Boasting in The Lord

Thus says the Lord, β€œLet not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches;

but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the Lord.
Jeremiah 9:23-24 NASB1995

πŸ™Your lovingkindness, O Lord, extends to the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

. . . may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

No Partiality

My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism.
For if a man comes into your assembly with a gold ring and dressed in fine clothes, and there also comes in a poor man in dirty clothes, and you pay special attention to the one who is wearing the fine clothes, and say, β€œYou sit here in a good place,” and you say to the poor man, β€œYou stand over there, or sit down by my footstool,” have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil motives?
James 2:1-4 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/jas.2.1-4.NASB1995

The rich and the poor have a common bond, The Lord is the maker of them all.
There is no partiality with God and God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
We do not know the heart of a person by their attire or stature in society. We are not to judge for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him.
We shall not be partial to the poor nor defer to the great, nor judge according to appearance, but we are to judge our neighbor fairly with righteous judgment.

I rejoice at Your word, As one who finds great spoil.
Psalms 119:162 NASB1995

Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, For they are ever mine.
I have more insight than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, Because I have observed Your precepts. I have restrained my feet from every evil way, That I may keep Your word.
I have not turned aside from Your ordinances, For You Yourself have taught me.
How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth! From Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way.

Seeking Wisdom?

For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 2:6 NASB1995‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/pro.2.6.NASB1995

‭In 1 Kings 3, Solomon, the son of David, was a little child when he became King in place of his father. God spoke with Solomon and said, “ask what you wish Me to give you.” Solomon requested an understanding heart to judge the Lord’s people to discern between good and evil. It was pleasing in the sight of the Lord that Solomon had asked this thing. “God said to him, ‘Because you have asked for yourself discernment to understand justice, behold, I have done according to your words. Behold, I have given you a wise and discerning heart,'”

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.
James 3:17 NASB1995‬

A Repentant Heart

For thus says the high and exalted One Who lives forever (dwells in eternity), whose name is Holy, β€œI dwell on a high and holy place, And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit In order to revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of the contrite.

Who am I?

Therefore if God gave to them the same gift as He gave to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God’s way?”
Acts‬ ‭11:17‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/act.11.17.NASB1995

‭‭This passage is where Peter went to Jerusalem and was sharing testimony with the circumcised Jewish believers about the conversion of Gentiles, of their salvation. When he received opposition his response was, “who was I that I could stand in God’s way?”

I believe we have all been there. That is not the way we do things. That is not how Christians are supposed to act, talk, serve, etc. God and His word is always, or should be, the final word.

There is no wisdom and no understanding And no counsel against the Lord.
Proverbs‬ ‭21:30‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/pro.21.30.NASB1995

Not one person on the face of this earth is perfect or knows it all. We would be foolish to think this. We must be careful that we do not think or act as if we alone have any authority.
‭‭
Thus says the Lord, β€œLet not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches;
Jeremiah‬ ‭9:23‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/jer.9.23.NASB1995

We must seek the counsel of God. Through His Word. Through prayer. Alone and corporately.
‭‭
Then we must trust God and Him alone.

but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them; or else you may even be found fighting against God.”

Wait and Trust

Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord.
Psalms‬ ‭27:14‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.27.14.NASB1995

This week and three days last week have been about searching Psalm 27.

Verse 14 sums it all up.
First of all, it is all about God.
God is He who we need to seek, to trust. It is through Him, and Him alone, that we can be strong against the forces of evil and are able to fill our heart with courage. But how is this attainable?

WAIT.
Wait for the Lord. . .Wait for the Lord.
Sandwiched between those two phrases is where our protection, our strength, our courage are found. Are you willing to wait on the Lord? Willing to trust Him?

‭‭My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him. Psalms‬ ‭62:5‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.62.5.NASB1995

Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.
Isaiah‬ ‭40:31‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/isa.40.31.NASB1995

Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.

Wise or Unwise?

So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Ephesians 5:17 NASB

The unwise do not know the will of God.
They are foolish.
Where do we find the will of God?
In the Word of God.
Those who learn it will walk in wisdom.

Opening and reading the Bible daily will open the door to adventure that compares to no other. The wise will seek the Word, know the Word, and follow the Word so they can do the will of God.

🌹Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.
