Living By Faith

What does it look like if I am crucified with Christ and I no longer live but Christ lives in me?

I live by faith. The one who is righteous by faith shall live.
Galatians 1:17; Romans 3:11

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/heb.11.1.NASB1995

And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
Hebrews 11:6 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/heb.11.6.NASB1995

🌹For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?
Romans 8:24 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/rom.8.24.NASB1995

How am I living differently than the world because of my faith in Jesus Christ who lives in me?

but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
1 Peter 1:15-16 NASB1995

For I am the Lord your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy.

Leviticus 19:2 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/lev.19.2.NASB1995

How can we be holy? Only possible by The Holy One who lives in us.
Surrender to His Holiness.

You shall consecrate yourselves therefore and be holy, for I am the Lord your God.
Leviticus 20:7 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/lev.20.7.NASB1995

🌹Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. . .

Portrait 6, Living A New Life

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance,
1 Peter 1:14 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/1pe.1.14.NASB1995

Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.
1 Peter 4:1-2 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/1pe.4.1-2.NASB1995

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:1-2 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/rom.12.1-2.NASB1995

🌹if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus, that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

Portrait 4, A Crucified Life

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
Galatians 2:20 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/gal.2.20.NASB1995

Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Galatians 5:24 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/gal.5.24.NASB1995

knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;
for he who has died is freed (acquitted) from sin.
Romans 6:6-7 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/rom.6.6-7.NASB1995

If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness.
Romans 8:10 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/rom.8.10.NASB1995

For the death that He (Jesus) died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Romans 6:10-11 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/rom.6.10-11.NASB1995

Are you alive and living in Christ?

Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love.

Jesus’s prayer for His disciples:
🙏“O righteous Father, although the world has not known You, yet I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me; and I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”
John 17:25-26 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/jhn.17.25-26.NASB1995

Portrait 3, Take Up Your Cross

And He (Jesus) was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life (soul) will lose it, but whoever loses his life (soul) for My sake, he is the one who will save it.
Luke 9:23‭-‬24¹/Matthew 16:24-25²/Mark 8:34-35³ NASB

To deny “self” is to allow Christ living in us to have full reign of our lives. Surrendering our life to Christ who took on our sin so we could walk in Him free from the burden of sin and eternal Hell.

And taking up our cross is not a burden to carry alone.

Simon of Cyrene carried the cross of Jesus. As we carry our cross we have Jesus to help us to deny self for His purpose. For His glory.

🌹Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.
Luke 14:27 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/luk.14.27.NASB1995

And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

Speak of His Wonders

Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples. Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; Speak of all His wonders. Glory in His holy name;
Psalms 105:1-3a NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.105.1-3.NASB1995

We have all been there. Something wonderful has happened in our lives and what is the one thing we can’t wait to do? Tell someone.
God has done something wonderful for us. The Father sent Jesus to save us from ourselves, our sin, and in walking with Him we get to see His glory in our lives. That is something to thank God for. That is something to share with others; all the wonderful deeds He has done in our lives and speak of those wonders. Testimonies of God’s movement in our lives is something to share no matter how small our how big. Let us glory in His name for God is great and worthy to be praised.

– bear fruit in every good work
– increase in the knowledge of God
Colossians 1:10 NASB1995

And . . .

having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in (by) your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.
Colossians 2:6-7 NASB1995

🌹 . . . we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ,
Ephesians 4:15 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/eph.4.15.NASB1995

The Christian walk doesn’t stop or culminate at salvation. It is the beginning, not the end, of an eternal walk with Jesus.

Portrait of a Christian

Of this church I (Paul) was made a minister according to the stewardship from God bestowed on me for your benefit, so that I might fully carry out the preaching of the word of God, that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints, to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is

Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Jesus speaking to the Father:
🙏The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.
Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.

Believing Surrender

Mary, the mother of Jesus, was visited by the angel Gabriel just as Zacharias was six months earlier. The angel told Mary that she had found favor with God and that she would conceive and bear a son. You shall name Him Jesus.
Mary asked how this can be since she was a virgin.
Luke 1:26, 30-31, 34 paraphrased

and the angel answered:
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.”
Luke 1:35 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/luk.1.35.NASB1995

🌹And Mary said, “Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
Luke 1:38 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/luk.1.38.NASB1995

What did it take for Mary to surrender to God’s will?

Ask yourself,  “What will it take for me to do the same?”

🌹And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what had been spoken to her by the Lord.”
