Unwavering Belief

yet, with respect to the promise of God, he (Abraham) did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God,
Romans 4:20 NASB

Abraham contemplating his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and considering the deadness of Sarah’s womb; did not — listen — did NOT waver in unbelief when it came to God’s promise to build a nation of descendants from him and Sarah.
(Romans 4:19)
That is faith. God keeps His promises. Every One of Them!! God can do the impossible.

It is not up to us to fulfill His purpose in us, for we are feeble, wretched, sinful, weak people. But . . . God. He will work in and use those who believe, those who surrender their will to His will. Those who trust in His Word.

So, let us not waver in unbelief, but grow in faith, giving glory to God as He works in and through us. His will be done.

And Jesus said to him, “ ‘If You can?’ All things are possible to him who believes.”
Mark 9:23 NASB

“I know that You can do all things, And that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.
Job 42:2 NASB

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13 NASB

1 John 5:20-21

And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. Little children, guard yourselves from idols.
1 John 5:20‭-‬21 NASB

And we know:
that the Son of God has come
he has given us understanding to know Him
that He is true
that we are in Him, the Son of God, Jesus Christ
that He hears us in whatever we ask,
that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.
that no one who is born of God sins;
that we are of God.
1 John 5:15‭, ‬18‭-‬19

God of truth and eternal life, You are the only true God. This is eternal life, that we may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. Jesus, who came from the Father, Son of God, we know because You, Lord God, have given understanding to those who believe that Jesus is true and we are in Him.
I pray asking forgiveness Lord of any idolatrous way in me. Help me to recognize and flee from the idolatry of this world that can so easily entangle. I choose to turn from idols to a living true God.
Lord I also pray You would open my mind to understand the Scriptures. I long to know You more, understand Your way, to follow in obedience to Your word. I am honored and privileged to be Your child. Thank You, Father, for my Advocate, Jesus Christ the righteous.
Praise, Honor, Glory to the living true God, amen.
John 17:3/John 8:42/1 Corinthians 10:14/1 Corinthians 10:7/1 Thessalonians 1:9/ Luke 24:45/1 John 2:1 NASB

A Tidbit:
After the resurrection of Jesus the disciples met up with a man on the beach. . .

So Jesus *said to them, “Children, you do not have any fish, do you?” They answered Him, “No.”
John 21:5 NASB
Jesus *said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples ventured to question Him, “Who are You?” knowing that it was the Lord.
John 21:12 NASB

Will you recognize Him when He returns?

Promise: You Are Mine

But now, thus says the Lord, your Creator, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! — Isaiah 43:1

The Lord, our Creator who formed us says, “you are Mine”! As I read this verse I thought of my daughter who is about to deliver my first grandchild. When our granddaughter arrives my daughter will call her by name. This is a name that her and her husband picked out especially for her. Every time they call her name it acknowledges that they know her and she belongs to them.

My kids will protect her and when she fears I can imagine them saying, “Do not fear”. They would give their lives to redeem her. But as much as they would want to they will never be able to redeem her from her sins. Only Jesus can do that. Even though they will love their daughter with all they are, they will never be able to love her as God loves her.

No greater redemption or love will be yours except through Jesus Christ. So when you read the promise “you are Mine”, know it holds so many more promises for you. Every promise is yours that is written in the Word of God because “you are Mine”!!!!

Seek, Wait, Hope

“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I have hope in Him.” The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the person who seeks Him. — Lamentations 3:24-25

“The Lord is my portion.” He is my inheritance. He is all I need. He is everything I could ever want or need in this life and especially in the next. For without Him I would never experience eternal life with Him. Because He is all I will ever need I hope in Him. My soul is confident to say, “I have hope in Him”.

God’s eye is on those who hope for His lovingkindness, on those who fear Him. (Ps. 33:18) To have God’s eye on you holds so many promises and peace. To revere His holiness and purity. To revel in His love and blessings. To have peace in His protection and care. Those are for those who hope in Him.

God is good to those who wait on Him. As in yesterday’s devotion, we hear from Him when we take the time to wait on the Lord. He is good to us when we wait on Him. He wants to give us blessings, guide us in our day, help us on our journey of life to fulfill His purpose for us. All those are good things. He is good to those who wait for Him. Wait for His triumphant return. Hope.

While we wait we can seek His face. Longing for the Lord my soul diligently seeks Him. This too is good. Seek the Lord and His strength, seek His face continually (Ps. 105:4). Wait on Him. Hope in Him.

At night my soul longs for You, Indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently; For when the earth experiences Your judgments The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. Isaiah 26:9

Live Holy

For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said:

“I will live with them
and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they will be my people.”

Therefore,

“Come out from them
and be separate,
says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
and I will receive you.”

And,

“I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty.”
2 Corinthians 6:16b-18 (NIV)

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. — 2 Corinthians 7:1 (NIV)

For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. – 1 Thessalonians 4:7 (NIV)
But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; — 1 Peter 1:15 (NIV)
for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” — 1 Peter 1:16 (NIV)

Why should we be holy? If for no other reason it should be out of reverence for God. He is worthy. He deserves it. Seek to please the Lord in all you do by being holy and pure. Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him. — 2 Corinthians 5:9

Keep practicing until you are more and more like Jesus. Keep seeking.

The Promise of His Promises

For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. — 2 Peter 1:4

God’s promises come with a promise. God is so awesome! By His precious and magnificent promises we may become partakers of the divine nature. The likeness of God created in righteousness and holiness of the truth is in the new self we put on with the trusting acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Savior in our lives. We share His holiness. Isn’t that reason enough to trust in His promises? We are blessed beyond comprehension by the mercy and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. It’s time to trust in those promises of God. His promises.

Let our trusting faith in His promises help us to grow in our faith until the day He calls us home. Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. — 1 John 3:2

What a glorious day that will be. In the meantime seek the Lord and His strength while He can be found.

Continually seeking Him,

and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. — Ephesians 4:24

For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness. — Hebrews 12:10

Promises

Remember His promises
Whenever you’re distressed
Remember His promises
They will bring you rest

His promises are found
In His precious Word
His guidance abounds
To lead us where we should

So seek Him always
Hiding in your heart
The promises of Jesus
From them never part

Fear of the Lord

O fear the Lord, you His saints; For to those who fear Him there is no want. The young lions do lack and suffer hunger; But they who seek the Lord shall not be in want of any good thing. Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. — Psalm 34:9-11

O fear the Lord – “worship Him and make conscience of your duty to Him in everything, not fear and shun Him but fear and seek Him”.* Fear the Lord, you His saints – people of God^; believers^; godly ones«.

We, His children, in seeking our Lord find all we want. He fulfills every desire we have in Him. Not the desires of our sinful flesh but the desires that come from our personal walk with Jesus. We are satisfied because our hearts seek the heart of God, truly being what we want.

The Word promises that those who seek the Lord will not be in want of any good thing. He does not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly. How do we walk uprightly? By fearfully seeking Him and keeping His commandments. Remember that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

The Lord gives grace and glory and His praise endures forever.

Continually seeking Him,

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly. –Psalm 84:1
