No Matter What, To God We Go.

Is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises.
James 5:13 NASB

The reference to suffering here in James is compared to the prophets of the Old Testament. They were sent by God to tell the Israelites a message from Him that was not well received.

As we share the Good News we often can get discouraged that no one is listening. No one is understanding their need for Jesus. Or as I recently experienced, they were being phony, lying and deceiving with a personal agenda. It can be disheartening.

Solution? Go to the Lord in prayer. He can heal the heart.
Take the people you share with to the Lord. Ultimately it is the Lord who changes hearts, not us. We simply need to be obedient and tell the story of Jesus and His saving grace. No matter the outcome God is in control.

And one day in heaven we might just meet that individual. Seeds planted that God used to change that person’s heart.

Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises.

It is extremely easy to sing praise when we have a cheerful heart. Is it the Lord to whom we direct our songs of praise?

🌹So whether suffering or cheerful, let our response be to seek the Lord God.

Psalm of Thanksgiving Pt. 2

Sing to the Lord, all the earth; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.
Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.
1 Chronicles 16:23-24

Sing to the Lord. Proclaim His salvation, the good news, from day to day. This is a Christian lifestyle.
Tell of His glory among the nations. This is missions. Proclaiming Christ to all peoples.

Why do we proclaim?

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; He also is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the Lord made the heavens.
Splendor and majesty are before Him, Strength and joy are in His place.
1 Chronicles 16:25-27

🌹May your strength and joy be found in Him today as you live with and for the Lord day to day.

Worship Leads To . . .

Sing to the Lord, bless His name; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day. Psalms 96:2 NASB

“Proclaim good tidings”, good news, “of His salvation”. How good are we at doing that? Do we proclaim the gospel “from day to day”?

If we are honest many of us have never even shared the gospel. We trust the church to do that so we invite people to church.

Could there be a missing link as to why we don’t share?

“Sing to the Lord, bless His name”.

🌹How is your prayer life? Where is your main focus directed throughout your day? Is worship of God a priority in your life? Do you have a personal, intimate, real relationship with Almighty God?

Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name.
Psalms 100:4 NASB

If you do you will experience Him and be filled up with His Holy Spirit. Under the Holy Spirit’s guidance you can’t help but proclaim Jesus Christ.

🌹How is your relationship with God. He calls us to proclaim His gospel.

And He was saying to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.
Luke 10:2; Matthew 9:37-38 NASB

You might want to read Psalm 71 while contemplating the connection of the worship of God leading to proclaiming salvation to the lost.

Wake Up Call

I am reading through the Old Testament now and about the prophets that God sent to worn the people of Israel.

As I read and listened for the Holy Spirit’s direction on a devotion for the day, I couldn’t help but put myself in their shoes.

They came with good news that is dependent upon the action of the people. It sounds like bad news. It is depressing news. No uplifting sentiment. No “feel good” message.

As God’s church experiences the current situation in the world, are we listening? The prophets are of old. The Holy Spirit is now residing in the church. . . Or is He? All things, ALL things happen for a purpose. God is sovereign over ALL. Thus He will use our current circumstances to bring glory to Himself and fulfill His purpose.

We have a choice that can affect the outcome of these days.

Now therefore amend your ways and your deeds and obey the voice of the Lord your God; and the Lord will change His mind about the misfortune which He has pronounced against you. Jeremiah 26:13 NASB

🌹Are God’s warnings good news or bad news? The choice is ours. Choose to repent and follow or continue to live life as if what’s happening around you is not God calling His church to wake up.

Feet

How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!” — Romans 10:14-15

Feet are definitely not my favorite part of the body. Anybody’s body. But here they are referred to as beautiful.

If I rewind into the past when this was written I see feet that are dirty, calloused, possibly with blisters depending on the length of travel, and bloody spots due to rocks or other debris they come across. Not so beautiful. The sacrifice to spread the good news is what makes those feet beautiful.

I look at Jesus as He went to the cross. Bloody. Scarred. Dirt embedded in every crevice. Possibly blisters. Not a pretty picture and yet a beautiful sacrifice because He brought good news!!! He brought reconciliation, salvation, eternity.

How beautiful are the feet of those who bring Good News!!!

In The Spirit?

However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. — Romans 8:9-11

Now that is good news. Pretty much black and white. Either you do or you don’t.

Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. — John 14:23

Do you or don’t you have the Spirit of God in you? Choose today. It is a life and death situation.

The Park

What a beautiful, out of the ordinary, winter day in the Midwest. Opportunity afforded me the blessing to take my grandson to the park for some exercise, fresh springtime air, and to be truthful keep him occupied and wear him out for the rest of the day. (It’s rough on this old body caring and especially playing with these youngins). And to let you know, he wore grandma out. He won.

But the real reason for this post is to tell you that God gives us opportunities to serve Him and tell the world about Him. As I was watching my grandson play, a nice young gentleman, there with his 2 year-old son, started up a conversation. I found out he was new in the area and he was wearing a big ole cross on his chest.

Going to pause here for a moment to rewind to Sunday at church. We, as a church, have been challenged to ask someone to church. Statistics show that a large percentage of people would attend church if they were asked to come. I also have been inspired by a fellow sister in the Lord to witness more. I have been praying asking the Lord to open my eyes, teach me, show me how to witness. He has also placed a very heavy, I mean very heavy, burden on my heart for those who are traveling the wide road to destruction. But back to my story. . .

New in the area, big cross on his chest. . . I say, “I see you are wearing a cross. Does it have any special significance to you?” He told me that when he died he would be with the One who died on the cross. Hallelujah!!! And since he was new in town I asked if he had found a church. He had. That’s great.

As I was driving home and thinking over what had happened and thanking God for opening my eyes to the opportunity I was reminded that I had also directed, invited, a woman and her family to my church when she was asking me if I knew of a church in the area. This was while I was at work. God makes opportunities for us. Those opportunities are there everyday, we just don’t see them because our focus is not on Christ.

Ask God to open your eyes to and heart for the lost of this world. Billions are headed to Hell. God has called us to share the Good News.

The Christmas Gift

Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through Him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses. — Acts 13:38-39

Free. What a wonderful word for this season. Amazing that Christmas time is so filled with”hustle and bustle”, stress, over indulging, lack of sleep, “bah humbug” and the like. Could it be we have turned Christmas into something it isn’t?

Christmas. What a wonderful word. Christ fulfilled. Salvation. Forgiveness. Hope. Love. Joy. Peace. Freedom. Good News!

Come let us adore Him!!! Celebrate the real Christmas. Christ Himself.

Good News

And we preach to you the good news of the promise made to the fathers, that God has fulfilled this promise to our children in that He raised up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm, ‘You are My Son; today I have begotten You.’ — Acts 13:32-33

Celebrate, it’s Christmas!!!! What better reason to celebrate than the fulfillment of prophesy in Jesus Christ, the only begotten of the Father. The promise of God to all generations that came in a humble stable.

The precious baby that would sacrifice His life for us. The good news of His resurrection all wrapped up in a beautiful gift and all for those who will believe.

The only begotten Son freely given. Will you accept the gift?

Jesus. The best gift you will receive this Christmas. Celebrate!!

Blessed Be The Lord

Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, The God who is our salvation. Selah. 20 God is to us a God of deliverances; And to God the Lord belong escapes from death. — Psalm 68:19-20

“Jesus is the rescuer for sinners, the ransom from heaven” from a song (wish I could tell you the name of it or the artist but alas I just know I love the song). We have a lot to be thankful for. He is our escape from death, our deliverance from sin, the bearer of our burdens, our salvation. Are you thankful and blessed by this? Are you telling anyone of the wonderful good news? My heart is heavy for the lost. Pray with me for them and ask God to place individuals in your life that you can witness to of the wonderful salvation of our Lord.

O God, You are awesome from Your sanctuary. The God of Israel Himself gives strength and power to the people. Blessed be God! — Psalm 68:35
