To Whom Do I Turn?

Living life is not always easy. Like when the bottom falls out of your perfectly planned day. The times when your kids are too quiet and you find they have totally redecorated your sofa with markers and glued on flowers. Or maybe the stress of having enough income to cover this month’s bills. The news that there is a layoff coming to your workplace. Where do you go? What do you do?

In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried to my God for help; He heard my voice out of His temple, And my cry for help before Him came into His ears.

Faith in Action

If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?
James 2:15-16 NASB1995

I just have to say, “I know and serve an amazing God.”

My husband and I went out to breakfast and as we were leaving we noticed an older woman of seventy sitting in the foyer. She was drinking a cup of water, graciously given by the management of the restaurant, after having walked in the heat. This woman was headed to an ATM.

Here’s where God steps in…

We were asked if we knew where an ATM was in the area. With this one question the door of opportunity to practice our faith opened the door to put our faith into action. We took this woman, in an air-conditioned vehicle, to an ATM and then delivered her safely home. We talked of Jesus and we will be praying for her. What a wonderful blessing it was to practice our faith with action; to be a part of God’s plan.

🌹Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.

Destruction or Help

It is your destruction, O Israel,
That you are against Me, against your help. –Hosea 13:9

Most people will agree that “Life is hard”. Some see more hardships than others. Some blame God thinking they deserve blessing but only see hardship. Sin has brought the hardships. I believe some hardships come to get our attention, some bring the growth of perseverance and trust in the Lord, and some is for discipline, consequences for our actions.

Some stay away, run from, deny Christ because “He hasn’t blessed me, given me anything”. Denial of God is definitely denying our help in life. God’s help.

Evaluation time. . . Are hardships you are experiencing now –God trying to get your attention, trials that are growing you or are you denying God?

God is our help in times of trouble. Are you seeking Him?

Continually seeking Him,

Sharon
