Whoa. . . I have been pondering this verse for awhile, asking myself, “Is Jesus my only desire? Is He enough? Sufficient? All I need? All I want?”
Can I truthfully say, like Paul, “that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ,”?
And then to absorb His selfless act of ridicule, abuse and death. “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.” That is what Jesus did for you and me! “Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.” Shouldn’t we also be willing to sacrifice our desires and surrender our will for such a great act of love that Jesus did for us? . . Opening the door to the abundant love God has for us. “God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him” (her).

Desire
Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart. — Psalm 37:4
Many will read this verse and right away think that they will receive whatever that desire of the moment is. What you need to know is when you delight yourself in the Lord a transformation takes place. You will still receive the desires of your heart but you will find that your desires have changed.
One of my favorite verses. I have tasted and it is good.

The Lord Is

Heart’s Desire
Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation. — Romans 10:1
What are the desires of your heart? Are they eternal desires? Are there people in your life that have no eternal hope?
Pray for them and ask God to give you an opportunity to share the gospel. Be ready and watch for God to open the door, the Holy Spirit to move and Jesus to be proclaimed from your very lips.
preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. — 2 Timothy 4:2
sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; — 1 Peter 3:15

Are You Trusting? Then You Are Obeying.
Lord, we show our trust in You by obeying Your laws; our heart’s desire is to glorify Your name. — Isaiah 26:8 (NLT)
Lord, I want to obey Your laws so You can see how much I trust You! In obedience to Your Word, I glorify Your name as others see the work You do in me. Help me to pay attention to You, give ear to Your Word, and obey Your law so that I may see the light You have set before me.
O Lord, You are my God and I will exalt You! I give thanks to Your name for You have worked wonders from day 1 of creation with perfect faithfulness. My heart rejoices when I think how You love me. You gave me laws to protect me, Your Word to guide me, Jesus to save me, the Holy Spirit to teach me and life to glorify You. I hope to be a testimony to You by my obedience and trust in You. To You, Lord God, be the glory forever and ever through Your Son, Jesus Christ.
