A Father of a demon possessed child approaches Jesus and says, “But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us!:
And Jesus said to him, “ ‘If You can?’ All things are possible to him who believes.” Mark 9:23 NASB
And He said to them, “This kind cannot come out by anything but prayer.” Mark 9:29 NASB
. . . “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. Matthew 17:20 NASB
Do I believe God can. . . . . .? When I pray, do I believe in the power of God to save? To save my loved ones? Do I pray consistently for their salvation, believing that the Almighty saving God can save them? Do I tend to look to myself wondering, “Am I doing enough – sharing, living, pouring out Jesus before them?” This is where I need to refocus. It is not I who saves, but God who does. God can and will use me but their salvation does not depend on me. I choose to pray in the power of the living God, walk in His saving power, and believe He has the power to save!! In that is freedom!
🌹It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1 NASB
For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; 2 Corinthians 4:6-7 NASB
God is the One who shines the light of salvation in us and through us. It is by His power we are saved unto eternal life and it is by His power we are to share the Light, Jesus Christ, the very knowledge of God’s glory!
We are not able to proclaim the gospel without the gospel, Jesus Christ, in us. What a humbling treasure of God to choose to use us for His purpose of salvation to His glory, by His power.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. — Romans 1:16
Is God trying to alert us? I received a devotional this morning from a blog I follow and this is the verse referenced. I open “biblegateway.com” this morning and what is the verse of the day? You’re right, Romans 1:16. If I’m not mistaken I think I saw it on Facebook yesterday.
There are a lot of changes going on in the United States, and worldwide, that is challenging those who believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, who died for the sin of all mankind, and was raised on the third day, as stated in the Holy Scriptures. That is the gospel in a nutshell.
Do you believe? Are you ashamed? I believe a time of great testing is coming. Are you ready?
“Be on guard, so that your hearts will not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day will not come on you suddenly like a trap;for it will come upon all those who dwell on the face of all the earth. But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” — Luke 21:34-36
