Holy Calling

To this end also we pray for you always, that our God will count (make) you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Mightiest God!

Do you not know what I (Sennacherib) and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of the lands able at all to deliver their land from my hand? Who was there among all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed who could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you from my hand?

Now therefore, do not let Hezekiah deceive you or mislead you like this, and do not believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people from my hand or from the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you from my hand?’ ”
2 Chronicles 32:13-15 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/2ch.32.13-15.NASB1995

They spoke of the God of Jerusalem as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, the work of men’s hands.
2 Chronicles 32:19 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/2ch.32.19.NASB1995

But King Hezekiah and Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, prayed about this and cried out to heaven.
2 Chronicles 32:20 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/2ch.32.20.NASB1995

The power of prayer.

And the Lord sent an angel who destroyed every mighty warrior, commander and officer in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned in shame to his own land. And when he had entered the temple of his god, some of his own children killed him there with the sword.
2 Chronicles 32:21 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/2ch.32.21.NASB1995

Pride comes before the fall.

So the Lord saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side.

A Faithful God

God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
1 Corinthians 1:9 NASB1995

Do You Belong?

.. is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also,
Romans 3:29 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/rom.3.29.NASB1995

Those who are dependent on God, His promise, belong to Him. They are His precious belonging bought with the blood of Jesus Christ.

For if the inheritance is based on law, it is no longer based on a promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by means of a promise.
Galatians 3:18 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/gal.3.18.NASB1995

That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants.
Romans 9:8 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/rom.9.8.NASB1995

And if you belong to Christ (are Christ’s), then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise.

No Righteousness of My Own

Being a righteous person is not about you or me doing good or being a good person. It actually has nothing to do with me or you at all. Being a righteous person is about God and His kingdom.

“Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 6:1 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/mat.6.1.NASB1995

In serving, in prayer, in worship, in fasting, in living out our salvation, we are to bring the Light of Christ and the glory of God for others to see His kingdom. It is not to show off ourselves as zealot for God.

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, . . .
Matthew 6:33a NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/mat.6.33.NASB1995

But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith,
Philippians 3:7-9 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/php.3.7-9.NASB1995

“Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.
. . . [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.’]
Matthew 6:9-10, 13b NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/mat.6.9-13.NASB1995

🌹I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, My soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

Joyful Faith?

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,
knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
James 1:2-4 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/jas.1.2-4.NASB1995

who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.
Women received back their dead by resurrection; and others were tortured, not accepting their release, so that they might obtain a better resurrection; and others experienced mockings and scourgings, yes, also chains and imprisonment.
They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were put to death with the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated (men of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves and holes in the ground.
And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised, because God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they would not be made perfect.
Hebrews 11:33-40 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/heb.11.33-40.NASB1995

How is your faith in God?

Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.
2 Corinthians 12:10 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/2co.12.10.NASB1995

🌹Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
