Prayer Invitation

Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:16 NASB

We Christians have been invited to the throne of grace. Into the holy of holies. WOW!

Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Hebrews 10:19‭-‬22 NASB

We have a direct line to the ear of God. We are invited into His presence. The door of welcome is always open. Prayer is essential to growing a relationship with God. Jesus, our example, whom we are to follow, did not neglect time with His Father.

Can we grow in faith and trust in Jesus without prayer?

🌹But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.
Jude 1:20-21 NASB

Pray to Know and Live Jesus

Pray desiring to know and live for the Lord Jesus Christ.

Father, You have made known to us the mystery of Your will, according to Your kind intention which You purposed in Him, our Lord Jesus Christ. Father of glory, give to us a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Jesus. I pray that the eyes of our hearts may be enlightened, so that we will know what is the hope of Your calling, what are the riches of the glory of Your inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of Your power toward us who believe.
Ephesians 1:9‭a, ‬17‭-‬19a NASB

🌹I pray the desire of my heart will always be to know Jesus and to live for Him. Amen.

In the Presence of God

The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous And His ears are open to their cry.
Psalms 34:15 NASB

God is available. God is just a prayer away. And yet. . .
It brings me to tears when I think what little time is spent in the presence of Almighty God. I’m as guilty as anyone.

Prayer is drawing close to God, experiencing His presence. Prayer is where we pour out our life to be filled with His life. Prayer is connecting with our Lord and with one another when we gather in corporate prayer. It is where we find the heart of God.

O send out Your light and Your truth, let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill And to Your dwelling places.
Psalms 43:3 NASB

You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.
Psalms 16:11 NASB

For the eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, And His ears attend to their prayer, But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
1 Peter 3:12 NASB

Surely the righteous will give thanks to Your name; The upright will dwell in Your presence.
Psalms 140:13 NASB

🌹For You make him most blessed forever; You make him joyful with gladness in Your presence.
Psalms 21:6 NASB

Will of God

So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Ephesians 5:17 NASB

For this is the will of God, your sanctification;
1 Thessalonians 4:3a NASB

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:2 NASB

🌹God, I pray for every person reading this devotion, that they may be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that they will walk in a manner worthy of You, Lord. I  pray their desire will be to please You in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of You, God. In Your holy name I pray, amen.
Colossians 1:9‭-‬10 NASB

What a Way to Start a Day

In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch.
Psalms 5:3 NASB

What a great way to start a day! Pray with anticipation of what God will fill and bless your day with.

And then . . .

I wait for the Lord, my soul does wait, And in His word do I hope.
Psalms 130:5 NASB

🌹 Have a blessed day in the Lord filled with hope and anticipation.

Prayer Friends

for I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
Philippians 1:19 NASB

What a blessing to have others pray for you. The power of prayer to move the very Spirit of God that resides in you to meet your need or desire; and the provision to accomplish God’s plan in and through you.

I know that I am blessed to have others who pray for me regularly and grateful they make themselves available for specific requests.

🌹For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
Colossians 1:9‭-‬10 NASB

Paying Attention?

The Lord spoke to Manasseh and his people, but they paid no attention. Therefore the Lord brought the commanders of the army of the king of Assyria against them, and they captured Manasseh with hooks, bound him with bronze chains and took him to Babylon. When he was in distress, he entreated the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. When he prayed to Him, He was moved by his entreaty and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem to his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord was God.
2 Chronicles 33:10‭-‬13 NASB

I once was told that history repeats itself. I believe it does. The part I truly hope will repeat itself in this day and age is the earnest, humble praying of the church that will move the heart of God to show mercy to our city, our nation, our world. Pray asking that our city, nation and world will know that the Lord is God!!!

Lord, I Need You

I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear And will trust in the Lord.
Psalms 40:1‭-‬3 NASB

Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord.
Psalms 27:14 NASB

🌹Waiting is hard but so worth the end result. God is worth waiting for. Seek Him in prayer; reading and meditating on His word while trusting that He will answer at the perfect hour.

Sacrifice

Then the man Elkanah went up with all his household to offer to the Lord the yearly sacrifice and pay his vow.
But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, “I will not go up until the child is weaned; then I will bring him, that he may appear before the Lord and stay there forever.” Elkanah her husband said to her, “Do what seems best to you. Remain until you have weaned him; only may the Lord confirm His word.” So the woman remained and nursed her son until she weaned him. Now when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with a three-year-old bull and one ephah of flour and a jug of wine, and brought him to the house of the Lord in Shiloh, although the child was young. Then they slaughtered the bull, and brought the boy to Eli. She said, “Oh, my Lord! As your soul lives, my Lord, I am the woman who stood here beside you, praying to the Lord. For this boy I prayed, and the Lord has given me my petition which I asked of Him. So I have also dedicated him to the Lord; as long as he lives he is dedicated to the Lord.” And he worshiped the Lord there.
1 Samuel 1:21-‬28 NASB

God gave Hannah her greatest desired treasure. Hannah also returned that desired treasure, her greatest blessing back to God. Will be done

I admire Elkanah’s words to Hannah; “Do what seems best to you. Remain until you have weaned him; only may the Lord confirm His word.” Elkanah respected Hannah’s choice, that she had sought the Lord in her decision. He also gave her good advice: affirm that this decision is from God and ask God to help you to do His will.

🌹God is a giver of blessings. What blessing are you willing to give God? Your life for His service and purpose?

To Whom Do You Turn?

She (Hannah), greatly distressed, prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly.
1 Samuel 1:10‭ NASB

Hannah knew where to go. When you are
afflicted, agitated, anxious, anguished, distraught, or troubled, where do you go? When experiencing anxiety, the blues, desolation, discomfort, disappointment, grief, suffering or tribulation, where do you turn?

As for Hannah, she was speaking in her heart, only her lips were moving, but her voice was not heard. . .
1 Samuel 1:13‭ NASB
She told the priest, Eli, “No, my Lord, I am a woman oppressed in spirit; . . .I have poured out my soul before the Lord.
1 Samuel 1:15‭ NASB

To the Lord, is where Hannah went and she poured out her soul before the Lord.
Why do we not pour out our souls to the Lord in whom we can trust to hear, understand, console and direct our steps? The result of prayer is evident when you arise from the pouring out of your soul. . .
So the woman (Hannah) went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad.
1 Samuel 1:18b NASB

🌹Let’s pour out our souls more often before the Lord so we can shine bright for Jesus instead of being a “Gloomy Gus”.
