1 John 2:28-29

Now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away (be put to shame before Him) from Him in shame at His (presence) coming. If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone also who practices righteousness is born (begotten) of Him. 1 John 2:28‭-‬29 NASB

🌹Holy, holy, holy are You, Lord God, my righteousness, my confidence. Abide in me, Jesus. You are my life and on that day when You appear and my faith is made sight may I be bold and confident, not shrinking away in shame when I am revealed with You in glory. For whoever is ashamed of You and Your words in this adulterous and sinful generation, You, Son of Man, will also be ashamed of them when You come in the glory of Your Father with the holy angels.”

Father, forgive me for wanting to speak from myself, seeking my own glory. I pray I will seek Your glory, the One who sent Jesus, for He is truth, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. I stand bold in Your name Lord God, knowing I was born again, not of blood nor the will of flesh, nor the will of man, but of You, God. And because of this I will see Your kingdom O God and bow in praise before Your Almighty throne of victory! To Your righteousness and glory I pray in Jesus name, amen. Colossians 3:4/Ephesians 3:12/Mark 8:38/John 7:18/John 1:13/John 3:3 NASB

Clothed

And they shall not come near to Me to serve as a priest to Me, nor come near to any of My holy things, to the things that are most holy; but they will bear their shame and their abominations which they have committed.
Ezekiel 44:13‭ NASB

Thank God the Father for His Son, Jesus, that we don’t have to bear our shame and abominations committed.
Thank you Jesus for taking our shame and abominations and clothing us with Your eternal righteousness.

When they (Levitical priests) go out into the outer court, into the outer court to the people, they shall put off their garments in which they have been ministering and lay them in the holy chambers; then they shall put on other garments so that they will not transmit holiness to the people with their garments.
Ezekiel 44:19 NASB

Clothed with the righteousness of Jesus we are forgiven. Clothed in His holiness we share His saving grace with others as His holy priests. Jesus made all the difference.

Return Faithless Ones

A voice is heard on the bare heights, The weeping and the supplications of the sons of Israel; Because they have perverted their way, They have forgotten the Lord their God.

“Return, O faithless sons, I will heal your faithlessness.” “Behold, we come to You; For You are the Lord our God.

Let us lie down in our shame, and let our humiliation cover us; for we have sinned against the Lord our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day. And we have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God.”
Jeremiah 3:21‭-‬22‭, ‬25

They have lied about the Lord And said, “Not He; Misfortune will not come on us, And we will not see sword or famine. The prophets are as wind, And the word is not in them. Thus it will be done to them!” Therefore, thus says the Lord, the God of hosts, “Because you have spoken this word, Behold, I am making My words in your mouth fire And this people wood, and it will consume them.
Jeremiah 5:12‭-‬14 NASB

Take the word of God to heart. As is the Old Testament so is today. We are to learn from history. God is righteous, holy, perfect and without Him we are nothing.

Have you forgotten the Lord your God? God is waiting to heal your faithlessness. Lie down in shame, let humiliation cover you; for the sin you have sinned against the Lord your God.

🌹 God, I humbly bow before You in shame for my disregard of Your way, neglecting Your Word, Your presence in my life, and being disobedient. Forgive my disobedience to Your voice, the voice of the Lord my God. Heal my faithlessness. Amen

Not My Fault

Yet you said, ‘I am innocent; Surely His anger is turned away from me.’ Behold, I will enter into judgment with you Because you say, ‘I have not sinned.’ Jeremiah 2:35 NASB

Isn’t that our first inclination, to put blame elsewhere? God’s judgement upon the world is not “my fault”. And yet the decline in morality, salvation, growing churches, is not because of disobedient believers, is it?

Let us lie down in our shame, and let our humiliation cover us; for we have sinned against the Lord our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day. And we have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God.” Jeremiah 3:25 NASB

Did God not instruct all believers to go make disciples?

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19‭-‬20 NASB

Could it be our disobedience to God that we see the world in mass chaos?

“For My people are foolish, They know Me not; They are stupid children And have no understanding. They are shrewd to do evil, But to do good they do not know.”
Jeremiah 4:22 NASB

Where does your mind wander when you look at the turmoil around you? Does your mind turn toward your own self preservation so that you will do whatever it takes, including evil, ungodly action for yourself? Or is your spirit stirred within you to turn toward God where you will find true preservation?

What is the solution?

Wash your heart from evil, O Jerusalem, That you may be saved. How long will your wicked thoughts Lodge within you? Jeremiah 4:14 NASB

My soul, my soul! I am in anguish! Oh, my heart! My heart is pounding in me; I cannot be silent, Because you have heard, O my soul, The sound of the trumpet, The alarm of war. Jeremiah 4:19 NASB

Are you listening?

O Lord , do not Your eyes look for truth? You have smitten them, But they did not weaken; You have consumed them, But they refused to take correction. They have made their faces harder than rock; They have refused to repent.
Jeremiah 5:3 NASB

Are you ready to turn back to God and follow Him in obedience?

🌹Repentance is necessary for restoration.

Worthy To Suffer

They took his advice; and after calling the apostles in, they flogged them and ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and then released them. 41 So they went on their way from the presence of the Council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name. — Acts 5:40-41

Wow. . . Rejoice? . . Really? After a whip beating? Here are apostles rejoicing over being beaten because they suffered shame for the name above all names, the name of Jesus. They rejoiced over being considered worthy to suffer? How real was their faith? So real they were willing to suffer for it.

I wonder. . . How real is my faith? Am I willing to suffer shame for the sake of my families salvation, my neighbors, my co-workers, etc.? Am I willing to suffer for the glory of the Lord? He was willing to suffer for me.

Fountain of Living Water

O Lord, the hope of Israel, All who forsake You will be put to shame. Those who turn away on earth will be written down, Because they have forsaken the fountain of living water, even the Lord. — Jeremiah 17:13
How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, Whose hope is in the Lord his God, — Psalm 146:5

Hope in the Lord does not bring about shame. He is a trustworthy God who will not forsake His own. Turn to the Lord, the living water, from whom we are quenched. God loves us and desires us to do His will for the benefit of our souls and for His glory. He will not let us down. He will not forsake us so do not forsake Him. Turn to Jesus for the help to face each day, to know the freedom from sin only He can give, and to experience peace in a world of chaos. He so longs to show you all the hidden treasures of wisdom and knowledge that is Jesus Christ Himself.

Seek out the Lord Jesus Christ — by reading His Word, talking to a friend who knows Jesus, going to a church that proclaims the Good News of Jesus Christ and/or talking to Jesus by prayer. He is listening. Open your heart to receive all He has planned for you. He is your hope!

Abide in Him

Now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming. — 1 John 2:28

Little children in the New Testament Greek “is a term of affection by a teacher to his disciples under circumstances requiring a tender appeal”* This appeal is to us, disciples of Christ.

Abide in Him. We abide in Him and His love when we keep His commandments, abiding in His teachings. We have the confidence (assurance) that we are abiding because of the Holy Spirit that was given to us. When we have the Holy Spirit abiding in us we will bear much fruit (bring glory and honor to God by our productivity in Him).

Seek and practice His commandments and teachings until Jesus returns so we will not shrink away in shame but stand or humbly bow in His presence.

If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. — John 15:10
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. — John 15:4
By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. — 1 John 4:13
Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. — 2 John 1:9

O Lord, Our Hope

O Lord, the hope of Israel, All who forsake You will be put to shame. Those who turn away on earth will be written down, Because they have forsaken the fountain of living water, even the Lord. — Jeremiah 17:13

O Lord, our hope, I pray earnestly for those souls who forsake you. During this holy week may their eyes be opened to see the resurrected King. Help them to caste aside their shame and come to the living water. You Lord are the eternal fountain that flows within us so that we thirst no more.

I pray that our churches will be filled not only with the lost this Easter morning but also with Your Holy Spirit who draws all souls to You. May the call to salvation be heard clearly and the call to repentance obeyed. I hope and pray for thirsty hearts that pant for the living water. Call all to repentance dear Lord.

During this week I pray that we all come humbly to the cross and lay our sin and shame there and rise up renewed and full of rejoicing because You are risen!!!! I pray that we, Your children, come to church with gladness and rejoicing desiring to worship the risen King!

Are you looking forward to celebrating Resurrection Sunday?
