Joined To Jesus!

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
Romans 8:2 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/rom.8.2.NASB1995

Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.
For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were aroused by the Law, were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death.
But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter.

Walk In The Spirit – Peace (Pt. 1 of 3)

¹For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; . . . And His name will be called . . . Prince of Peace. ²This One will be our peace . . .³The LORD is Peace (Yahweh-shalom). ā“ā€œDominion and awe belong to Him Who establishes peace in His heights.
¹Isaiah 9:6/²Micah 5:5/³Judges 6:24/⁓Job 25:2 NASB1995

šŸ™āµIn peace I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, O Lord, make me to dwell in safety. ⁶Those who love Your law have great peace, And nothing causes them to stumble.
⁵Psalms 4:8/⁶Psalms 119:165 NASB1995

⁷I will hear what God the Lord will say; For He will speak peace to His people, to His godly ones; But let them not turn back to folly. āøā€˜For there will be peace for the seed: the vine will yield its fruit, the land will yield its produce and the heavens will give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things.
⁷Psalms 85:8/⁸Zechariah 8:12 NASB1995

🌹The Lord lift up His countenance on you, And give you peace.’

Only One Lawgiver and Judge

Do not speak against one another, brethren. He who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it.
There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you who judge your neighbor?
James 4:11-12 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/jas.4.11-12.NASB1995

How easily it comes to us to point the finger, speak against, and judge a person for their words and/or actions without knowing the why of it. We all have been on both sides in this. We say or do something we regret and have been judged for it.

ā€œDo not judge so that you will not be judged.
Matthew 7:1 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/mat.7.1.NASB1995

Do not complain, brethren, against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing right at the door.
James 5:9 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/jas.5.9.NASB1995

For the Lord is our judge, The Lord is our lawgiver, The Lord is our king; He will save us—
Isaiah 33:22 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/isa.33.22.NASB1995

But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.
James 1:22 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/jas.1.22.NASB1995

If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, ā€œYou shall love your neighbor as yourself,ā€ you are doing well.
James 2:8 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/jas.2.8.NASB1995

🌹If God is our Judge and the Judge of all His Creation, who are we to judge anyone? Especially a brother or sister. We are to love one another in obedience to the royal law.

Gloomy

Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom.
James 4:9 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/jas.4.9.NASB1995

. . . For all the people were weeping when they heard the words of the law.
Nehemiah 8:9b NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/neh.8.9.NASB1995

The words of the law draws one to be convicted. When conviction causes us to mourn and weep in our souls, making us miserable, it is time to humble ourselves before God, seeking His forgiveness.

So that He sets on high those who are lowly, And those who mourn are lifted to safety.
Job 5:11 NASB1995

🌹Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.

Showing Mercy

If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, ā€œYou shall love your neighbor as yourself,ā€ you are doing well.
But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.
For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all. For He who said, ā€œDo not commit adultery,ā€ also said, ā€œDo not commit murder.ā€ Now if you do not commit adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.
James 2:8-11 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/jas.2.8-11.NASB1995

No matter the sin, big or small, sin is a transgression of the Lord’s law.

If we do not love our neighbor – anyone who is not us – we sin.

If we show favoritism to some; looking down on others, we sin.

Abiding by all the laws yet neglecting one, we are transgressors, sinners, of the entire law.

for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
1 Peter 2:10 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/1pe.2.10.NASB1995

🌹So speak and so act as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty. For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.

Doers of The Word

But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.
James 1:22 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/jas.1.22.NASB1995

Jesus speaking:
ā€œWhy do you call Me, ā€˜Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.ā€
Luke 6:46-49 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/luk.6.46-49.NASB1995

This life we live is not easy. It is far from perfect. But God. His Word is truth to live by. His word of truth protects, guides, strengthens, encourages, and opens our eyes to Him. Our Protector, Provider, Guide, Friend, Support, Love, and the list goes on . . . gave us His word to know Him and live out His Word in our lives. As in any relationship, time spent getting to know one another is essential. Without God’s word in our heart, on our mind, and living out the word of God we will not be justified.

🌹 for it is not the hearers of the Law who are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified.

Law Abiding Love

Good Samaritan

Recommended reading: Luke 10:29-37

This story of the good Samaritan points out who is our neighbor.

Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers’ hands?ā€ And he said, ā€œThe one who showed mercy toward him.ā€ Then Jesus said to him, ā€œGo and do the same.ā€

Enduring Truth

The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether.
They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.
Moreover, by them Your servant is warned; In keeping them there is great reward.
Psalms 19:9-11 NASB1995
