It is not with me.’ “Pure gold cannot be given in exchange for it, Nor can silver be weighed as its price. “It cannot be valued in the gold of Ophir, In precious onyx, or sapphire. “Gold or glass cannot equal it, Nor can it be exchanged for articles of fine gold. “Coral and crystal are not to be mentioned; And the acquisition of wisdom is above that of pearls. “The topaz of Ethiopia cannot equal it, Nor can it be valued in pure gold. “Where then does wisdom come from? And where is the place of understanding? “Thus it is hidden from the eyes of all living And concealed from the birds of the sky. “Abaddon and Death say, ‘With our ears we have heard a report of it.’
“God understands its way, And He knows its place. “For He looks to the ends of the earth And sees everything under the heavens. “When He imparted weight to the wind And meted out the waters by measure, When He set a limit for the rain And a course for the thunderbolt, Then He saw it and declared it; He established it and also searched it out. “And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to depart from evil is understanding.’” — Job 28:12-28
Do not be wise in your own estimation. — Romans 12:16c
“Boast no more so very proudly, Do not let arrogance come out of your mouth; For the Lord is a God of knowledge, And with Him actions are weighed. — 1 Samuel 2:3
Weighing our knowledge and/or wisdom with God’s knowledge and wisdom, we will lose every time. Let us “trust in the Lord with all our heart and do not lean on our own understanding”. Now that is wisdom to rely and trust in!
And Stephen, full of grace and power, was performing great wonders and signs among the people. But some men from what was called the Synagogue of the Freedmen, including both Cyrenians and Alexandrians, and some from Cilicia and Asia, rose up and argued with Stephen. But they were unable to cope with the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking. Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God.”And they stirred up the people, the elders and the scribes, and they came up to him and dragged him away and brought him before the Council. They put forward false witnesses who said, “This man incessantly speaks against this holy place and the Law;for we have heard him say that this Nazarene, Jesus, will destroy this place and alter the customs which Moses handed down to us.”And fixing their gaze on him, all who were sitting in the Council saw his face like the face of an angel. — Acts 6:8-15
Grace, power, wisdom through the Holy Spirit and seen by others. Is Jesus visible in you?
For our heart rejoices in Him, Because we trust in His holy name. — Psalm 33:21
Having trouble rejoicing in the Lord? Could it be a lack of trust in Him? Or maybe it’s because we just don’t take everything to Him and then trust that He loves and cares for us to help us with everything we take to Him.
What is it that is frustrating you right now? What is it that is stressing you out right now? What is it that is consuming all your thoughts, movements, emotions, time?
Go to the Lord, seek His face. Tell Him everything. Then . . . Let it go. Trust Him to see you through — giving the strength, direction, wisdom, whatever it takes to be victorious for His glory!
So let your heart rejoice in Him because you trust in His holy name.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!” — Isaiah 6:8
Are you prepared to go? If not, why not?
Then He *said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. — Matthew 9:37
There will come a time when the harvest will be over.“Harvest is past, summer is ended, And we are not saved.” — Jeremiah 8:20
The world needs salvation.
How can you prepare to go? Open the Bible. Read. Pray for understanding and wisdom. Pray for a heart that sees the lost. Pray for a mouth that speaks truth. Pray for a willing heart.
What you put in your mind and heart from Bible study and prayer will come out for the betterment of mankind and the glory of God. Fill your mind and heart with the love of God. Walk with Jesus and let Him transform you into a willing soul ready to go.
