Mirror of Christ

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.
But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer (a doer of a work), this man will be blessed in what he does (his doing).
James 1:23-25 NASB1995

Are we hearers of the word, who read the word out of duty, so we can check the box of religious obedience? Do we go out into the world and forget to Whom we belong? The One Whom we represent?

As doers of the word we have a responsibility to read, meditate, and practice the word under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Just as Jesus mirrored the Father, we are the mirror of God to others. Do others see the Light of Jesus in us? Are our words, actions, deeds leading others to Christ? By the power of the Holy Spirit residing in us we will be an effectual doer.

Put the word into practice otherwise it is forgotten.

🌹But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.

Pure in Heart

He (Jesus) opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying
‭“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Matthew 5:8 NASB1995‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/mat.5.8.NASB1995

Is seeing God a desire for you, believer; to see God face to face one day? The day we pass from this world to heaven isn’t the beginning of our seeing God. God is visible in the changed heart of a sinner. He is visible in the sanctifying change in believers. He is visible in answered prayers. He is visible to the pure in heart.

How can a young man (person) keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word.
Psalms 119:9 NASB1995‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.119.9.NASB1995

Your word is very pure, Therefore Your servant loves it.
Psalms 119:140 NASB1995‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.119.140.NASB1995

The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
Psalms 19:8 NASB1995‬

The Word of God. Reading it, meditating on it, obeying it, applying it. This is beneficial to a pure heart and enlightened eyes.

Prayer is also beneficial for a pure heart. To seek forgiveness, to talk with God about everything. To be thankful for revealing Himself in answered prayers and rejoicingin Him.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Psalms 51:10 NASB1995‬

But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
1 Timothy 1:5 NASB1995‬

And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

They are foolish.
Where do we find the will of God?
In the Word of God.
Those who learn it will walk in wisdom.

Opening and reading the Bible daily will open the door to adventure that compares to no other. The wise will seek the Word, know the Word, and follow the Word so they can do the will of God.

What a Way to Start a Day

In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch.
Psalms 5:3 NASB

And then . . .

Humble and Contrite

For My hand made all these things, Thus all these things came into being,” declares the Lord. “But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word. Isaiah 66:2 NASB

God, everything that ever was, is, or ever will be exists by Your hand. How could I or any being put ourselves above You, much less before You? Yet we walk as if we know it all. As if we do not need You. As if our ways are your ways, justified by You because we are ‘Christians’. God convict our hearts by Your Word. I pray that Your Word would make us tremble at any and every disobedience as we read, study, and meditate on Your Word. Humble the arrogant heart, Lord. Look to the one, as You promised, who comes to You with a remorseful, repentant heart desiring atonement from sin.

🌹My flesh trembles for fear of You, And I am afraid of Your judgments.
Psalms 119:120 NASB

My Shield

As for God, His way is blameless (Complete or having integrity); The word of the Lord is tested; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
2 Samuel 22:31 NASB

Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.
Proverbs 30:5 NASB

in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
Ephesians 6:16 NASB

Jesus, my Rock! Your work is perfect, For all Your ways are just; You are a God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright are You, Amen.
Deuteronomy 32:4 NASB

🌹My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; My savior, You save me from violence.

Holy Week – Wednesday

Silence. . . . . . .

Not much is written regarding the Wednesday of Holy Week. It has been mentioned that this was the preparation day for the Passover which is Thursday, the day before the week of Unleavened Bread.

‘These are the appointed times of the Lord, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at the times appointed for them. In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight is the Lord’s Passover. Then on the fifteenth day of the same month there is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the Lord; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread.
Leviticus 23:4‭-‬6 NASB

Jesus sent Peter and John to prepare for Passover:

And Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat it.” They said to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare it?” And He said to them, “When you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house that he enters. And you shall say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?” ’ And he will show you a large, furnished upper room; prepare it there.” And they left and found everything just as He had told them; and they prepared the Passover.
Luke 22:8‭-‬13 NASB

Where do you suppose Jesus was during the preparation?

Could Jesus have been with the Father in preparation for His death?

As I’m reading and meditating on Holy Week, I am noticing Jesus emphasizing the things the disciples are going to need. Faith and discernment were two things I noticed Jesus sharing.

Could Jesus have been away praying for His disciples?

🌹Jesus knew where to go in His despair. He has shown us where to go also. Jesus is our Advocate. He knew what lay ahead for His disciples then and for His disciples now. Jesus knows what lies before us and He preps us by the blessing of His word and prayer. Thank You, Jesus.

The Therefore

Practice these things and you will not stumble“: 2 Peter 1:10

Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence (virtue), and in your moral excellence (virtue), knowledge,
2 Peter 1:5‭ NASB

Applying all diligence! The New Testament for Everyone says, “you should strain every nerve”. Our faith is fragile. Faith isn’t a one time decision, it is a constant that needs nourished. Nourished with truths that distinguish right and wrong so we can express and convey right conduct, walk in righteousness. Jesus is our righteousness and His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. Christ Himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
2 Peter 1:3/Colossians 2:3 NASB

Apply the Word of God. God’s word is the moral compass of moral virtue. In the Word of God is the knowledge of the righteousness of Christ. I believe that God’s word has the power to transform our moral compass and fill us with the knowledge of Jesus Christ. To know Him is to love Him.

🌹Are you diligently reading God’s word on a daily basis?

Good and Blessed

He who gives attention to the word will find good, And blessed is he who trusts in the Lord.
Proverbs 16:20 NASB

One thing I ask of the Lord before opening His word, the sword of the Spirit, is for wisdom and understanding. I do this so, as I feast on God’s Word, I am able to taste and see that the Lord is good, attaining wisdom for the love of my soul and that through understanding I can do good. The Word is for life. Food, guidance, peace, contentment, understanding of the ways of life. Let me encourage you to be in the Word of God daily. For your good and God’s glory.
Ephesians 6:17b/Jeremiah 17:7/Psalms 34:8/Proverbs 19:8 NASB

🌹How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
