Attention to the Word – Part 2

And blessed is he who trusts in the Lord.
Proverbs 16:20b NASB

Where does trust come from? Isn’t trust built in relationships by spending time and getting to know someone? We are instructed to trust in the Lord.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5 NASB

But where does trust in the Lord come from? It comes from knowing Jesus. And how do we come to the knowledge of Jesus? Through the word of God.

Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
Psalms 119:105 NASB

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord And whose trust is the Lord.
Jeremiah 17:7 NASB

Blessed is the one who not only trusts IN the Lord but whose trust IS the Lord!!
Wow!!

🌹Lord God, I want to taste Your words and know their sweetness. May Your words be sweeter than honey to my mouth. As I taste I ask for wisdom and understanding and surrender to Your will in full trust of who You are and whose I am. In Jesus name, amen.
(Psalms 119:103 NASB)

The Shield

Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. For our heart rejoices in Him, Because we trust in His holy name.
Psalm 33:2021 NASB

Our shield is our trust in the God of all creation. No matter our circumstances –  the highs and lows; the good; the bad; the downright awful; the joy; the pain – our heart rejoices.
God, my soul waits in silence for You only; From You is my salvation. (Psalm 62:1)
But I have trusted in Your lovingkindness; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
Psalms 13:5 NASB

Let Your lovingkindness, O Lord, be upon us, According as we have hoped (waited  for) in You.
Psalm 33:22 NASB

“According as we have hoped in You”. That is quite the statement. Our hope, waiting on the Lord, trusting His shield is protecting us in every circumstance in life, that He is our protector. . . What is your level of hope in God?

🌹The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him.
Psalms 28:7 NASB

From Trust to Praise

And He said, “Certainly I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God at this mountain.”
Exodus 3:12 NASB

Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.
Psalms 42:11 NASB

God sent Moses to Egypt but He didn’t send him alone. Our God will not send us without provision to accomplish what He has sent us to do. And He will not send us alone. Hope in God and trust Him for the outcome, whatever it is you are facing.

🌹You will come out on the other side praising and trusting Him.

Testimony of Trust

Blessed be the Lord, Because He has heard the voice of my supplication. The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him.
Psalms 28:6‭-‬7 NASB

Who do you turn to when life becomes overwhelming? In whom do you trust with all the pieces of your life – the good, the bad, the ugly, the disappointments, the struggles, the highs, the lows? Has He heard the voice of your supplication because you cried out to Him? If you do, He will help you. Your heart will exult your God and you can’t help but to thank Him.

But You, O Lord, are a shield about me, My glory, and the One who lifts my head.
Psalms 3:3 NASB

🌹He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear And will trust in the Lord.
Psalms 40:3 NASB

The Living God

How lovely are Your dwelling places, O Lord of hosts! My soul longed and even yearned for the courts of the Lord; My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God.
Psalms 84:1‭-‬2 NASB

🌹 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand outside. I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, How blessed is the man who trusts in You!
Psalms 84:10‭-‬12 NASB

To Seek or Not

At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him, “Because you have relied on the king of Aram and have not relied on the Lord your God, therefore the army of the king of Aram has escaped out of your hand.
Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubim an immense army with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet because you relied on the Lord, He delivered them into your hand.
For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. You have acted foolishly in this. Indeed, from now on you will surely have wars.”
In the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa became diseased in his feet. His disease was severe, yet even in his disease he did not seek the Lord, but the physicians.
2 Chronicles 16:7‭-‬9‭, ‬12 NASB

🌹In time of turmoil and distress in whom are you seeking? In whom is your trust?

The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the example of his father David’s earlier days and did not seek the Baals, but sought the God of his father, followed His commandments, and did not act as Israel did.
2 Chronicles 17:3‭-‬4 NASB

Trust Is The Lord

Thus says the Lord, “Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind And makes flesh his strength, And whose heart turns away from the Lord.
Jeremiah 17:5‭

Seems that we are being challenged on a daily basis where we place our trust. Turmoil all around the world, fear rising from disease, war, earthquakes, severe weather, waning morality and on and on.

BUT…

🌹Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord And whose trust is the Lord. For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit.
Jeremiah 17:7‭-‬8 NASB

Are You Willing?

Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel, “Since you have rejected this word And have put your trust in oppression and guile, and have relied on them, Therefore this iniquity will be to you Like a breach about to fall, A bulge in a high wall, Whose collapse comes suddenly in an instant, For thus the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, has said, “In repentance and rest you will be saved, In quietness and trust is your strength.” But you were not willing,
Isaiah 30:12‭-‬13‭, ‬15 NASB

Could these words of the prophet Isaiah be relevant today? The Word of God is relevant for every generation, past, present and future.
Are we any different than generations past, ignoring the word of God, even God Himself? God is patient but He will not wait forever.

🌹The time is now.“In repentance and rest you will be saved, In quietness and trust is your strength.” Are you willing?

P.S. Go to God right now. Don’t wait. Confess and turn to Him. Find fellow believers to grow with, learn from, be encouraged by. Trust in the Lord.

O God My Salvation

My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.
My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.
On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God. Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.
Psalms 62:1‭-‬2‭, ‬5‭-‬8 NASB

Do you know God as your rock? Your stronghold? Your hope? Your strength? Your refuge? Your trust?

Troubles? Burdens? Feel lost?

🌹Wait in silence for God only. Pour out your heart before Him; God is our refuge.

Trust, Cling, Follow, Obey

He (King Hezekiah) trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel; so that after him there was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among those who were before him. For he clung to the Lord; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the Lord had commanded Moses.
2 Kings 18:5‭-‬6 NASB

What can be said of you? Are you faithful?
Trusting in the Lord God?
Clinging to the Lord?
Following Jesus closely?
Keeping the commandments of God which He commanded?

🌹Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
Proverbs 3:5‭-‬7 NASB
