Abounding Work

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. — 1 Corinthians 15:58

Work is a part of life. We work to meet our needs in life. We work to get that dream vacation or special vehicle. We work because we have to for our families survival.

When work comes up in a conversation it usually takes on negative tones. We don’t like our boss or another employee. We don’t like our schedule or feel as if we are overworked and underpaid. We can complain that it seems that we never get the cake job but get dumped on. And so on and so on. We work to just get to the weekend. If you think about it that is a bleak existence. I made the decision a long time ago that if I am spending the majority of my life at work, I might as well make the most of it and enjoy the time I am there.

The work of the Lord is no different. We can complain about everything that isn’t going right and whine and complain about every little thing or we can be steadfast, immovable and always abounding in the work of the Lord. Our livelihood on earth may not have eternal value but we can make that work have eternal value. We can make every workday, no matter what we do for a living, have eternal value by abounding in the work of the Lord and making it a part of our everyday life and work. No matter your lot in life you can make a difference in the lives of all those you meet through work for the kingdom. So abound in the work of the Lord knowing that your toil is not in vain.

Keep seeking and serving.

Strong Support

“For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. . .” — 2 Chronicles 16:9

Are you completely His? If you are then He has found you and wants to strongly support your heart. A heart that desires His will, not our own. A heart that wants to abide with us. Can you imagine a God, Creator of us, wanting to abide with us? Well, He does. His desire is to commune with His creation. All of His creation. Be in prayer for God’s creation. Hearts are needing to be turned toward Him because we all need the strong support of God.

Have a blessed day knowing that you have the strong support of God with you (if).

Blessed Be The Lord

Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, The God who is our salvation. Selah. 20 God is to us a God of deliverances; And to God the Lord belong escapes from death. — Psalm 68:19-20

“Jesus is the rescuer for sinners, the ransom from heaven” from a song (wish I could tell you the name of it or the artist but alas I just know I love the song). We have a lot to be thankful for. He is our escape from death, our deliverance from sin, the bearer of our burdens, our salvation. Are you thankful and blessed by this? Are you telling anyone of the wonderful good news? My heart is heavy for the lost. Pray with me for them and ask God to place individuals in your life that you can witness to of the wonderful salvation of our Lord.

O God, You are awesome from Your sanctuary. The God of Israel Himself gives strength and power to the people. Blessed be God! — Psalm 68:35

Do You Pray?

Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you; but I will instruct you in the good and right way. — 1 Samuel 12:23
I thank God, whom I serve with a clear conscience the way my forefathers did, as I constantly remember you in my prayers night and day, — 2 Timothy 1:3

Do you pray for others? Prayer opens the door to share the gospel with others. Are you praying for your unsaved friend, neighbor, family member? Can your prayers make a difference in the lives of other people? Jesus is actively working to bring all to Him. In prayer we can see where God is working and be open to His calling. Pray for the salvation of others.

Do you pray for others? Do the burdens of others burden you? God cares and hears the prayers of His saints as they pray for others. Your love for God is demonstrated in your willingness to intercede for others just as Jesus intercedes for you.

Do you call upon the Lord on behalf of others? The battle is still raging and we need to pray for one another to stay steadfast in our walk with the Lord. Pray for strength for one another. Praying for one another builds community, unity and steadfast love for one another.

Do you count it a privilege to pray for others? Are you thankful for every opportunity to pray others? How is your intercessory prayer life? Are you fulfilling God’s call to pray for one another? Only you can answer that question but God already knows the answer.

O Lord

Thine, O LORD is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all — 1 Chronicles 19:11

Amen and Amen. And to think that all of this lives in us when we abide in Him. He is King of Kings, Lord of Lords and we are truly blessed to be His subjects, servants, children. Let us exalt our Lord today because He “is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty” and because His “is the kingdom“. We are His because “all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine“.

God is Awesome

The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. — 1 John 3:24

By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. — 1 John 4:13

and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. — Romans 5:5

Thank you Lord God for Your Holy Spirit!! Pentecost must have been awesome, receiving the Holy Spirit just as Jesus had promised. We have the security of the love of God poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit. We have the security of knowing Him by the Holy Spirit that we received. What a blessing. God is so awesome.

Worship and Praise

“All the earth will worship You, And will sing praises to You; They will sing praises to Your name.” Selah. — Psalm 66:4

Do you ever think on Sunday morning, as you are worshiping the Lord in hymns, about others gathered together worshiping the Lord God?

I imagine all the churches of the world gathered in one accord giving praises to Almighty God. I know with time zones that this image is not reality but I so look forward to that day when it will be reality — all nations bowed in worship to the Sovereign One.

I wonder what God sees on Sunday mornings as the sun moves from east to west and people are getting ready to go to a gathering place for worship. Does He see a continual 24 hour worship? Is He pleased by what He sees and hears on His Sabbath day? Does He see an eagerness amongst His people to bring offerings of praise and worship to His house? I wonder.

How will your worship be different and will it be pleasing to the Lord today? Draw near to Him and give yourself in worship today.

Give Thanks

“Only fear the Lord and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you — 1 Samuel 12:24

Do we really consider all the great things the Lord had done for us? If we did we would reverence Him more, serve Him better, seek Him with all our heart and be more content where we are. Thank Him today for all the great things He has done for you. Let’s “give thanks with a grateful heart, give thanks to the Holy One, give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ His Son”.

Quiet Time

In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch. — Psalm 5:3

Did God hear from you this morning? Did you give Him glory, confess your transgressions, thank Him and then ask? Are you eagerly waiting this morning for the answers to your prayers? Are you looking for the glory of God to be revealed today? Quiet time is a special time and puts a new perspective on the “same old routine”.

Have a blessed weekend.

Sharon

Prayer

For I hope in You, O Lord; You will answer, O Lord my God. — Psalms 38:15

YOU WILL ANSWER,
O Lord my God. (period, end)
