The Nearness of God

But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord God my refuge, That I may tell of all Your works.
Psalms 73:28 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.73.28.NASB1995

šŸ™ God, You are my place of shelter, protection, and safety. You are my refuge. What have I to fear? I put my trust in You. Drawing near to You has been so, so good for me. ¹I draw near to hear Your instruction, heed Your word, trust in Your Word, and to be near to You, Lord God. Walking with You has opened my eyes to the wonder of You. I can’t help but speak of Your wonders. Use me Lord God for Your glory and purpose. I desire to speak of Your glorious work in me, a sinner saved by grace, for Your purpose and glory. Amen.

šŸ™Œ Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders which You have done, And Your thoughts toward us; There is none to compare with You. If I would declare and speak of them, They would be too numerous to count.

Psalms 91:1 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.91.1.NASB1995

šŸ™Wondrously show Your lovingkindness, O Savior of me who takes refuge at Your right hand, from those who rise up against me.
Keep me as the apple of the eye; Hide me in the shadow of Your wings.¹
For You have been a defense for the helpless, a defense for the needy in their distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat. The breath of the ruthless is like a rain storm against a wall.²
Lord, You are my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon You, Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.³
To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. O my God, in You I trust, do not let me be ashamed; do not let my enemies exult over me.⁓
In Your Holy Name and for Your glory I pray,Ā  amen.

Rock of Strength

Hear my cry, O God; Give heed to my prayer. From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been a refuge for me, A tower of strength against the enemy. Let me dwell in Your tent forever; Let me take refuge in the shelter of Your wings. Selah.

My Hiding Place

How great is Your goodness, Which You have stored up for those who fear You, Which You have wrought for those who take refuge in You, Before the sons of men! You hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the conspiracies of man; You keep them secretly in a shelter from the strife of tongues.

For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle (shelter); In the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock.
And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me, And I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts (of shouts) of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

Refuge, Shield and Shelter

Do homage (or lay hold of instruction) to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon (quickly, suddenly, easily) be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!
Psalms 2:12 NASB

🌹Lord, let all who take refuge in You be glad. Let them sing for joy and may You shelter them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in You. For it is You who blesses the righteous man, O Lord. You surround him with favor as with a shield. As I pray, my heart cries out on behalf of Your people of the Ukraine, Lord. Shield and shelter them that they may sing praises to Your name. Praying also for those we are not aware of who are crying out to You needing Your shield and protection. May they all know that You are the Lord their God. To Your glory in Jesus name. Amen

Dwelling

He who dwells in theĀ shelter of the Most High

Will abide in theĀ shadow of the Almighty. — Psalm 91:1

Wow. I love that word “dwelling”. A place of shelter, safety. A home. A permanent residence. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. šŸ˜€ Are you “dwelling” — living, residing, lingering — in the presence of the Most High, the Almighty?

A place to rest. A place to be revived. A place to draw near. But also a place to live!!! Live in the shadow and power of the Almighty.

Exulting Joy

Ā But let all whoĀ take refuge in YouĀ be glad,
Let them ever sing for joy;
AndĀ may YouĀ shelter them,
That those whoĀ love Your name may exult in You. — Psalm 5:11

Sometimes we just need to be reminded to run to the Lord. Thankful that God’s Word is there to lead us. When we’re down and our heart is heavy, no matter the reason, we can take refuge in the Lord. It is there that we find gladness, joy that makes our heart sing and the realization that in Him we can rejoice.

Do you love the Lord? Seek His shelter and you will delight, glory and revel in His name.

To God be the glory! For in our despair He brings joy as we dwell on Him.

Most High, Almighty

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. — Psalm 91:1

Asking the Lord for a verse to use in today’s devotional, He led me to this one. I couldn’t help but think back to Psalm 46:10 that tells us to be still and know that I am God. Being still and not reacting without guidance is really the challenge to trust in the Lord. As we cease striving for awhile, we dwell in the shelter of the Most High. We abide in the shadow of the Almighty wherein lies our strength and trust. How can you not trust in the Almighty?

Think on that one word. Almighty. All Mighty. There is nothing He cannot do, there is no one who can come against Him and win and there is no one who loves you more. Trust Him. Practice everyday surrendering more and more to Him and watch as Jesus transforms your life.

Be still and dwell in Jesus abiding in His everlasting shadow.

Continually seeking Him,

Sharon
