To Seek or Not

At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him, “Because you have relied on the king of Aram and have not relied on the Lord your God, therefore the army of the king of Aram has escaped out of your hand.
Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubim an immense army with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet because you relied on the Lord, He delivered them into your hand.
For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. You have acted foolishly in this. Indeed, from now on you will surely have wars.”
In the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa became diseased in his feet. His disease was severe, yet even in his disease he did not seek the Lord, but the physicians.
2 Chronicles 16:7‭-‬9‭, ‬12 NASB

🌹In time of turmoil and distress in whom are you seeking? In whom is your trust?

The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the example of his father David’s earlier days and did not seek the Baals, but sought the God of his father, followed His commandments, and did not act as Israel did.
2 Chronicles 17:3‭-‬4 NASB

Trust Is The Lord

Thus says the Lord, “Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind And makes flesh his strength, And whose heart turns away from the Lord.
Jeremiah 17:5‭

Seems that we are being challenged on a daily basis where we place our trust. Turmoil all around the world, fear rising from disease, war, earthquakes, severe weather, waning morality and on and on.

BUT…

🌹Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord And whose trust is the Lord. For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit.
Jeremiah 17:7‭-‬8 NASB

Are You Willing?

Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel, “Since you have rejected this word And have put your trust in oppression and guile, and have relied on them, Therefore this iniquity will be to you Like a breach about to fall, A bulge in a high wall, Whose collapse comes suddenly in an instant, For thus the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, has said, “In repentance and rest you will be saved, In quietness and trust is your strength.” But you were not willing,
Isaiah 30:12‭-‬13‭, ‬15 NASB

Could these words of the prophet Isaiah be relevant today? The Word of God is relevant for every generation, past, present and future.
Are we any different than generations past, ignoring the word of God, even God Himself? God is patient but He will not wait forever.

🌹The time is now.“In repentance and rest you will be saved, In quietness and trust is your strength.” Are you willing?

P.S. Go to God right now. Don’t wait. Confess and turn to Him. Find fellow believers to grow with, learn from, be encouraged by. Trust in the Lord.

O God My Salvation

My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.
My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.
On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God. Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.
Psalms 62:1‭-‬2‭, ‬5‭-‬8 NASB

Do you know God as your rock? Your stronghold? Your hope? Your strength? Your refuge? Your trust?

Troubles? Burdens? Feel lost?

🌹Wait in silence for God only. Pour out your heart before Him; God is our refuge.

Trust, Cling, Follow, Obey

He (King Hezekiah) trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel; so that after him there was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among those who were before him. For he clung to the Lord; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the Lord had commanded Moses.
2 Kings 18:5‭-‬6 NASB

What can be said of you? Are you faithful?
Trusting in the Lord God?
Clinging to the Lord?
Following Jesus closely?
Keeping the commandments of God which He commanded?

🌹Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
Proverbs 3:5‭-‬7 NASB

Trust and Obedience

And He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to perform healing. And He said to them, “Take nothing for your journey, neither a staff, nor a bag, nor bread, nor money; and do not even have two tunics apiece.
Luke 9:2‭-‬3 NASB

Do you trust the Lord God to provide for your every need?

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you.
Matthew 6:33 NASB

🌹Trust and obedience. Surrender to His will.

Read And Listen

“These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.                   John 14:25‭-‬26 NASB

Here is Jesus speaking to His disciples while abiding with them, teaching, assuring, leading. But Jesus was about to be crucified so He would no longer be abiding with them. But out of His great love and purpose the Father would not desert them. He sent the Holy Spirit to abide in them.

Jesus spoke the word to the disciples. Disciples today have those words in the Bible. As the disciples had to walk and listen to Jesus, we have to walk with God and listen when we read the Bible. Ever wonder why you don’t hear God? Are you reading His word?

And the greatest part of reading and listening to God’s word is that when we need discernment, or to share the gospel the Holy Spirit will bring it to mind what to say because He abides in us. Hallelujah!!!

🌹 Read and listen. Trust and obey. God will use you.

Greater Works

Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works. John 14:10 NASB

Jesus abides in the Father and the Father in Him. The Father abiding in the Son worked for the fulfillment of His plan through Jesus. Do you believe in Jesus? Then . . .

Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.        John 14:12 NASB

Greater works you will do if you believe and abide in Christ who abides in the Father. How?

I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.       John 14:16‭-‬17 NASB

The Holy Spirit, abiding in you because of your belief in Jesus Christ, will enable you to fulfill God’s plan. The continuation of what Jesus started – sharing the truth, the good news.

Therefore Pilate said to Him, “So You are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”    John 18:37 NASB

This greater work that Jesus spoke of is the spreading of the gospel through the power of the Holy Spirit in you. How many people in the world have the Holy Spirit residing within them? That is the greater work. The Holy Spirit in the believer spreading the gospel worldwide, everyday.

These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.         John 15:11 NASB

🌹 Are you surrendering to the abiding Holy Spirit within you? Are you trusting Him to use you to further the work Jesus started? Are you listening, ready to respond at any moment? Someone’s life could be dependent upon you.

What is Your Sacrifice?

A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amount to a cent. Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the contributors to the treasury; for they all put in out of their surplus, but she, out of her poverty, put in all she owned, all she had to live on.” Mark 12:42‭-‬44 NASB/Luke 21:3-4 NASB

This woman parted with all she had. Her livelihood was placed on the altar. She gave all she had for the glory of God.

How could she do that? She trusted in God to be her Jehovah-jireh – the Lord will provide.

🌹 What are you willing to lay on the altar for the glory of God? This woman gave her all.

And He said to them, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who will not receive many times as much at this time and in the age to come, eternal life.” Luke 18:29‭-‬30 NASB
