Consider It ALL Joy?!

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance (steadfastness).
James 1:2-3 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/jas.1.2-3.NASB1995

How can God expect joy when you get a phone call at work stating your house is on fire five days before Christmas? How can your heart be joyous when a week later you lose your job? How can He expect it? Because He is God. This unexpected trial brought a closer walk with God. It grew my dependence upon Him. I learned to trust God with my life. With endurance, steadfastness, I know I lack nothing in my God.

And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
James 1:4 NASB1995

🌹By your endurance you will gain your lives.

A Distinguished People

Moses, known by God who said, ‘I have known you by name’, and having found favor with God was chosen to bring God’s people to the promised land.
Moses asks God,  “Who will You send with me to bring up these people?”
Now therefore, I pray You, if I have found favor in Your sight, let me know Your ways that I may know You, so that I may find favor in Your sight.”

Moses prays, ‘That I may know You.’ Did you catch that? And how do we know God? By knowing His ways. God shows us His way through the Bible, through Jesus who is the way, and the Holy Spirit, so that we may know Him.

And God answers Moses, “My presence shall go with you, . . .”
Exodus 33:12-14 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/exo.33.12-14.NASB1995

Is your walk with God visible? Is God’s presence noticeable to you? Do others see Him in you?

Are you walking everyday with God? Is He your constant companion? Do you look different from the world?

🌹For how then can it be known that I have found favor in Your sight, I and Your people? Is it not by Your going with us, so that we, I and Your people, may be distinguished from all the other people who are upon the face of the earth?”

Jesus, The Ladder of Heaven

The stairway in Genesis 28:10-17  represents God reaching down to man.

Jacob, the son of Jacob, the son of Abraham, departed from Beersheba and went toward Haran. On his journey he came to a place where he slept and had a dream.

“a ladder was set on the earth with its top reaching to heaven; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
And behold, the Lord stood above it (beside him) and said, “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie, I will give it to you and to your descendants.
Genesis 28:12-13 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/gen.28.12-13.NASB1995

Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.” He was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.”
Genesis 28:16-17 NASB1995

🌹 Jacob had an encounter with God. Jesus brings heaven to earth.

Speaking the Gospel

Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; . . . so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
1 Peter 4:11a, c NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/1pe.4.11.NASB1995

What a privilege we have to be entrusted with the gospel of Jesus Christ. To tell people about the saving grace we embrace. But do we? Are we embarrassed, ashamed, afraid? Fear is the greatest deterrent I’ve found to sharing the gospel. Fear of rejection being at the top of the list. Contentment in our own salvation is another. God commands us to go into all the world and make disciples, so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who examines our hearts.
1 Thessalonians 2:4; Matthew 28:19-20 NASB1995

So, what can we do?

🌹Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.

Remember: Your Choice

Free will:
I either choose to do my will or God’s will.
I choose to obey or disobey commandments.
I choose to follow God’s way or my way.
I choose to believe God’s truth or the world’s (my own self made) truth.
I choose to live for Jesus or for myself.
I choose God’s will or my will.

In the Garden, Jesus chose the Father’s will,

saying, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.”
Luke 22:42 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/luk.22.42.NASB1995

Walking with Jesus is letting Him lead. It’s letting God show us the way so we may fulfill His purpose in us and through us. Submission to His will is allowing us to partake in His grand plan for mankind . . . life, peace, eternal blessings, love and joy. It’s to live eternally with no sin, no pain, no anguish, no fighting, no war, etc.

Your choice.
A lifetime of anguish and pain now – doing God’s will and a peaceful, perfect eternity with no anguish;
OR
Your will now that continues the anguish of sin for eternity.

Will you let God have His way in you?

for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.
Philippians 2:13 NASB1995

🌹Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Loyalty &Allegiance

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.
Matthew 6:24 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/mat.6.24.NASB1995

God is not against wealth. But when wealth becomes the object of worship, then there is a problem. There is nothing wrong with being successful unless that becomes an object of worship. When success and wealth become our obsession then there is a problem.

for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:21 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/mat.6.21.NASB1995

God is our provider. He provides what we need. He blesses those who faithfully serve Him, those who are loyal to His purpose and cause.

🌹Where do you place your allegiance? In treasures (wealth) or God?
