Difficult Last Days

But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. — 2 Timothy 3:1

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!

But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, — 1 Timothy 4:1

The Old Testament is filled with testimony after testimony of the prophets, through God’s direction, warning Israel of the disaster that comes from turning away from Him.

Look about you. What is going on in your corner of the world? Examine your life. What’s going on there? Who are you listening to? Who are you following? Where is Jesus in the picture of your life?

WARNING!!!!!

Difficult times are coming and some will fall away because they are not seeking, walking, knowing, loving, adhered to Jesus.

What condition is your life in right now? Do you need to stop and evaluate and refresh your relationship with Jesus? Don’t delay. Do it now.

So You’re A Christian?

This is how we are sure that we have come to know Him: by keeping His commands. The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” yet doesn’t keep His commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly in him the love of God is perfected. This is how we know we are in Him: The one who says he remains in Him should walk just as He walked. — 1 John 2:3-6 (HCSB)

There are many who call themselves Christians. . . Do you call yourself a Christian? You can know for sure. The standard is right here in these verses.

Do you keep His commandments? (Obey)
Do you walk just as Jesus walked? (Humbly, sacrificially, obediently)
Don’t know His commandments or how He walked? Check out the Bible. It will tell you.

So. Are you truly a Christian?

Are People Seeing Jesus?

I work for a Christian Bookstore chain and have the opportunity of meeting so many different people from all walks of life. I have been blessed by so many – hearing their stories, adventures, and heart.

The other day I had such a blessing.

A mother comes in with her soon to be six year-old daughter on her hip. Her daughter is a down-syndrome child. They were there to buy a Bible for her birthday. I was the one blessed to help with that task. As Mom and I were talking, the girl reaches out for me to hold her. With permission I got to hold this adorable little one as she clung to my neck with her arms and waist with her legs. When it came time for them to leave Mom had to pry her from me but not before a kiss on the cheek given by this loving child. She totally made my day.

I share this story because, I wondered, after they left why she was so drawn to me. She had no apprehension. Did she see something in me that made her feel safe . . . comfortable . . . loved? Did she see Jesus in me? I like to think that is what she saw.

As in water face reflects face,
So the heart of man reflects man. — Proverbs 27:19

Wait and Seek

The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,
To the person who seeks Him. — Lamentations 3:25

Wait for the Lord;
Be strong and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for the Lord. — Psalm 27:14

Are you?

O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly;
My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You,
In a dry and weary land where there is no water. — Psalm 63:1

Will you make this your prayer?

Jeremiah 17:5-8

Thus says the Lord,
“Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind
And makes flesh his strength,
And whose heart turns away from the Lord.
“For he will be like a bush in the desert
And will not see when prosperity comes,
But will live in stony wastes in the wilderness,
A land of salt without inhabitant.
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord
And whose trust is the Lord.
“For he will be like a tree planted by the water,
That extends its roots by a stream
And will not fear when the heat comes;
But its leaves will be green,
And it will not be anxious in a year of drought
Nor cease to yield fruit.

Do you trust Jesus?

Your choice. . .

This is a Tough One

This is a tough passage and the clearest explanation I’ve ever heard. What are your thoughts?

Don Merritt's avatarLife Project Blog

It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit,  who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.

Hebrews 6:4-8

About 10 years ago, I was teaching a class in a predominately Calvinist group of people.  The scope of my engagement was that I would present “controversial” passages giving the various interpretations, and then let each decide their own…

Knowledge of God and Jesus Christ

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; — 2 Peter 1:2

This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. — John 17:3

More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, — Philippians 3:8

seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. — 2 Peter 1:3

but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. — 2 Peter 3:18

O Come Let Us Adore Him

O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.  — Psalm 95:1-2

God

Know therefore today, and take it to your heart, that the Lord, He is God in heaven above and on the earth below; there is no other. — Deuteronomy 4:39

For the Lord your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God who does not show partiality nor take a bribe. — Deuteronomy 10:17

Amen. Know it to be true today.

Testimony

“Only give heed to yourself and keep your soul diligently, so that you do not forget the things which your eyes have seen and they do not depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known to your sons and your grandsons. — Deuteronomy 4:9

You shall teach them to your sons, talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road and when you lie down and when you rise up. — Deuteronomy 11:19

Train up a child in the way he should go,
Even when he is old he will not depart from it. — Proverbs 22:6

Do you have a testimony to share? Is God alive in your life? Do you walk with Him daily? Have you seen the power of God working in you through His Word?

We have lost the power of a testimony in our world. If God is alive and working in our lives we are commanded to not forget what our eyes have seen and to not let them depart from our hearts but to tell of them. Let us pass the legacy of Jesus Christ onto our children and grandchildren by telling them of the great and wonderful things He has done in our lives. But don’t stop there. Tell everyone. You could be encouraging a brother/sister or introducing Jesus to someone. Let us not be silent.

Continually seeking Him,

Sharon
