This verse brings to mind that glorious day when all the saved in Christ will be gathered up from among many nations to see our glorious Lord before us. We are to be holy as God is holy. So how does that happen? Can I just be holy because God is holy?
In the Old Testament Holy God resided in the temple. In the Holy of Holies. It was a sanctified, cleansed, holy area of the temple.
In the New Testament we are the temple where the Holy God resides now. In the heart where God has cleansed us by the blood of Christ, is sanctifying us everyday, where holiness, His holiness resides.
How can you receive this holiness?
Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:38 NASB
A repentant heart baptized in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sin is the necessary step to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
