Did It or Not To Me

The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’
Matthew 25:40 NASB

Then He will answer them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ Matthew 25:45 NASB

These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
Matthew 25:46 NASB

God is all about people. He created them. He pursues a relationship with them. He pours out blessings on those who are His.

Since God is all about people, should we not also be?

During this time of Covid, many people are isolated in their homes with little to no human contact. Have we checked on our brothers and sisters who are not gathering with us for church? Do we take the time to “do for one of these”?

ūüĆĻWho has God placed on your heart, in your mind to reach out to? “to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.”

Redeemed Ambassadors

And Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, does not believe in Me but in Him who sent Me.

He who sees Me sees the One who sent Me.

I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.

If anyone hears My sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.

He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.

For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak.

I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me.”

John 12:44‭-‬50 NASB

Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth;  knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.

1 Peter 1:13‭, ‬17‭-‬19 NASB

ūüĆĻNow all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.¬† Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

2 Corinthians 5:18‭-‬20 NASB

ūüôŹ Jesus, our perfect example, help us to rely on Your word, Your Holy Spirit, and our hope found in You to be Your ambassadors of reconciliation to the lost of the world.

Love Enabled

And a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” And He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?”¬† And he answered, “you shall love the¬† Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” And He said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this and you will live.” Luke 10:25‚Ä≠-‚Ĩ28 NASB

Sounds easy. Does it? Is it?

“Love with all your heart.”

“The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it? Jeremiah 17:9 NASB

Without the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in us, we are not capable to love the Lord with all our heart.

“Love the Lord with all your soul.”

The soul. The inner, spiritual part of us. We are not able to love with all our soul unless our soul is in communion with the soul of God Himself.

Moreover, I will make My dwelling among you, and My soul will not reject you. Leviticus 26:11 NASB

“Love the Lord with all your mind.”

But their minds were hardened; for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains unlifted, because it is removed in Christ. 2 Corinthians 3:14 NASB

Without Christ in us we are blind and unable to love God with all our mind.

“The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; This is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will extol Him. Exodus 15:2 NASB

We are weak without the Lord. He is our strength.

So how can we love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind and strenghth?

We need to know Him. Not of Him, but personally know Him.

How? Seek Him.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7 NASB

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.  Matthew 6:33 NASB

Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face continually. Psalms 105:4 NASB

Seeking God, you will find Him because He is love. His love, who He is, enables us to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.

The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 John 4:8 NASB

In Jesus Only

You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me;
John 5:39 NASB

From Genesis to Revelation is the testimony  and revelation of Jesus Christ. He was in the beginning at the creation. He is present in all the Scriptures revealing His character, His plan, His redemptive power, the revelation of His manifestation as a man walking the earth. His death, resurrection and return one day to usher His saints into eternity.

In Jesus Christ alone is salvation and eternal life.

ūüĆĻDo you want to know Him? Do you want a deep personal walk with Jesus, walk in His footsteps? Open the word of God and search the Scriptures for they testify of Him.

The Word is a Person

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.              John 1:1 NASB

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.                                              John 1:14 NASB

Let us not forget that the Word of God is a Person. The Person of Jesus Christ. All of the history in the Old Testament was about the relationship of man to God revealing Jesus, the Person, the Word, that would come in the flesh to reveal Himself as Savior and the reconciliation of man to the Father.

The New Testament, the Word, is about that work of reconciliation and the ultimate crescendo to life eternal with the Word, Jesus Christ.

Without the Word we have no hope, no reconciliation, no relationship. Do you want to know Jesus and be reconciled to the Father? Look to the Word, Jesus Christ.

So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11 NASB

ūüĆĻKnow the Word by reading the Word of God.

Knowledge of God and Jesus Christ

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; — 2 Peter 1:2

This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. — John 17:3

More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, — Philippians 3:8

seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. — 2 Peter 1:3

but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. — 2 Peter 3:18

Got The Time?

Do¬†this, knowing the time, that it is¬†already the hour for you to¬† awaken from sleep; for now¬† salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. — Romans 13:11

“Do this” refers back to Romans 13:8-10 (yesterday’s devotion) to love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus loved us so much He gave His life up on a cross so we could have salvation from sin and He rose so we could have eternal life. Hallelujah!!!!¬†And to think that each passing moment we are closer to that reality then we have ever been when we shall see Jesus in all His glory!!!

Knowing that the time is coming how can we love one another more than to share the gospel message? It is time for the Christian to wake up:
“Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. (Matthew 24:42)
Become sober-minded as you ought, and stop sinning; for some have no knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame. (1 Corinthians 15:34)

If you say you are a “Christian” you represent Jesus in all you say and do. Are you willing to share Him so that others may know the hope found in Him?¬†People need Jesus!

Be Transformed

And do not¬†be conformed to¬†this¬†world, but be transformed by the¬† renewing of your mind, so that you may¬†prove what the will of God is, that which is good and¬†acceptable and perfect. — Romans 12:2

Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. — Colossians 3:2

if indeed you¬†have heard Him and have¬†been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus,¬†that, in reference to your former manner of life, you¬†lay aside the¬†old¬†self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the¬†lusts of deceit,¬†and that you be¬†renewed in the spirit of your mind,¬†and¬†put on the¬†new¬†self, which¬†in¬†the likeness of¬†God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. — Ephesians 4:21-24

But you,¬†beloved,¬†building yourselves up on your most holy¬†faith,¬†praying in the Holy Spirit,¬†keep yourselves in the love of God,¬†waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.¬†And have mercy on some, who are doubting;¬†save others, ¬† snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear,¬†hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.¬†— Jude 1:20-23

How is your transformation coming? Does God have your attention? Are you setting your mind on the things above? Are you being taught the truth, Jesus Christ, by reading your Bible, taking part in a study group, listening to the Word of God preached? Are you building up your faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, and keeping yourself in the love of God? Are you anxiously awaiting Jesus’ return and telling others of His mercy and grace?

How are you renewing your mind for the purpose of God — knowing and fulfilling His will?

Again. Does God have your attention?

Slavery

For¬†when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.¬†Therefore what¬†benefit were you then¬†deriving¬†from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is¬†death.¬†But now having been¬†freed from sin and¬†enslaved to God, you¬†derive your benefit,¬†resulting in sanctification, and¬†the outcome, eternal life.¬†For the wages of¬†sin is death, but the free gift of God is¬†eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. — Romans 6:20-23

We are all slaves to something. We choose whom we are enslaved to. Enslaved to sin, free from righteousness, resulting in death or enslaved to righteousness, free from sin, resulting in eternal life.

Who do you choose? I choose Jesus!

Simply Believe?

What then shall we say that Abraham,¬†our forefather¬†according to the flesh, has found?¬†For if Abraham was justified¬†by works, he has something to boast about, but¬†not¬†before God.¬†For what does the Scripture say? ‚ÄúAbraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.‚Ä̬†Now to the one who¬†works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due.¬†But to the one who does not work, but¬†believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness,¬†just as David also speaks of the blessing on the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:¬†
“Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven, And whose sins have been covered.

‚ÄúBlessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not¬†take into account.‚ÄĚ — Romans 4:1-8

Believe. Really? That’s all I have to do?

If it were easy to simply believe wouldn’t more people be doing it? It’s a choice that does not come easy. Why?

Because the only part we play in it is “believe”. Well that is too easy and there has to be more. . .

Let me relay a little story. In the early 1980s, while working at a hospital, I had the privilege of learning the computer system that was being installed in the hospital. In return for learning I was to instruct all the new nurses that were assigned to the floor that I worked on. At that time computers were pretty archaic. There were basically two keys that you would use and all you had to do was remember the functionality of those two keys. Simple, right?

Out of all the nurses I trained over the next 10 years, I would have to say that over 90% heard these words from my mouth, “You’re making it harder than it is”. They were over thinking it because it “should be harder than it looks”.

Are you making the decision to believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God — who died on a cross, bearing your sin, and 3 days later arose from the grave — more complicated than it has to be?

Your salvation and eternal life with God does not depend on anything you “do”. It depends on what God has already done and on whether you believe.
