Eternity: Devastation or Bliss?

Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries which are coming upon you. . . . .

Behold, the pay of the laborers who mowed your fields, and which has been withheld by you, cries out against you; and the outcry of those who did the harvesting has reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth (Hosts).
You have lived luxuriously on the earth and led a life of wanton pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter. You have condemned and put to death the righteous man; he does not resist you.
James 5:1, 4-6 NASB1995

The world is full of self-seekers; seeking their own pleasures and desires. People who want and will not let anyone stand in their way until they get it. Seeking the wealth and pleasures of this world. But in the end the consequences are eternal devastation.
The Christian life is not a life without struggles, challenges, nor ridicule – disdain, mockery, scorn, sarcasm, taunting – from the world we live in. But we have a God we can run to who understands. Who gives strength for the day, peace in the turmoil, contentment, joy, His eternal love and protection and eternal bliss.

My Heart’s Desire

And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. — Philippians 4:10
Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He will do it. — Psalm 37:4-5
Behold, to the Lord your God belong heaven and the highest heavens, the earth and all that is in it. — Deuteronomy 10:14

To God be the glory!

God is our Supplier. He supplies all our needs according to His riches — He owns cattle on a thousand hills — to Him belong heaven and earth and all that is in it. Is there anything you need that He cannot supply? The Bible says “no”.

Sometimes though, we want. Does God give us our wants? Sometimes . . .

My husband and I are on a fixed income due to my not working so I can care for my Mom. My daughter is getting married and the plan was for a very simple wedding. Bride, groom, and two witnesses with my husband doing the ceremony. Well, my Mom and I are here now to celebrate this covenant marriage which means more family members wanting to be present and as word gets out more and more want to be a part.

Back to finances. I desire to make my daughter’s special day a precious memory and so to prayer I went.

Bottom line — God has supplied what is needed to make it a special event financially. I did a little investigating as to how much supplies would be and the store I went to has all wedding paraphernalia at 50% off. Is my God amazing or what?!!!!  I delight myself in the Lord and He gives me the desires of  my heart. Be clear that the desire of our heart is really the desire of God’s heart made manifest through us. Just as we give special treats to those we love, God sometimes gives us special treats too.

I commit my way to You my Lord and trust in You. Thank You for fulfilling this desire of my heart. To You Lord God be the glory!

Fear of the Lord

O fear the Lord, you His saints; For to those who fear Him there is no want. The young lions do lack and suffer hunger; But they who seek the Lord shall not be in want of any good thing. Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. — Psalm 34:9-11

O fear the Lord – “worship Him and make conscience of your duty to Him in everything, not fear and shun Him but fear and seek Him”.* Fear the Lord, you His saints – people of God^; believers^; godly ones«.

We, His children, in seeking our Lord find all we want. He fulfills every desire we have in Him. Not the desires of our sinful flesh but the desires that come from our personal walk with Jesus. We are satisfied because our hearts seek the heart of God, truly being what we want.

The Word promises that those who seek the Lord will not be in want of any good thing. He does not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly. How do we walk uprightly? By fearfully seeking Him and keeping His commandments. Remember that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

The Lord gives grace and glory and His praise endures forever.
