Road to Triumph Pt. 3

When He approached Bethphage and Bethany, near the mount that is called Olivet, He sent two of the disciples, saying, “Go into the village ahead of you; there, as you enter, you will find a colt tied on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of it.’ ” So those who were sent went away and found it just as He had told them. As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?” They said, “The Lord has need of it.” They brought it to Jesus, and they threw their coats on the colt and put Jesus on it.
Luke 19:29‭-‬35 NASB

Remember from yesterday’s devotion, Jesus was telling a parable and mentioned, “they supposed that the kingdom of God was going to appear immediately”.
As this passage unfolds you will notice that Jesus and His disciples were not on the same page, the same wave length.

But back to this passage section. . .

Isn’t it wonderfully fascinating how Jesus sends the two disciples on a mission stating exactly what they were to look for and what to say if they faced opposition?! Jesus spoke. Jesus sent. Disciples obeyed. What an experience they encountered.

God’s Word is the same. It tells us what to look for, how to accomplish His plan and what to say when facing opposition. Jesus was present then. We have the Holy Spirit present in us, the believer, now. How many experiences have we missed because we don’t know God’s Word, Jesus Christ, intimately?

🌹God, guide me by Your word and Your presence so I may fully experience what a joy it is to serve You.

Philippians 3:18-19

For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their minds on earthly things.
Philippians 3:18‭-‬19 NASB

God, my heart breaks and aches for those who have turned away from You. Those who are devoured by the lust of the world as they seek to wet their appetite and in turn are consumed by it, allowing their appetite to be their god.
For such as these are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.
For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward You, God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please You, God. I choose not to walk in the flesh but to walk in the Spirit under Your almighty power and direction my God, my Lord, my everything.
To do that I will set my mind on (be intent on) the things above, not on the things that are on earth. May I never be a stumbling block to others by setting my mind on man’s interests instead of Your interests, Lord God. For You, God, are the reason for my existence. My existence is to fulfill Your perfect purpose. So, I will look to You and set my mind on Your way. All for Your glory Father in the name of Jesus, amen.
Romans 16:18/Romans 8:5‭-‬8/Colossians 3:2 NASB/Matthew 16:23 NASB

🌹Lord, may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

I Do It My Way?

The mind of man plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.
Proverbs 16:9 NASB

Do you seek the Lord’s counsel before entering into the plans of your heart? Before you take that new job, buy a new house, car or whatever? Before you seek a new church different from where you normally attend? Before you open or close a door in your life?

Many plans are in a man’s heart, But the counsel of the Lord will stand.
Proverbs 19:21 NASB

God is Sovereign, having supreme power and authority. His will be done. It WILL be done. Should we not seek God’s counsel in all our plans?

The Lord nullifies the counsel of the nations; He frustrates the plans of the peoples.
Psalms 33:10 NASB

🌹Sovereign Lord, I entrust my future to You. Turn my heart to seek Your plans and to join You in fulfilling those plans according to Your divine will. Move my heart to seek Your kingdom first and Your righteousness and may Your plans bring me to my knees in submission to Your will that Your name may be glorified through me. In Jesus name, amen.

Come near to Me, listen to this: From the first I have not spoken in secret, From the time it took place, I was there. And now the Lord God has sent Me, and His Spirit.”
Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, Who leads you in the way you should go.
Isaiah 48:16‭-‬17 NASB

Jesus, Emmanuel, God with us, from the first was there. He was, is and always will be. The Lord our God sent us Jesus and His Holy Spirit.

Even from eternity I am He, And there is none who can deliver out of My hand; I act and who can reverse it?”
Isaiah 43:13 NASB
I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.
Psalms 32:8 NASB

Your ears will hear a word behind you, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left.
Isaiah 30:21 NASB

🌹Instruct and teach us, by Your Holy Spirit Lord God, which way we should go under Your perfect counsel. Open our ears to hear Your word, “This is the way, walk in it,”.

Rejoicing?

For our heart rejoices in Him, Because we trust in His holy name. — Psalm 33:21

Having trouble rejoicing in the Lord? Could it be a lack of trust in Him? Or maybe it’s because we just don’t take everything to Him and then trust that He loves and cares for us to help us with everything we take to Him.

What is it that is frustrating you right now? What is it that is stressing you out right now? What is it that is consuming all your thoughts, movements, emotions, time?

Go to the Lord, seek His face. Tell Him everything. Then . . . Let it go. Trust Him to see you through — giving the strength, direction, wisdom, whatever it takes to be victorious for His glory!

So let your heart rejoice in Him because you trust in His holy name.

Continually seeking Him,

Sharon
