Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that there is no such thing as an idol in the world, and that there is no God but one.
1 Corinthians 8:4‭ NASB

So for the one who knows there is no such thing as idols or gods, that they have no real existence, it is not a big deal to eat the food sacrificed to idols. But what about the brother or sister who has not yet come to terms with eating food sacrificed to idols or hasn’t surrendered their heart completely to the one true God?

It is good not to eat meat or to drink wine, or to do anything by which your brother stumbles.
Romans 14:21 NASB

But take care that this liberty of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak. For through your knowledge he who is weak is ruined, the brother for whose sake Christ died. And so, by sinning against the brethren and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ. Therefore, if food causes my brother to stumble, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause my brother to stumble.

We have a lot more liberality in our times now but what liberties are we comfortable with in our walk with God that may cause a brother or sister to stumble?

God of mercy and grace, forgive me for my insensitivity to the weaknesses and struggles of my brothers and sisters, that I could be contributing to their sin, by misuse of my knowledge from You. Make me aware and conscientiously seek to build them up in the knowledge of You so they may know the freedom found in You, Lord God. To Your glory and praise I pray in Jesus name. Amen.

🌹Prayer:

Jesus, You spoke to Your disciples, of which I profess to be, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Jesus, You were crucified, put to death, but God raised You up putting an end to the agony and power over death!! Hallelujah,  I rejoice that You sit at the right hand of the Father far above all rule and authority and power and dominion. You are ruler over all people. Your name, Jesus, is above all names. In Your name, Lord Jesus, I find my confidence to face the world for Your purpose and glory! Amen.

🌹Is God disclosing Himself to you?

Jesus, I desire to see Your glory, for You to reveal Yourself to me. I love You, Lord God and through Your word I diligently seek You and Your wisdom. I long to be obedient to Your commandments out of reverence for You. Would You show me Your glory? Will you disclose Yourself to me? If I have found favor in Your sight my Lord God, I believe You will show Your glory to me.

Praise The Creator

🌹God of all creation, I bow under Your great power. God, Creator of the heavens and the earth, I praise Your holy name. It is You who made the earth by Your great power, who established the world by Your wisdom, and by Your understanding You stretched out the heavens.
God, You spoke and the waters below the heavens were gathered into one place and the dry land appeared!

Promise Keeper

This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.

Do you trust in Jesus? Do you trust that He will keep His promise to whoever believes in Him?

And this is the will of the Father!!

For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”
John 6:40 NASB

“I Myself will raise him up on the last day“!
Wow!! Not only the promise but also the blessing of Jesus Himself who will raise each one up. Each one of our believing souls. Wow!!!

🌹What do you envision, or do you even envision, the moment when your faith is made sight?

I would love to know your “sight expectation” if you have one. If you don’t, why not take some time to image what your first step into heaven will be like. 

Don’t know Jesus?

If you haven’t trusted in Jesus, would you seek Him today? Ask a Christian friend. Visit a church and talk to a Pastor. Reach out to anyone in whom you know professes Jesus Christ as their Savior. Don’t delay, God’s promise is waiting.

You can go straight to the Lord God . . .

Dear glorious Father. I believe in Your Son, Jesus Christ, who came to die for me. I confess that I am a sinner in need of forgiveness. Thank you Jesus for sacrificing Your life for my sin and ungodly living. Jesus, be my Savior and help me to make You Lord of my life as I walk with you on this earth awaiting eternity. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

🌹God, You announced beforehand by the mouth of all the prophets, that Jesus Christ would suffer. Jesus, You are the fulfillment of this and the resurrection promise. A House Divided

Are you doing your part, in honor to God, to bring unity in your church body? God’s kingdom has enough outside conflict opposing it. Conflict within the body will only tear down and weaken the church and we will not be able to face the persecution to come. What a dishonor to our God to contribute to division within God’s Church, His body.

God of Comfort

But God, who comforts the depressed (humble), comforted us by the coming of Titus; and not only by his coming, but also by the comfort with which he was comforted in you, as he reported to us your longing, your mourning, your zeal for me; so that I rejoiced even more.
2 Corinthians 7:6‭-‬7 NASB

What a beautiful picture of our God. The Father of mercies and God of all comfort. He comforts each of us through His own beloved people. The church, God’s people, being the hands of comfort during trials, struggles, uncertainties, fear, etc. Under the influence of the Holy Spirit we are comforted and in turn comfort others. Aren’t you amazed when a brother or sister comes to comfort you and you find they have gone through a similar thing as you and share how God got them through? And they will probably reference someone who came along side them who had already experienced a similar situation.

God knows your afflictions, your woes, etc. Call out to Him, watch and wait to see how the Comforter, our Lord, will respond.

🌹Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
