Who Is Exalted?

Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.”
But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil. Therefore, to one who knows the right (good) thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.
James 4:15-17 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/jas.4.15-17.NASB1995

Boasting is a sin when speaking of oneself. It is drawing attention to oneself to be noticed, exalted.
But is it evil when we lift up another person by boasting about them? I suppose it could be if it’s done for selfish reasons. But what if it is done to encourage one’s walk with the Lord by pointing out God’s work in them. Boasting about God and His divine work in others and ourselves will encourage, teach, uplift as we learn from one another, giving all the glory to God.

Is that boasting without arrogance?

Paul said it best:
🌹Therefore in Christ Jesus I have found reason for boasting in things pertaining to God.

Thank, Praise, Exalt

I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to You among the nations. For Your lovingkindness is great to the heavens And Your truth (faithfulness) to the clouds. Be exalted above the heavens, O God; Let Your glory be above all the earth.

Extol: worship, exalt, glorify, celebrate

O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water. Thus I have seen You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory. Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips will praise You. So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips.

Salvation Gratitude

Though the fig tree should not blossom And there be no fruit on the vines, Though the yield of the olive should fail And the fields produce no food, Though the flock should be cut off from the fold And there be no cattle in the stalls,

Yet I will exult in the Lord, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.

Response to “Living Water”

“Living Water” from December 16, 2022 devotion, Isaiah 12:3 mentions drawing water from the springs of salvation. Today we look at the response of those who draw this “Living Water “.

And in that day you will say, “Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; Make them remember that (proclaim to them that) His name is exalted.” Praise the Lord in song, for He has done excellent things (gloriously); Let this be known throughout the earth.
Isaiah 12:4-5 NASB

Oh Lord, I give You thanks as I call upon Your name. Out of gratefulness for my salvation I will make known Your deeds among the peoples; proclaiming that Your name is exalted!! I pray one generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts. I pray men will speak of the power of Your awesome acts, and I will tell of Your greatness. I pray Your people will eagerly utter the memory of Your abundant goodness and will shout joyfully of Your righteousness. All Your works shall give thanks to You, O Lord, And Your godly ones shall bless You. They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and talk of Your power; to make known to the sons of men Your mighty acts and the glory of the majesty of Your kingdom. Again, I thank You for the privilege of participating in Your kingdom growth. Use me, Lord, I pray. May You be exalted in my actions to Your glory, amen.
Psalms 105:1/Psalms 145:4‭, ‬6‭-‬7‭, ‬10‭-‬12 NASB

How will you respond?

🌹O sing to the Lord a new song, For He has done wonderful things, His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him. The Lord has made known His salvation; He has revealed His righteousness in the sight of the nations.
Psalms 98:1‭-‬2 NASB

From Where Do You Seek Your Praise?

How is it possible for you to believe [how can you learn to believe], you who [are content to seek and] receive praise and honor and glory from one another, and yet do not seek the praise and honor and glory which come from Him Who alone is God? — John 5:44 (AMP)

Do you seek the approval, glory, honor and praise from others? Is their praise necessary for you to live for Jesus? Is their approval necessary to serve God?

Jesus said,”I receive not glory from men [I crave no human honor, I look for no mortal fame]” in John 5:41. Jesus sought the approval, glory, honor and praise from the Father. Jesus served the Father to bring Him glory, honor and praise and in turn the Father exalted His Son. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, (Philippians 2:9)

Then if Jesus is our role model we need to seek to honor God. Jesus said that “If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him” in John 12:26. Following Jesus takes belief in Him as the Son of God who died on the cross for us and was raised on the third day by God Himself. It takes following in Jesus’ footsteps. It takes seeking God’s approval rather than the approval of men. For it is not he who commends himself that is approved, but he whom the Lord commends. (2 Corinthians 10:18)

Let us seek Jesus so that all will honor the Son even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. (John 5:23) Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone. (1 Chronicles 29:12) Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, (1 Peter 5:6)

for they loved the approval of men rather than the approval of God. — John 12:43

Practice The Walk

I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul will make its boast in the Lord; The humble will hear it and rejoice. O magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together. — Psalm 34:1-3

How’s your walk with Jesus? Do you bless Him, thank Him in everything and praise Him at all times? This is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus. We are not perfect but that is not an excuse for not continually trying to do His will. When my heart is focused on blessing, thanking and praising God, I find my heart boasts of Him. It comes easily.

Practicing this kind of walk with the Lord opens doors of communication with those Jesus is calling to Him. He opens the eyes of the lost who humbly approach the throne seeking His salvation. Our walk with Jesus is so important to living an effective life of soul winning. When souls are introduced to Jesus He is magnified and we rejoice and exalt His name together.

Continually seeking Him,

Sharon
