Give Thanks

“Only fear the Lord and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you — 1 Samuel 12:24

Do we really consider all the great things the Lord had done for us? If we did we would reverence Him more, serve Him better, seek Him with all our heart and be more content where we are. Thank Him today for all the great things He has done for you. Let’s “give thanks with a grateful heart, give thanks to the Holy One, give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ His Son”.

Quiet Time

In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch. — Psalm 5:3

Did God hear from you this morning? Did you give Him glory, confess your transgressions, thank Him and then ask? Are you eagerly waiting this morning for the answers to your prayers? Are you looking for the glory of God to be revealed today? Quiet time is a special time and puts a new perspective on the “same old routine”.

Have a blessed weekend.

Power of Prayer

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, And rescues them. — Psalm 34:7

Have you ever  awoken at an odd hour and not been able to get back to sleep? You have this unexplained feeling that you’ve been awaken for a purpose? Yesterday morning I woke around 4 a.m. and tossed and turned for about thirty minutes when I finally gave in and got up. That feeling of purpose was there so I began to pray for my husband, still in bed sleeping away, and my children. I wondered if something was going on with my daughter, as I’ve said before, since she is having her baby next week. I took each of my kids and their significant others to the Lord in prayer.

Well unbeknownst to me my son was in a car accident. On his way to work he fell asleep at the wheel. He woke up in time to see himself headed to the back of a van, slammed on his brakes and veered to the right just catching the passenger side rear bumper of the van. He was banged up a bit but is doing fine. His car actually looks in pretty good shape too. The van driver was fine.

Talking with my son at 7:30, when he called me from the Emergency Room, he told me that he was thankful for the van being in his way or he would have entered a busy intersection and who knows what would have happened. We have a lot to be thankful for.

I don’t know about you but when God calls us in the middle of the night or in the early morning we need to listen and pray, pray hard. We may not know what we are praying for but the power of pray can call down angels from heaven to encamp around those who fear the Lord. I do not regret the lost sleep nor the time spent in prayer. When I think that my prayer could have been the difference between life and death for someone it is all worth it.

Prayer is powerful. God is more powerful. Take any time you are awake in the quiet of the night or day and talk to God. You could be making a difference in someones life just by praying.

Hope For The Future

“There is hope for your future,” declares the Lord, “And your children will return to their own territory. — Jeremiah 31:17

I believe there is no greater joy than when you see the years of prayer you put in for your children begin to be answered.

My husband and I have often discussed how we were not the best parents but did the best we could — most of the time. We both believe it is by grace that our children managed to survive our rearing of them. I thank God that He is perfect and loves my children more than I could ever love them.

All our children have reached adulthood, despite their parents, and have not always followed our advice and counsel nor that of the Lord. They have wandered out into the world and made mistakes — but haven’t we all. In my 21 months away from my family I focused a lot on praying for my husband and kids, many times on my knees crying out on their behalf. My children were introduced to Jesus, all making a profession of faith, and then wandered into the world without Christ. It has just been recently that I see the miracle transformation taking place in all of them and I am ecstatic.

Rebellion from attending church has been turned into faithful consistent attendance. Never seeing them open the Word of God to asking where their Bible is, and seeing them reading it. Finding one in prayer and meditation with an open Bible. Alienation from church and Christians to a desire to fellowship.

The point of this is that my ever faithful God, in His perfect timing is answering my prayers and my tears are now tears of joy. Thank You Lord God for listening and for answering. Thank You for what You are doing in the lives of my children. May You continue to be glorified in their transformation. There is hope for my future and theirs.

Hope in the Living God

I wait for the Lord, my soul does wait, And in His word do I hope. — Psalm 130:5
Sustain me according to Your word, that I may live; And do not let me be ashamed of my hope. — Psalm 119:116
So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. — Hebrews 6:18

My hope is in the living God. By His Word I am sustained so that I may live in hope. In trusting God and His promises I will not be ashamed of my hope because my God speaks the truth in His Holy Word. It is impossible for Him to lie so I can put my complete trust in Him, find refuge in Him and in Him I have great confidence to hold to the hope of a future. A future designed by God for His purpose. I shall live and not be ashamed of my hope because I know my Lord and I am confident that He has my future in hand. He is my hope, and His Word is my stay. I shall trust in Him. I shall hope in Him.

Blessed Are We!

So David blessed the Lord in the sight of all the assembly; and David said, “Blessed are You, O Lord God of Israel our father, forever and ever. 11 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all. 12 Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone. 13 Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name. — 1 Chronicles 29:10-13

Wow!!! Hallelujah!!!! Praise God!!!!!

Our Father forever and ever
He is greatness and power
He is glory and victory
He is majesty
He is the ruler over His creation
He has dominion over all
He is the giver of riches and honor

Hope

O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is lovingkindness, And with Him is abundant redemption. Psalm 130:7

Praise God for His gracious lovingkindness. In that lovingkindess toward His creation He has sent redemption to His people; He has ordained His covenant forever; Holy and awesome is His name. (Psalm 111:9) He has sent His redemption through Jesus Christ. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace (Ephesians 1:7)

Oh how thankful I am that my God is rich in grace forgiving me of all unrighteousness for the sake of Jesus His Son. I am grateful each day for the price Christ paid on my behalf and the joy of walking with Him and the hope that is found in the Lord. Have you received redemption? Are you experiencing a close, intimate relationship with the great Son of God? Do you have hope in the Lord? Jesus is the way, truth and life. Faith in Him will give you hope.

But as for me, I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more. Psalm 71:14

Lovingkindness

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
2 Give thanks to the God of gods,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
4 To Him who alone does great wonders,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting;
5 To Him who made the heavens with skill,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting;
6 To Him who spread out the earth above the waters,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting;
7 To Him who made the great lights,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting:
8 The sun to rule by day,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
9 The moon and stars to rule by night,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
26 Give thanks to the God of heaven,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

Psalm 136:1-9, 26

Today was an absolute day of blessing after blessing from my wonderful Lord. He knows my heart and blesses it. He knows my needs and meets them with blessing. I could ask for nothing better than my wonderful Lord for His lovingkindness is everlasting. Praise and glory to the only true God worthy of worship and praise!

Attitude

speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; — Ephesians 5:19

Isn’t attitude a choice? When you rise in the morning is your attitude one of thankfulness to God for a brand new day of life; reverence of Him who IS; and seeking His wisdom to make the most of your time? (Ephesians 5:15-16)
Paul tells us to not be foolish but understand what the will of the Father is. Be filled with the Spirit. (Ephesians 5:17-18) How is this accomplished? By reading and studying the Bible and by prayer. Our attitude is greatly influenced by our involvement with the Lord Jesus.
Attitude is a choice and I choose to seek Jesus so that my attitude overflows into my day to touch the lives of others all the while singing and making melody with my heart to the Lord!
Are you ready for an attitude adjustment?

See His Greatness

‘O Lord God, You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your strong hand; for what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do such works and mighty acts as Yours? — Deuteronomy 3:24

What a word of praise and awesome wonder when God reveals Himself to His surrendered servant. When we trust and rely on Jesus Christ with our fully surrendered lives, we see His greatness and strong hand in our lives. There is no doubt that God is alive and working among His people.

I believe there is no greater work or mighty act today than the reconciliation of us to God Himself. God is actively working in our lives to mold us into His perfect people. The transformation process, although tough, is a beautiful thing to behold. In ourselves it is usually seen in hindsight but watching it in others is so exhilarating and exciting. Let me share an example:

My future son-in-law and daughter found a wedding dress the other day for
their upcoming wedding on Saturday. They left the store with the security
tab still attached to the dress. My son-in-law tried to remove the tab that
has ink on the inside and of course the ink bled all over the dress. My
son-in-law is a baby christian – accepted the Lord as a child but never
experienced any walk. I have been praying for him for many years . . .
but back to the story. He returned the dress and got a new one but that
is not the best part of the story. This is the text I received from my
daughter when I asked what happened with the dress situation: “He got it.
Last large they had. . . he said he kept praying and when he found it he
was thanking Jesus over and over”.

I was rejoicing and thanking the Lord for this transformation experience. Thanking the Lord for His greatness. Who can do such works and mighty acts as these? My God and Him alone.

Thank God for His transforming work in the lives of His people. Something only He can accomplish.
