Wholly Devoted

He (Hezekiah) did right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father David had done.
2 Kings 18:3 NASB

he did what was good, right and true before the Lord his God.
2 Chronicles 31:20b NASB

Wouldn’t it be something if we had the same reputation that Hezekiah, king of Judah, had? Doing right in the sight of our Lord? Doing what was good, right and true before the Lord?

When we belong to God there are expectations. After all we are the temple of the Holy Spirit who resides in us.

So how did Hezekiah do it?

He trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel; so that after him there was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among those who were before him. For he clung to the Lord; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the Lord had commanded Moses.
2 Kings 18:5‭-‬6 NASB

Hezekiah obeyed.

You shall follow the Lord your God and fear Him; and you shall keep His commandments, listen to His voice, serve Him, and cling to Him.
Deuteronomy 13:4 NASB

Hezekiah surrendered his life to God.

Before him there was no king like him who turned to the Lord with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; nor did any like him arise after him.
2 Kings 23:25 NASB

🌹Let your heart therefore be wholly devoted to the Lord our God, to walk in His statutes and to keep His commandments, as at this day.”
1 Kings 8:61 NASB

Trust Without Fear

In God, whose word I praise, In God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere man (flesh) do to me?
In God, whose word I praise, In the Lord, whose word I praise, In God I have put my trust (or trust without fear), I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?
For You have delivered my soul from death, Indeed my feet from stumbling, So that I may walk before God In the light of the living (life).
Psalms 56:4‭, ‬10‭-‬11‭, ‬13 NASB

As God’s child should I not instinctively  cling with trust to my Father?
This brings my mind back to my child-rearing days when my little ones would cling to me when a stranger was near. It was okay for them to laugh at someone making faces at them as long as they were in the arms of their parent in whom they trusted.
When they were learning to walk, they would hold tight to my hand. They instinctively trusted the hand that would hold them steady as they walked without stumbling.

God has delivered my soul from death, so that I may walk before Him in the light of life without fear of what man can do to me. Yes, in God, whose word I praise, in God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid!

The Lord is for me; I will not fear; What can man do to me?
Psalms 118:6 NASB

so that we confidently say, “The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?”
Hebrews 13:6 NASB

🌹Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matthew 10:28 NASB

Never Satisfied

Egypt – the Israelites, God’s people, were grumbling about the severe condition of slavery they were in. God sends help. God provides an abundance of trinkets and supplies to send them away from this burden.

God provides protection. God shows the way. They experience miraculous things. Then it happened. Discontentment. Boredom. It becomes all about “ME”!

The sons of Israel said to them, “Would that we had died by the Lord’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”
Exodus 16:3 NASB

The people spoke against God and Moses, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we loathe this miserable food.”
Numbers 21:5 NASB

When the focus turns from God to “me” it is so easy to forget what God has done; to remember from where He has brought me, to where I am now. He has a plan for each of His children, and it isn’t “to kill this whole assembly”.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
John 10:10 NASB

And I have to chuckle at, “there is no food or water” and in the same sentence ” we loathe this miserable food”.
Aren’t we like that too? We don’t lack God’s provision, we just don’t like how it is dished out. This is especially evident in trials and tribulations.
What we need to remember is that God is still the same God in all situations. He can be trusted that what He is doing in our lives is for our good and His glory!! No doubt.

🌹Are you satisfied in God? Trusting God in all situations?

Unwavering Belief

yet, with respect to the promise of God, he (Abraham) did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God,
Romans 4:20 NASB

Abraham contemplating his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and considering the deadness of Sarah’s womb; did not — listen — did NOT waver in unbelief when it came to God’s promise to build a nation of descendants from him and Sarah.
(Romans 4:19)
That is faith. God keeps His promises. Every One of Them!! God can do the impossible.

It is not up to us to fulfill His purpose in us, for we are feeble, wretched, sinful, weak people. But . . . God. He will work in and use those who believe, those who surrender their will to His will. Those who trust in His Word.

So, let us not waver in unbelief, but grow in faith, giving glory to God as He works in and through us. His will be done.

And Jesus said to him, “ ‘If You can?’ All things are possible to him who believes.”
Mark 9:23 NASB

“I know that You can do all things, And that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.
Job 42:2 NASB

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13 NASB

Living Water

“Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the Lord God is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.”  Therefore you will joyously draw water From the springs of salvation.  Isaiah 12:2-3 NASB

🌹God of my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid, as I practice being steadfast of mind, for You will keep me in perfect peace because I trust in You. You are my strength and song and have become my salvation! You are my God and I will praise You; my father’s God and I will extol You! You are my salvation and I thank You for the gift of living water I have the privilege to partake of from the springs of salvation. From my innermost being flows the river of living water, Your Holy Spirit, because I believe in You, Jesus. May I share this gift of living water with others who are thirsty that they also may partake of the living water of salvation. In Jesus name and for His glory I pray, amen.  Isaiah 26:3/Exodus 15:2/John 4:10/John 7:37‭-‬38 NASB

Good and Blessed

He who gives attention to the word will find good, And blessed is he who trusts in the Lord.
Proverbs 16:20 NASB

One thing I ask of the Lord before opening His word, the sword of the Spirit, is for wisdom and understanding. I do this so, as I feast on God’s Word, I am able to taste and see that the Lord is good, attaining wisdom for the love of my soul and that through understanding I can do good. The Word is for life. Food, guidance, peace, contentment, understanding of the ways of life. Let me encourage you to be in the Word of God daily. For your good and God’s glory.
Ephesians 6:17b/Jeremiah 17:7/Psalms 34:8/Proverbs 19:8 NASB

🌹How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

1 John 5:10-11

The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 1 John 5:10‭-‬11 NASB

God of all creation, Your plan is perfect. You created mankind and called them to love, trust and obey You. . . We failed and fell.

But God. You made a way for all mankind to reconcile this fallen relationship. You sent Jesus, Your Son. By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. And this is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life. He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

GOD, I pray for family near and far; for co-workers, neighbors, acquaintances to know that in Jesus is life, and this life is the Light of men. He who believes in Jesus is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Thank You God for Your Spirit who testifies with my spirit that I am a child of Yours. Guide my words as You give me opportunity to testify and proclaim eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us— Jesus my Savior in whose name I pray, amen.  1 John 4:9/John 3:36/1 John 2:25/John 1:4/John 3:18/Romans 8:16/1 John 1:2 NASB

🌹He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” John 3:36 NASB
