I Do It My Way?

The mind of man plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.
Proverbs 16:9 NASB

Do you seek the Lord’s counsel before entering into the plans of your heart? Before you take that new job, buy a new house, car or whatever? Before you seek a new church different from where you normally attend? Before you open or close a door in your life?

Many plans are in a man’s heart, But the counsel of the Lord will stand.
Proverbs 19:21 NASB

God is Sovereign, having supreme power and authority. His will be done. It WILL be done. Should we not seek God’s counsel in all our plans?

The Lord nullifies the counsel of the nations; He frustrates the plans of the peoples.
Psalms 33:10 NASB

ūüĆĻSovereign Lord, I entrust my future to You. Turn my heart to seek Your plans and to join You in fulfilling those plans according to Your divine will. Move my heart to seek Your kingdom first and Your righteousness and may Your plans bring me to my knees in submission to Your will that Your name may be glorified through me. In Jesus name, amen.
(Isaiah 14:26‚Ä≠-‚Ĩ27, Matthew 6:33 NASB)

Continually Seeking Him,

Come near to Me, listen to this: From the first I have not spoken in secret, From the time it took place, I was there. And now the Lord God has sent Me, and His Spirit.‚ÄĚ
Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, Who leads you in the way you should go.
Isaiah 48:16‭-‬17 NASB

Jesus, Emmanuel, God with us, from the first was there. He was, is and always will be. The Lord our God sent us Jesus and His Holy Spirit.

Even from eternity I am He, And there is none who can deliver out of My hand; I act and who can reverse it?‚ÄĚ
Isaiah 43:13 NASB
I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.
Psalms 32:8 NASB

Your ears will hear a word behind you, ‚ÄúThis is the way, walk in it,‚ÄĚ whenever you turn to the right or to the left.
Isaiah 30:21 NASB

ūüĆĻInstruct and teach us, by Your Holy Spirit Lord God, which way we should go under Your perfect counsel. Open our ears to hear Your word, “This is the way, walk in it,”.

Continually Seeking Him,

For our heart rejoices in Him, Because we trust in His holy name. — Psalm 33:21

Having trouble rejoicing in the Lord? Could it be a lack of trust in Him? Or maybe it’s because we just don’t take everything to Him and then trust that He loves and cares for us to help us with everything we take to Him.

What is it that is frustrating you right now? What is it that is stressing you out right now? What is it that is consuming all your thoughts, movements, emotions, time?

Go to the Lord, seek His face. Tell Him everything. Then . . . Let it go. Trust Him to see you through — giving the strength, direction, wisdom, whatever it takes to be victorious for His glory!

So let your heart rejoice in Him because you trust in His holy name.

Continually seeking Him,

I wait for the Lord, my soul does wait, And in His word do I hope. My soul waits for the Lord More than the watchmen for the morning; Indeed, more than the watchmen for the morning. — Psalm 130:5-6

Wait. . . Wait . . . Wait . . .

That is a four letter word to us today. No one likes to wait. We look for the shortest line in the grocery store. When we ring the bell for service we want someone to answer that bell right away. When we sit in the doctor’s office waiting room we keep looking at our watches, or cell phones, to see how much they are running behind. We just don’t like to wait. It is an inconvenience. We are always in a hurry. To go where???

In our hurried lifestyle today we miss out on a lot. We don’t take the time to really listen and notice our children. They are just an added burden to the hurried lifestyle. We can’t seem to find a smile to share with someone as they hurriedly pass us by. We don’t notice God’s awesome creation — new life in the Spring, the beautiful blue sky and green grass of Summer, the colors of Fall and the pure white of Winter snow or the bare trees awaiting Spring. There is that “wait” again. The trees waiting for the blooms of Spring to dress them again. We tend to half listen to conversations we have with others and then wonder why communication is the biggest problem in relationships.

The biggest communication problem today is the lack of hearing the voice of God. We are too much in a hurry to spend time waiting on the Lord. Yet when we do wait upon the Lord we can hear His still small voice of direction, encouragement, love. My hope for the future is found in the waiting room of the Lord. He is my hope. He is my direction into the future. He guides my steps and my ways. Without Him I am merely walking blindly into the future with no direction or encouragement.

Take time to wait on the Lord. He is so worth it. Hope for the future and peace for the present.

Blessings While Coming And Going

All these blessings will come upon you and¬†overtake you if you¬†obey the¬†Lord¬†your God: — Deuteronomy 28:2 ¬† ‚ÄúBlessed¬†shall¬†you¬†be¬†when you come in, and blessed¬†shall¬†you¬†be¬†when you go out. — Deuteronomy 28:6

The¬†Lord¬†will¬†guard your going out and your coming in¬†From this time forth and forever. (Psalm 121:8) Forever is a long time. What a peace is ours knowing that in our obedience God promises to bless us as we come in and go out. As we grow in our obedience we learn to trust Jesus more and more as we see the blessings, experience the assurance of God’s promises kept, and draw closer to Him.

Drawing closer to Jesus I am confident that He is intimately acquainted with all my ways. He checks out my path and my lying down. He sees my ways and all my steps are numbered. From birth to death I am His. I love that He encloses me behind and before and has laid His hand upon me. Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, the Lord surrounds His people from now and forever.

Why would we not want to be obedient? Built into obedience is trust, peace, security, intimacy, direction, and a relationship with God, the Almighty, Creator of the Universe, Father, and the lover of my soul.

Come and be blessed. Go and be blessed.

Continually seeking Him,

You¬†scrutinize my¬†path and my lying down,¬†And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.¬†Even before there is a word on my tongue,¬†Behold, O¬†Lord, You¬†know it all.¬†You have¬†enclosed me behind and before,¬†And¬†laid Your hand upon me. — Psalm 139:3-5

As the mountains surround Jerusalem,¬†So¬†the¬†Lord¬†surrounds His people¬†From this time forth and forever.¬†— Psalm 125:2

‚ÄúDoes He not¬†see my ways¬†And¬†number all my steps? — Job 31:4

For You have rescued my¬†soul¬†from death, My eyes from tears, My feet from stumbling. — Psalm 116:8
