Peacemaker Pt. 2

He (Jesus) opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
Matthew 5:1, 9 NASB1995‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/mat.5.1-9.NASB1995

Yesterday’s devotion was regarding abiding in Christ, the Holy Spirit living in us. By faith a person is saved, justified, and thereby we have peace with God.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,
John 1:12 NASB1995‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/jhn.1.12.NASB1995

for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’
Acts 17:28 NASB1995‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/act.17.28.NASB1995

A child of God is a peacemaker.

So, what is the responsibility of a peacemaker?

To shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace.”
Luke 1:79 NASB1995‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/luk.1.79.NASB1995

So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”
John 20:21 NASB1995‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/jhn.20.21.NASB1995

The peacemaker spreads the “Gospel of Peace”.

For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall,
Ephesians 2:14 NASB1995‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/eph.2.14.NASB1995

by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity. And He came and preached peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were near; for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household,
Ephesians 2:15-19 NASB1995‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/eph.2.15-19.NASB1995

So children of God, let us put on gospel shoes and spread the gospel of peace.

and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Ephesians 6:15 NASB1995‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/eph.6.15.NASB1995

🌹But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Bearing Fruit

Seeing a lone fig tree by the road, He (Jesus) came to it and found nothing on it except leaves only; and He *said to it, “No longer shall there ever be any fruit from you.” And at once the fig tree withered.
Matthew 21:19 NASB1995‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/mat.21.19.NASB1995

And He (Jesus) began telling this parable: “A man had a fig tree which had been planted in his vineyard; and he came looking for fruit on it and did not find any.
And he said to the vineyard-keeper, ‘Behold, for three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree without finding any. Cut it down! Why does it even use up the ground?’
And he answered and said to him, ‘Let it alone, sir, for this year too, until I dig around it and put in fertilizer;
and if it bears fruit next year, fine; but if not, cut it down.’ ”
Luke 13:6-9 NASB1995‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/luk.13.6-9.NASB1995

Will Jesus find you bearing fruit where He has planted you when He returns? Are you fertilizing your mind, heart and soul with the Word of God? Are you planting fruit, fertilizing the ground of others around you, helping them to bear fruit?

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23 NASB1995‬

Are you living for Jesus to the glory of God?

*Recommended reading: John 15:1-11
‭verses 4-6 are written here:

🌹Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.
I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.
If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.

The Planted Seed

Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. John‬ ‭12:24‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/jhn.12.24.NASB1995‭‭

Just as the grain of wheat must die to bear more fruit, so we as believers must die to bear eternal fruit. Die to MY way, MY will, MY life.

Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Galatians‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/gal.5.24.NASB1995

The Christian has been crucified with Christ and now lives in Christ. It is HIS way, HIS will, HIS life, His passion.

He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal. John‬ ‭12:25‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

Prayer and the Word of God are essential to a life in Christ!!
‭‭
And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.”

The Seed is The Word

Recommended reading: Luke 8:11-21

Disconnecting Day 2b

The same Sunday. Now it is church service.

Music that morning:
*The Potter’s Hand: Beautiful Lord, Wonderful Savior, I know for sure all of my days are held in Your hands, crafted into Your perfect plan.
*I Need Thee Every Hour
*Without Him
     – I could do nothing
     – I’d surely fail
     – I would be drifting
     – How lost I would be
     – I’d be dying
     – I’d be enslaved
     – life would be hopeless
But with Him I am SAVED!!!
Created by Him, for Him. I need Him and without Him I am NOTHING!!!

Sermon was from John 15:1-5. One of my favorite passages.

As the branch receives all it needs from the vine, we find all sufficient grace in Christ. All we need!
– God is an expert at producing fruit – it is His plan
– God is I AM (Exodus 3:14)
I AM
     – Bread of life (John 6:35)
     – Light of the world (John 8:12)
     – the door (John 10:9)
     – the Good Shepherd (John 10:11)
     – the Resurrection & Life (John 11:25)
     – the way, truth and life (John 14:6)
     – the True Vine, Father the Vinedresser (John 15:1)

When “we do”, we miss putting Jesus in the center of all we do, leaving Him out.
Jesus is the source of the branch’s (our) power! As a Christian, EVERYTHING has to be done for the glory of God! We can do nothing without Him.

🌹Take time to be still. Be there. ABIDE. And remember that we are the branch – every breath, every step is from God.

Pray: Lord, be fruitful in whatever You have for me today.

Continually Seeking Him,

Sharon

The Rock

The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree, He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

Planted in the house of the Lord, They will flourish in the courts of our God.

They will still yield fruit in old age; They shall be full of sap and very green,

To declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
Psalms 92:12‭-‬15 NASB

The righteous man, planted in the house of the Lord, will bear fruit, even in old age, and proclaim that the Lord is upright and righteous.

🌹 Is He your rock in whom there is no unrighteousness?

Fruitful or Dried Up

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.            John 15:1‭-‬2 NASB

Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. John 15:4‭-‬5 NASB

If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.            John 15:6 NASB

My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. John 15:8 NASB

🌹 Are you abiding in Christ, the vine, being nourished by the vinedresser, the Father’s word, being transformed by His pruning, producing fruit in the power of the Holy Spirit

OR

Are you a dried up branch, void of the movement of God because you do not abide in Jesus, the vine, only to be gathered and used for the fire?

These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.           John 15:11 NASB

Fruit of Repentance

Therefore bear fruit in keeping with repentance – Matthew 3:8

So what does it mean to “bear fruit”?

for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), – Ephesians 5:8-9

Is your “Christian” walk consistent with goodness, righteousness and truth? If this fruit is not evident in your life then now is the time to evaluate your walk and kneel before God in true repentance.

Salvation, Then What?

So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Acts 2:41-42

Hallelujah for every soul who is saved. That is reason for celebration! But is there more to this salvation thing? For many years it seems salvation was the focus — get people saved. Many who made decisions to accept Jesus as Savior, repenting of sin, were left there.

There is more to salvation. So much more — wonderful, fulfilling, exciting, challenging, adventurous, faith growing, surrender, dependence — a relationship with the Savior. This takes continual devotion to the teachings of Christ. Being mentored by a mature Christian. Fellowship of the saints is necessary because iron sharpens iron, gleaning fruit from the mature tree, receiving encouragement in the faith and learning from others.

Gathering of the saints to break bread together and pray is a time of drawing closer to God, one another and learning how to do that.

This devotion is for the new babe in Christ to encourage them to be in the Word — joining a Bible Study group — to gather with the saints and learn — gather fruit — from them. Learn to pray by watching and learning from godly people. Step out in faith so your faith will grow.

This devotion is also for the seasoned person in Christ to encourage you to take someone under your wing by inviting them to join you in Bible Study, pray with them, and allow them to gather the fruit of your walk with Jesus.

We must not settle for just salvation when there is so much more!

Continually seeking Him,

Sharon

Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17
Already he who reaps is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for life eternal; so that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. John 4:36
