Speak The Gospel

So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
Mark 16:19 NASB

Jesus had been crucified. Jesus arose from the dead. Jesus sent His disciples out, but not alone. . .

And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word by the signs that followed.] [And they promptly reported all these instructions to Peter and his companions. And after that, Jesus Himself sent out through them from east to west the sacred and imperishable proclamation of eternal salvation.]
Mark 16:20 NASB

The disciples went out preaching everywhere, while the Lord worked with them.
Jesus sent out through them the sacred and imperishable proclamation of eternal salvation.
Did you catch that? Jesus worked with them sending out the proclamation of eternal salvation through them!

We are not alone when we share the gospel. Jesus is with us, working, through the Holy Spirit residing in us. Let us be bold in sharing the gospel.

🌹And He said to them, β€œGo into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
Mark 16:15 NASB

By What Power?

Peter and John were arrested for “teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead”. (Acts 4:2)
Standing before the rulers, elders, and scribes in Jerusalem along with Annas, the high priest and John and Alexander, and all who were of priestly descent, they were asked, “By what power, or in what name, have you done this?” (Acts 4:5-7)

Then Peter was “filled with the Holy Spirit, and said to them,” (Acts 4:8)
“Let it be known to all of you . . . that in the name of Jesus Christ, the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead — in Him alone is salvation; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
(Acts 4:10,12)

🌹Even before, the “Powers that be”, Peter and John were confident to share the gospel, to proclaim Jesus Christ. This boldness to share came through the power of the Holy Spirit that resides in all born again Christians. Are we relying on the Holy Spirit’s power for the boldness to share the gospel?

Speak Boldly

And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.
Acts 4:31 NASB

Speaking the word of God with boldness.
Sharing the gospel without fear. How does this happen?
By prayer and the filling of the Holy Spirit. Time in the word of God and in prayer strengthens our knowledge of God’s word and our spiritual relationship with our Lord. We trust the Spirit to speak through us.
Who can you be praying for and sharing the gospel with?

🌹For it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.
Matthew 10:20 NASB
for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”
Luke 12:12 NASB

Confident Boldness Through Christ

For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak. I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me.”
John 12:49‭-‬50 NASB

What an example Jesus sets for us. He speaks what the Father speaks and what the Father speaks is eternal life.

We also can have such confidence through . . .

Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him, to God
Eph. 3:11b-12

Such confidence we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God, who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
2 Corinthians 3:4‭-‬6 NASB

He is the one who has helped us tell others about his new agreement to save them. We do not tell them that they must obey every law of God or die; but we tell them there is life for them from the Holy Spirit. The old way, trying to be saved by keeping the Ten Commandments, ends in death; in the new way, the Holy Spirit gives them life.
2 Corinthians 3:6 Living Bible

But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter.
Romans 7:6 NASB

🌹It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
John 6:63 NASB

Gospel Prayer

and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel,
Ephesians 6:19 NASB

As I ask for your prayers on my behalf, I am praying at the same time for you as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, who is the gospel, with boldness.
We need not be educated or trained to have the confidence to share the gospel but we do have to spend time with Jesus. Trust that God can use us to share the gospel whenever, wherever we are.
Colossians 4:3/Acts 4:13 NASB

God, thank You for entrusting Your saints with the gospel. I pray that You will open doors, give us divine appointments, so we can share the greatest gift ever given by Your sacrifice, Your life, Lord Jesus. Give us boldness in You, God, even amid opposition, remembering to speak, not as pleasing people, but You God, the One who examines our hearts. This I pray in Jesus name, amen.
1 Thessalonians 2:2, 4 NASB

🌹preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.
2 Timothy 4:2 NASB

3 John 9-10

I wrote something to the church; but Diotrephes, who loves to be first among them, does not accept what we say (us). For this reason, if I come, I will call attention to his deeds which he does, unjustly accusing us with wicked words; and not satisfied with this, he himself does not receive the brethren, either, and he forbids those who desire to do so and puts them out of the church.
3 John 9‭-‬10 NASB

Holy God, I pray for the one who walks contrary to Your Word in self righteousness, forgetting that You and only You are Sovereign leader of the church. Under Your sovereign power, Lord, guide me by Your word to stand for Your perfect truth against those who abuse it to their demise. May the body, Your church, prayerfully confront boldly anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ. These we know do not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. I pray Lord God for discernment and boldness to speak truth that You may be glorified in Your church. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

1 John 2:28-29

Now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away (be put to shame before Him) from Him in shame at His (presence) coming. If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone also who practices righteousness is born (begotten) of Him. 1 John 2:28‭-‬29 NASB

🌹Holy, holy, holy are You, Lord God, my righteousness, my confidence. Abide in me, Jesus. You are my life and on that day when You appear and my faith is made sight may I be bold and confident, not shrinking away in shame when I am revealed with You in glory.Β For whoever is ashamed of You and Your words in this adulterous and sinful generation, You, Son of Man, will also be ashamed of them when You come in the glory of Your Father with the holy angels.”

Father, forgive me for wanting to speak from myself, seeking my own glory. I pray I will seek Your glory, the One who sent Jesus, for He is truth, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. I stand bold in Your name Lord God, knowing I was born again, not of blood nor the will of flesh, nor the will of man, but of You, God. And because of this I will see Your kingdom O God and bow in praise before Your Almighty throne of victory! To Your righteousness and glory I pray in Jesus name, amen.Β Colossians 3:4/Ephesians 3:12/Mark 8:38/John 7:18/John 1:13/John 3:3 NASB

Philippians 1:18b-20

Yes, and I will rejoice,Β for I know that this will turn out for my deliveranceΒ  (salvation)Β through your prayers and the provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will not be put to shame in anything, but that with all boldness, Christ will even now, as always, be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.
Philippians 1:18b-‬20 NASB

Sovereign God, I rejoice in knowing that through the prayers of Your saints and the provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ in me that I will not be put to shame in anything. The provision of the Spirit, is that He is in control for allowing or restraining my efforts, my way, my path in life. My great expectation and hopeΒ does not disappoint, because Your love, God, has been poured out within my heart through the Holy Spirit who was given to me. If I should suffer as a Christian, I will not be ashamed, but with all boldness, glorify You, Father, in the name of Jesus.Β For I have been bought with a price: therefore Christ will, even in persecution, be exalted and glorified in my body whether by life or by death. My hope of seeing Your glory gives me boldness to speak of Your glory. Amen.
Romans 5:5/1 Peter 4:16/1 Corinthians 6:20/2 Corinthians 3:12 NASB

🌹for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that He might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.

Walking

Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.   Ephesians 5:15‭-‬17 NASB

How do we walk wisely?

By walking according to His word.

and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. Ephesians 5:2 NASB

How do we make the most of our time?

Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.       Colossians 4:5‭-‬6 NASB

Spend time in prayer.

With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. Ephesians 6:18‭-‬20 NASB

How do we know the will of God?

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.    Romans 12:2 NASB

By prayer.

For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; Colossians 1:9‭-‬10 NASB

For this is the will of God, your sanctification; 1 Thessalonians 4:3a NASB

🌹How is your walk?
